Also, another problem that is now occuring ..........when you hover the cursor over the title of a thread, a little box appears with the first post words in it..........but, when I click to go into that thread, that little box doesnt fade out for 10+ seconds meaning I cant read the thread till its gone.
This never used to happen and its driving me crazy.

i had this problem with IE9, i managed to sort it by switching something off. but i cant for the life of me remember what it was,

    It is a bit slower.

But my biggest problem is that when I open the forum site, the whole computer hangs for about 10-20 seconds. Very annoying!!!

    I am using IE 9.08112 (I think) on a Windows 7 machine.

    Please fix!
I have this problem as well. Using Firefox 11 & Windows Vista.

It is not everyones friend, people using it are having the same problems and also with other browsers.:(

*Some* people. I use FF (versions 3 and 11) on W7 and XP and have no problems whatsoever. I'm using the old style fixed width layout - are you using this or the stretchy one ?

Opening this thread today using the 'newest post' link on my CP page of subscribed threads took exactly 20 seconds from clicking the link to being able to scroll the page to read previous posts.

Again the g+1 button is the last thing to appear before I am able to do anything.

    ETA
strangely when I posted this message it was instant and with no page freeze, I could scroll it straight away.

I am getting an approx 15 second delay every time I open MSE in my browser - computer freezes up (completely). I literally can't do anything with my computer because it is frozen (not just the browser). I am not sure I should be visiting MSE whilst this continues.

    Pertinent details:
    • Browser:
      Chrome 18.0.1025.162
    • Operating system:
      Windows 7
    • Broadband provider and speed:
      BT Infinity
    • Location:
      South Hampshire
    • time of issue:
Every single time I open MSE in browser, irrespective of time
    • Is the problem consistent or intermittent?
      Consistent
    • How does it manifest itself?
Only on first load in each browser tab session

I can see in the lower left of the browser window that images.moneysavingexpert is loading at the time.

I'm currently running Old Look, New Masthead. Not had a problem in the slightest with any browser I've tried - maybe worth a try for you to see if it was this causing the issue ?

That was one of the first things I tried and it made not a jot of difference.
I do try various different settings, I have completely removed my browser and downloaded another version from a different site, I have even tried it without my AV switched on (dangerous I know)
So far about the only thing left to try is a reboot of my computer and start from scratch but having had to do that a couple of times before, I am reluctant to do it just because this site and only this site is running slow after changes made to it by the site owners.

Worse than ever logging in this morning. :(

Page hung for ages (worst it's ever been) then when it progressed to the 'thank you for logging in' screen a small square box quickly closed in the centre of the screen.

It was instant, and like one of those things when a background process that you don't see, closes. You just see the outline of a box closing very quickly. Does that make sense? No idea how else to describe it.
