Good Evening Everyone.
I was due to receive an offer from RBS on the 22nd June( end of waiting 8 weeks). i decided to give them a call today to see if they had come up with an offer. To my delight/surprise the guy on the phone said "we have validated your account and you will receive an offer in writing within the next 10 days". I asked if he knew what the offer was going to be and he said "£2000". This is the Full Amount exc interest that I was claiming for. So just waiting for the letter now. I could finally get the chance to post on the Success Thread!!!! So it does pay to give them the full 8 weeks. The offer is perfect. Will let you all know when the letter arrives.

Fingers crossed I receive the full amount (£3,973.01 exc interest) too, so I can join you over in the Success Thread!
I'm pleasantly surprised by the consistency of RBS at paying out and if I'd have known this about them, I may not have have commenced proceedings with MCOL.RBS Buster!0 -
Hi,
I went through the process and in the space of 7 wks from when i sent letter i got the full amount due including interest of £954.
this was in january so they may have chenged their criteria, but hey a success story at least,
They also let me keep my account.......but maybe that due to the fac i have my mortgage with them :rotfl:0 -
My claim was received by RBS on the 26th April. From a combination of posts on this thread and calls to the Customer relations Unit, I was able to wait for an offer. Dated the 14th June and received on Monday my offer duly came through: £1762 (the full amount minus the interest) which I have accepted and posted off the slip accepting it. I am slightly concerned that it seems to take them 14 days to pay this into your account.
Has anyone timed how long it does take from replying to their offer to the money being credited?0 -
RBS are speeding up!
I received my statment and returned the next template letter the same day. A week later I received the standard letter dated 24th May which said I would hear within 6-7 weeks. I rang after a couple of weeks and was told it would be around 7-8 weeks as they were so busy - this would have been mid to late july. I was prepared to wait rather than have the stress of going to court.
I've just rung again and been told they are getting through the claims a lot quicker and have had my case back from the validation department and an offer letter will be out this week.
She couldn't tell me the figure over the phone - i hope hat doesn't mean its bad news!
The woman was very nice and said she was pleased that they were speeding up at last sa the last thing they want are angry customers.
On the other hand Natwest are taking longer and its the same company!!!0 -

Hi all .. at the end of March I sent off a claim to RBS for nearly £1100. Exactly two weeks later I got a letter saying they were looking into it. Since then nothing - what do I do next?0

Give the customer service dept a call. I sent my claim in dated 3rd May and they told me i had an offer over the phone.

Don't panic!! I too had same thing with Royal Bank of Scotland. Sent letter asking for repayment of my charges, and giving them the usual 14 days to respond but heard nothing back from them in that time so gave them another 7 days and then rang them. Was told that 14 days was unrealistic and they had 8 weeks from the day they received my request but should get an offer letter at around 7 weeks. I thought they were trying to fob me off, but sure enough, end of that 7th week I got the standard "we believe our charges are fair blah, blah we accept no liability etc" They then offered me "as a goodwill gesture" the sum of £2293
(£270 less than my claim) which i have accepted as I had already decided that if I could get £1800 or even £2000, I would be very happy. So stick with it

Thanks for that ElaineE. Our standard letter was dated 23rd May and we were told last week we would have offer by 19th July at latest. Might give them a call in the morning to see if we can expect our letter a bit sooner. Fingers crossed! Thanks
Oh, by the way, which number did you call? I have been using the 0800 0155 035. I hope the postal strike won't hold things up too much!!!0
