I work for a bank and we always look to see if any charge refunds have been given in the past, and if so we ask them to contact the company. A lot of companies do pay out of they have made an error, as you say why should you pay, it isnt your fault
If not I would defo do the claiming back from RBS, its pointless ringing the branch and speaking to them, have you written out your letters ?
well, the one of the companies sent me a link so that I could get a refund which is a month a half ago and still no refund! but I still wont get the overlimit fee back! £12 for sod all .
apparently the duplicate payment is 'showing on the account' yet it is????? don't ask me how that works! and when I rang up again and explained that another customer service agent told me the amount to pay but got it a bit wrong they said that I had't spoke to anyone as there is nothing showing on my records (I rang from work - if I had rang from my mobile I could have recorded it - I really shouldn't have to do that though).
I worked for a call centre once and if there is no record of someone calling up it is either because they couldn't be bothered to add a note or they used a shortcut to get out of the account with out updating it (they always say that they can't do that - yes.. they can!!! all Call centres can!!!
The other reason for no note on the account is because the computer systems arn't designed for that many people to be using it at the same time so it crashes constantly and you have to pretend that everything is fine and keep talking to the customer until it comes back up or just bluff your way through! And yes that is part of the job description... if you don't you lose £200 out of your wages as it counts as a quality issue! I was honest so I lost chunks out of my wages - I will never do that job again no matter how desperate!
I'm just glad it's not £30 a time like before!but I love the way that RBS automatically assume that I'm a lier and I did it on purpose.. I can't afford to waste money on thin air!
well, as long as I get most of my charges back then I don't mind too much... I will then leave the account so that there is large amount and can't go over!Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later datenow at Uni as a Mature student -update: now has a First Class BA!0 -
Hope someone can help me with this one, I have looked through loads on here and cant seem to find the answer.
Anyway, I am at the stage of apply to small claims court but problem is I am in England, they are in Scotland and they have different rules. Apparently you cannot claim throught the English courts? And you can only claim 5 years charges and only up to £750????? Can any one shed any light on this one and let me know what to do, many thanks in advance, Debbie0 -
YOU are in England so Scottish laws do not have to worry you. The Reclaim Bank Charges Help Thread gives addresses for all the main banks and says
However if you are using MCOL you have to use an address in England or Wales for your bank and if the registered address is in Scotland such as the Royal Bank of Scotland then use your local branch address if this is in England or one of the main London addresses.
It does give a London address for RBOS as well.
Additionally, read this thread:

My husbands bank charges with rbs came to just over £1000 after weks and weeks we have just rec'd offer of £350.
Should we accept or does anyone out there think if we turned it down we would definitely get a better offer.
Unfortunately we are skint at the moment and so are considering the £350 but still dont want to be hasty.
Any advice would be gratefully rec'd.0 -
Give them a ring and ask them nicely if they will up their offer to an acceptable amount to stop you taking them to court.0

HI, can someone advise when claiming bank charges are you able to claim charges to accounts for going beyond agreed overdraft limits?0
-
Yes, you'll find the list of what you can and can't claim in the Reclaim Help Thread which is linked in my signature.0

thanks for your reply - all the more to claim back
my situation at the mo - have received 2 lots of statements and awaiting 2 more (we had changed branch previously).
Should I just claim for what I have as the outstanding 2 statements are only for one year or hang fire to check if there are any I can reclaim? Started this process way back in February and becoming impatient!
Also should I send my request for reclaiming charges to my local branch or to the main one in Edinburgh?? and if its Edinburgh might someone have their address?
Thanks again0 -
Hi everyone, just joined here today as I have just requested the bank (RBS) to send out a list of all the bank charges incurred in the last 6 years. I know how to go about this but can anyone tell me if they have went through the process with RBS and if they had any success?
Thanks
Caroline0
