Called RBS yesterday as my 8 weeks is ip today and I have not received anything they said an offer letter had been generated and I would recieve it by next week. However I did call them 2 weeks ago and they said I would recieve it by the 27th (today) not seen todays post, already at work but going off the conversation yesterday I am not confident it will the there when I get home. Anybody had a similar thing with RBS and any idea what tack I should take.
Hi Wigstig,if they said they've sent you a letter then they will have,it will have been sent 2nd class post, there may have also been a problem with the post due to the floods,(we didn't receive any post yesterday as sheffield was really badly flooded). We were told by rbs they had eight weeks to deal with claims,we received our offer within the eight weeks,so you should receive yours hopefully very shortly ,they also usually offer round about the full amount but no interest. GOODLUCK :)

I rang last week as the 8 weeks were nearly up and was told an offer letter had been generated for my claim received on 2nd May.
Got the offer letter this morning for the FULL amount of £4225!!!
Well worth the wait and the £1.30 it cost me to send only one letter by registered post.
As most people have said, wait the 8 weeks and be pleasant if you contact them and RBS are usually very good.
congratulations on getting your money back ,it feels really good when you finally receive that letter doesn't it.Now think of something really nice to treat yourself to! WELLDONE :T :j

Thanks for your response. As I said 8 weeks is up today but will give it until next week and see what happens before I call them again. They do seem very easy to deal with especially when you read some of the other horror stories posted on here of peoples experiences dealing with some other banks.

Sorry i meant to say that they sent our letter on 1st of june, and we received it on the 6th,if you read the previous post from jimnrhi1 it might give you a bit more hope, you never know there might be a big envelope waiting for you when you get home (hopefully),but if not then you're right to give them until next week.Goodluck again
  • I would just like to thank everyone for replying to my query regarding the 6-8 week wait, after RBS initial response. It is heartening to read and hear that most of you seem to be experiencing something positive. I'm sure over the years of dealing with RBS and their charges we have all been doubtful to see anything positive from them. I know I may be premature in my minor celebration, but I want you all to know that this certainly feels a positive step and challenging such an establishment as the RBS, does not feel so daunting when I know you are all there with your feedback. Once agian massive thanks for the support. I will keep you posted on my journey with recouping my charges.

Hi LiviLad,it definately does give you a lot of encouragement when you read other peoples success stories, and you feel a bit more heartened when you see advice from Edinburghlass, she really gave me hope over waiting the 6-8 weeks, and she is right they do usually come up with a good offer .Keep everyone posted,it's always good to hear other peoples success stories(no doubt you will be a success story in a few weeks).:) :money:

Heres my story with Royal Bank of Scotland

Claimed on 2 accounts closed over 5 years ago, didn't want to go down the court route as I live in Scotland and can only claim 5 years, thought I would just chance my luck.

    Sent LBA on 26th April.

Reply on 1st May - we are considering your claim etc etc.

Forgot about claim due to exams etc and really didnt think I stood a chance with claim being 2001-2002, but phoned on 6th week and asked for progress of claim and was told that I was near 'top' of list and if I waited to the 8 weeks were up I would receive an offer. Now into 9th week and phoned yesterday and was told that offer had been sent out on the 18th June and I would recieve within 10 days.

Received offer this morning of 1515.00 and 507.85, called them and said I would accept, they said cheque would be sent out 10/14 days (maybe sooner)after letters received back.

    Definitely worth the wait

    xx

p.s. accounts were joint with ex but we had split up at time of charges so he signed letter to say they should pay any offer to me (must've been in a good mood that day lol)

Recieved my offer letter when I got home last night. Full amount less interest £3909. Does anyone know the fax number you can use to send your reply through to, as Royal Mail are on strike today and other days, don't fancy it getting stuck in the post Royal Mail are not the best when they are not on strike let alone then they are.
