What has the Ulster bank got to do with the Royal Bank of Scotland; the title and therefore the subject matter of this thread?

Have you read the MSE guide about reclaiming bank charges?

  • Was wondering what you guys think of my case before I send it off.

I would like to reclaim the charges on my RBS royalties premier account. I've been paying the £15 a month fee for the last 5 years. The advisor in branch added it to my account when my overdraft was increased way beyond my monthly earnings. They "temporarily" increased it while I was applying for a loan. The loan was later declined but there was no way I would ever be able to pay back the huge overdraft any time soon. Yes, I think it does decrease the interest on my overdraft but im not sure. I've never used the royalties for anything else. I don't have a car, I don't go on holiday, basically I'll never use it for anything else other than cheaper interest on my overdraft. The overdraft and royalties account should never have been sold to me. Any advice or pointers you could give would be much appreciated!!! :)
  • I only recently became aware you could reclaim bank charges, but how long can you go back?

I had 2 accounts with the royal bank of scotland closing both in 1997 due to riddiculous charges(660 in the last month alone) .

1: could i claim and how far back?
2: can i obtain bank account details and types of accounts?

3 can i claim back royalty account fees as well?

Any help or advice greatly appreciated .

    Thanks

The Banks won a high court case on bank charges in 2009, so whoever informed you that they were "reclaimable" is around seven years too late.

You are NINETEEN years too late to "reclaim" yours..
