Oh, by the way, which number did you call? I have been using the 0800 0155 035. I hope the postal strike won't hold things up too much!!!
I rang the 0845 3030 442 number that was on their letter heading. THis is the Customer Relations Support Unit in Edingburgh
Good luck

Bank: Royal Bank of Scotland Royalties Gold Account
Amount Reclaimed:£3500
Amount they paid:£2960
The story:
Using template letter 1 I requested 6 yrs backdated statements on 01/04/07 sending £10 fee which they kept (although partner also claiming from Midland was sent his fee back) I recieved statements within two weeks.
Using template letter 2 Sent demand of refund of all and I mean all everythig I could think of charges on 21/04/07 recieved letter back of acknowledgement a week later . Recieved offer of settlement on 21/06/07 no quibbles other than what amounted to them saying you agreed our terms on opening account blah blah if you dont accept this offer and take us to court we will reduce your account to basic keyline account blah blah then offered me the settlement figure above. Happy to accept this as I had added the monthly £12 service fees to push my luck! Sent signed agreement back to them same day now just waiting for the notes to slide back into my account So all in all got all my money back as well as kept my Royalties Gold account!! well chuffed!!!
Now who shall I go for next???? A big thanks to Martin xxxx

You can go back to the bank and suggest you will accept the £2300 and ask that the court fees be added to the £2300 as you had already paid this before they said they would settle your claim.
Thanks for your reply... first, I wish to address the question you replied to about ignoring the bank's defence;I then recieved the usual Cobbets letter asking for extra info blah blah blah (even though I had supplied RBS with a break down of my claim with photocopied & highlighted statements etc... and after asking around on here, I decided to ignore Cobbets & only respond to any court requests.
If you asked around on here you would have been told to send them your list/spreadsheet of the charges you are claiming but you decided to ignore?
When I initially asked about this, the 1st reply I recieved was here, which let me to believe I was ok to not respond to the bank's solicitors.
I've probably done wrong by not responding to them... if so, how should I put this right, or is it too late?
My question about accepting the "goodwill gesture and continuing with the claim for the remaining balance was worded badly by myself (partly to me rushing the question whilst in work & not having all the details with me at the time).
My claim was for £2697.28, plus a calculated £695.64 gained in interest. The banks offer of "goodwill and without admission of liability or error", as "full and final settlement of [my] complaint" was for £2388.28, which I believe to be approx 88.5% of the flat claim. Now, I have so far spent £350 in court fees, so believe the offer to be £659 short without considering the interest. For this reason, I am interested in accepting "without prejudice" and continuing my claim to atleast seek back the £659.... the interest would be a nice bonus, but not the reason for continuing.
Many thanks for your help so far... I've not made things easy by being so vaugue

Right, I see where you got that from however, generally, the advice in that thread is to give them the list of your details of charges but you don't need to reply to the rest.

As you can see by other user's experiences, its worth while ringing the bank, number above I believe, and saying you will accept the full offer of your claim of 2697.28 plus your court fees as due to them not replying you have had to outlay this money and point out that if they don't make this offer they will then have to pay the interest as well.0 -
Can you confirm the number for me? I've just tried to do this, using the number on the letter they sent me (0845 3030442), but they didn't seem willing to budge. They just said if I didn't want to accept their offer, I would have to continue with the court case.
Was that the correct number to ring? And would I be better to send a letter, so I can take a copy of it into court with me?
Thanks,

I have just received a reply to my request for charges letter from RBOS, stating
"We are currently considering your claim. Given the work involved in assessing your claim we anticipate that we will be in a position to respond within 6-7 weeks, but will endeavour to do so sooner if we are able to."
What does the forum think I should do.
Thanks

Give them the time they ask for and you will get an offer from them as most of the RBS customers have.0

I wrote to RBS on April 12th asking for statement info but havent heard anything from them. They cashed the £10 cheque on 5th June, anyone had similar problems with them and should i go to the information commissioner?0

Folks, I sent off my first letter last week 20th, and received a letter on the 25th, accepting my enquiry for reimbursment of fees applied to my account. However they have said they are currently considering my claim. due to the work involved in assessing the claim they anticipate the they will be in a position to respond within 6-7 weeks, but will endeavour to do so sooner if they are able. (this is a reply from the Customer Relation Support Unit, and not the branch my account was held at, where my first letter went to.)
Is this a standard reply from RBS? I know it is down to me to set the timetable, but wish to hear if anyone has had any similar issue with their own banks, after their first letter?0
