I successfully reclaimed my charges of the past 6 years from RBS - without batting an eyelid - they paid - it was about £424 and I thought - Ooh I havent been quite so naughty then! So lets get the present situation into perspective. Ive just been slapped with charges for over £230. I spoke to my RBS adviser 2 or 3 times last week and at no time did she tell me there was any problem with my account - she knew I was in bed with the flu. I'm changing from weekly pay to monthly and re-arranging everything to suit. Only its not going very smoothly. I had £100 "buffer" of my own in there but the Council Tax came off ahead of time which through 2 cheques off - so RBS bounced them twice. AND although I cancelled my contact lenses LAST MARCH - suddenly they decided I needed some more - I received the pack at home and a direct debit I wasnt expecting on my account at exactly the wrong time. I intend to plead with the manager (anyone who'll listen) to restore my charges because if they don't then I have enough to pay the bills but no money for food, petrol or anything else - till 28th Feb. I'm really really upset about this. January was difficult enough. Oh and I'm SUPPOSED to be a Premier customer and pay £15 for this. What DO I do if they say "nope - starve biatch"? You sign a letter when you reclaim that you'll never do it again on pain of everything being cancelled and I have a BIG loan with them!0

I've received a very nice email from RBS Customer Service who are looking into all the issues I raised in my letter. Fingers crossed they can offer me some sort of consolation for all the hassle Ive received from their branch and hopefully too, they restore the £233 of charges they've slapped on my account.0

Hi,
just wondering if someone could advise me on this problem.
I have had a court claim dating back to July 07 which i was told was put on hold until the test case was decided. The problem i have is the bank say i owe them almost £1500 ( this is from charges). I worked it out with interest that they owe me nearly £3700 over the six year period. The bank put it in the hands of westcot who have since said they are no longer dealing with it because I have made a claim and it has gone to court. I then received a letter from Cobbetts (rbs solicitors) to say the claim was on hold until after the court case. However yesterday i received a letter from a different solicitor to say i need to pay the amount in full in 10 days or receive a court summons. I am getting really worried as I thought I had to wait until after the court case. Do I have to pay this amount ( i cannot afford to pay it in full) or do i contact cobbetts, rbs or the new solicitors. Are they trying to frighten me into paying? What do i have to do? Can anyone help? Very confused.
Thanks in advance

Hi,
just an update. Spoke to the NEW solicitors yesterday to let them know I was claiming my charges & it was on hold. They were not interested, just told me they would hold it for 14 days then the baliffs would be calling. A VERY rude & obnoxious bloke I spoke too. Not very helpful at all. Can anyone advice me as the clock is ticking.

Scarpetta...as far as I am aware, Bailiff's can't just "call" without a court order. Unless you have already had this debt dealt with in court (CCJ) I would imagine the solicitors are just employing scare tactics.
Oh, how I hate RBOS.0 -
I got a reply from RBS. Basically "Sorry - here's £50" . So Ive taken it to the Financial Ombusman and Watchdog and ANYONE else who'll listen are next. Yesterday, Egg tried to debit my account - despite my changing the payment date (last month) to 28th. RBS bounced it and charged me another £38 - so the £50 they gave me has gone again. I have £50 in the bank and I don't get paid till the 28th. Specsavers have lost two faxes (they'd asked for a copy of my bank statement) so they can refund the charge because I cancelled my account with Specsavers last September so why they suddenly decided to resurrect the debit????
I can't convey HOW upset I am with all of this. All we were ever talking about was changing the dates of all my bills to the 28th or after and only 3 organisations actually got it right. The bank said something about "increased borrowing" but I'm not spending any more money - I'm changing the same amounts in payment to a slightly later date which no-one seemed to have a problem with when asked but few have actually done. And the BANK - well they've just stuck the knife in.
Time to keep my money under the mattress I think.

Hi,
thank you for your reply, no it has not gone to court yet. I think i will send copies of the letters i have received from RBS, Cobbetts & Wescot to the new solicitors & then wait for their reply. I also think I will be contacting Rbs AGAIN & wait for an answer off someone. If they take me to court with this, do you think i can put a stop to it until after the OFT case?
I will keep you updated!
Thank you

Could someone be kind enough to advise on the following? (*cough* arriving a bit late, I know...)
ADVISE OF SERVICE CHARGE FOR THE PERIOD 9 NOVEMBER TO 8 DECEMBER
The service charge is to be deducted from your account number ******** on 28 December 2005 is £43.00
Basis of charge
The charge us based on a maintainance charge of - £28.00
plus fee of - £15.00
Service charge to be applied - £43.00
ADVICE OF OVERDRAFT INTEREST FOR THE PERIOD 9 NOVEMBER TO 8 DECEMBER 2005
The Overdraft limit interest accrued on the above is £16.07
The current unauthorised rate applicable is 2.20% per month, effective
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. If I can just get my head round this I might be on to something! (just to ad this was a Royalties Premier account)0 -
What you as well! It looks like RBS were under pressure at their branches to filch as much money from their customers as they could in November
) I can't advise, I can only empathise. I'm not qualified. Still going through a terrible carry on because it wasnt me who messed up but three other organisations. I would take responsibility if it was me - but it wasn't. Gradually they are admitting they ignored my instructions and it looks like RBS will have no choice but to pay me my money back. Meanwhile I've been on an enforced diet (no money for shopping or anything else really).

^^^^ I should have noted that these charges date back to November 2005 (is I could get some pointers then I know how to proceed.), I was using this as an example, but I have many many more! Many thanks for your comments, laalaa41, it's a damn shame when this happens and it's a set back. I hope this month hasn't been too much of a struggle for you, I can relate completely, I've been there, on too many occassions!Superly_Vince wrote: »ADVISE OF SERVICE CHARGE FOR THE PERIOD 9 NOVEMBER TO 8 DECEMBER

So, does anyone have any advise on the above? I could really use a hand.0
