Might seem like a strange question but...what age are you? If you have an R21 account (ie you are between 16 and 21) the £10 is probably a penalty charge and you can claim it back.
The charges for the 3 levels of Royalties accounts (as far as i know) are £6, £12 and £15. So it doesn't seem like you have any of them. Plus if you had Royalties Gold or Premier you would be getting £250 of your o/d interest free so you wouldn't be paying that much interest.
Think the best bet is to get the bank to confirm exactly what the charge is and then take it from there.
  • I decided to go ahead and call the Customer Relations Unit in Edinburgh this morning as other forum members said that they were helpful. I got straight through to an extremely friendly lady who informed me that an offer letter had been generated on Friday 8th June. To date, I still haven't received this letter for which she profusely apologised and assured me that I should receive another by Monday 25th June, at the very latest. Although she didn't know how much I'd been offered, she did say that they were being good in honouring the entire amount claimed.

Perhaps it's worth making a phone call after all, as it seems my offer letter was generated exactly 8 weeks to the day (Friday 8th June) from receiving their initial acknowledgement letter to my claim, back on Friday 13th April.

Fingers crossed, they'll make a fair offer and I won't have to 'see 'em in court'.

I've just got a letter offering half the money... but they seem to have missed off several charges!
they sent me a table that shows each years amount of charges and they put four years as 0... my statements show charges and there are definately no refunds! I will be sending a lba letter and I will start court action in a weeks time (I'll allow a couple of days for postage!)
Hopefully they will send a letter saying about waiting 7/8 weeks instead to get the money back rather than court!

i think i was burying my head in the sand before i checked the amounts of money that RBS have charged us. in a 10 day period in march 2004 we ere charged £350!!!!!

altogether they owe us just short of £4000! it is scandelous that they just take the money out of your account, disgraceful!

fingers crossed that we dont have too much trouble. heres hoping.

sent the letter asking for charges back on the 13th june (i think, give or take a day) got a letter back today (dated 15th june)

thank you for your recent letter regarding the fees applied to your account.

we are currently considering your claim. given the work involved in assessing your claim we anticipate that we wil be in a position to respond within 6-7 weeks, but will endeavour to do so sooner if we are able to.

does it look promising, i am going to allow them the time specified i think as from previou posts RBS have been very reasonable so i will allow them to do what they need to and hope for the best. :)

I did the same this morning after 7 weeks has lapsed. They were indeed very helpful and I was told my offer letter would reach me within 7 days. It would appear that as far as RBS are concerned if you give them the time they more often than not send an offer. What it is yet I don't know...........

Hi,yes you're right they have been really good at coming up with a good offer, usually roundabout the full amount of charges,so just hang in there and you should receive an offer in a few weeks! GOODLUCK:money:

I got my offer letter this morning, after their initial "we are looking into your claim" response dated 28 April. It does work :)

I'm accepting their offer but supposing they receive it on Friday, when can I realistically expect the cash to be in my account?

    Hi aneclair

They informed me this morning that it can take up to 14 days for the money to be credited into your account, from when they receive the signed offer letter back.

Out of interest, did they offer you the full amount back?

Hmmm.. rather annoying when it's just the push of a button (so I'm told). Oh well, its money I thought I'd never see again so...

They offered me within £300 of my claim. I'm moving house soon and I'd rather have it now than waste time/effort for another month or two. Thanks for your reply :) I'm off to find a Dominos coupon :D
