Surely T-Mobile have failed to give proper notice because there are two parts to comply with if they want to modify the contract, they have to give one months notice AND 'inform the consumer of the ability to terminate the contract without penalty if the proposed modification is not acceptable to the consumer' as per section 48(1) 9.3 of the communications act 2003.
It would be lovely to call them up and say 'I've seen your demand of increasing my contract to £15.55 and I've decided to make a counter offer £14.50'....0 -
Well that was fun I have recieved NO notification from T Mobile ( the TC say 1mths notice) of the price increase but during a call with thier staff tonight was told that this will take effect from 09 MAY interesting but hey the customer service team can not do anything but quote term snad conditions but oh dear did not like it when i pointed out thier own rules they first claimed there was NO obligation to give me 1 minths notice.
Then they do not handle complaints....second issue I have had in 12 mths so yet another e-mail to the MD0 -
Here's an interesting one to throw in to the mix. I tend to take screen grabs when I place an order - you never know when a company may try to renege on the deal.
As you can see it clearly states the cost is £7.71 a month [for] 24 months. I appreciate the small print of the contract probably allows T-Mobile to increase their charges, however special offers made during the purchase also form part of the contact.
Interestingly the £7.51 is arrived at by a £2.50 discount on the £10.21 real price of the line rental. For the first few months T-Mobile didn't apply the discount and I had to write to ask them to fix their error. And the letter I received from them about the line rental increase suggests they've once again forgotten about the discount and are attempting to increase the line rental to £10.68 a month.
I must admit that I'm not too bothered about it, but I will write to them in an attempt to get them to stick to their original offer. :rotfl:0 -
I've set-up a govt epetition to attempt to highlight / force companies to be upfront about these hikes - or ideally to remove them all together (doubt that would happen). Perhaps a Key Facts illustration like mortgages - or is that OTT?
Anywho, please sign and pass on the link, only 99,999 signatures to go.....
Doh - it won't let me save links so if someone has privilege to do so ....

Ive just had the same letter off them and decided to ring, they are saying it will help to keep the same customer service they are already providing!
I got told at the point of sale that I was buying a contract at £36 a month for 24 months all in as well, I would see this as miss selling an item to me, we all need to complain to offcom and take this further as this is a joke! Which are showing by doing this they will earn 52 million! Just of these price increases.
Ps still on the phone to them nearly reaching the 2 hour marker! How's that still keeping the 'great customer service?'
I will certainly be leaving them once my contract is up for certain, another company can have my hard earned cash0 -

OFCOM are already investigating this.
http://media.ofcom.org.uk/2013/01/03/ofcom-sets-out-proposals-to-tackle-mid-contract-price-rises/
As you'd expect, the industry is up in arms about this and the networks are all subtly threatening a less competitive retail marketplace if OFCOM force them to stop midterm price rises. Everyone apart from Three, who have agreed with OFCOM.
I guess the problem the networks have is the same as most businesses - they're expected to generate year-on-year sales growth. With the mobile phone industry nearing saturation point, and the retail side of things being more price competitive than ever, this is becoming difficult. It's only through price rises and new products like 4G that the industry overall can grow sales significantly. The suspicious part of my mind says Three are only on the consumer's side because they are currently stealing sales from the other networks - they don't need to hike prices or charge for 4G to achieve growth (yet). If the move forces the other networks to increase prices at retail, that further plays in to Three's hands.
Unfortunately, if OFCOM do stop mid-contract price rises, we will wind up paying for it some other way. I can't help but feel the whole thing is kinda pointless really.0 -
Mobile price is going out of the reach of a common man :mad:0

Does that mean that common women will be ok?0
