Phone them up and as if they will pay the full amount as they will negotiate. Do check your claim first though as it could be they aren't offering the full amount as they don't agree on the £200 difference.
  • At last! Got all my statements together and my total reclaims is £2,274! Have used the template here and listed all the account charges - will I now send it recorded delivery to the local branch?

Incidentally I started this process way back in February..

How do you get bank statement for the last 6 years if you've lost your account number on a closed account?

    Cheers

  • I'm about to send a letter to the RBS asking for a list of charges against my account - however - we hold 4 accounts with RBS. Am I able to request details of charges against ALL of these accounts on the SAME letter (and for the same £10) or do I need to ask about each one seperately and send £40?

I sent the 'self-litigation fee' letter and the response was - as stated in our last letter, this is our final response' - saying no to refund of charges.

I was just wondering why some people have got letters saying wait 7/8 weeks and some havn't (?) ... :o I will have to go via mycol now.

    Do I take it 'personally'?

    Hi Matt,

That letter seems standard, you'll probably then get another one in 14 days from customer relations explaing they will take 6-7 weeks. By all means, write and ask them to speed things up. I did and whilst they didn't get back to me any quicker, they certainly didn't forget about me. I asked for my charges back 22nd May amounting to £3500. 54 [I didn't claim interest; but would ahve done had it gone to the Financial Ombudsman], 5 weeks passed nothing, I wrote a couple of letters to Customer Care and Customer relations [I can give you names and addresses if need be] and I warned that if I did not hear within those 7 weeks I would be filing a complaint with the ombudman. On the 18th of July [1 day before there deadline] I had a letter offering the full £3500. 54. I accepted. Keep at them and keep reiterating that you don't want to take action but if they cannot deal with this within a 7 week timeframe you have no choice but to invoke it. Hope this helps!!
Slowly but surely getting rid of my debts ;)

Bank reclaiming: £3500 RBS [achieved June 2007]
Capital One £96 [achieved Feb 08], Virgin MBNA £800 [achieved October 2008]

I did to RBS Mastercard on a closed account. They did at first try to stall but I just replied again with detailsand sadi they should recheck. They sent them fairly promptly then. There's other threads and posts re this.
  • Got a reply to my claim on 160507. Hadn't heard anything so I chased them up on 170707. Spoke to girl who said they had posted me an offer which would take up to 10 working days to arrive. She claimed she couldn't say how much it was but reckoned it should arrive by Monday (230707) at the latest. Guess what? No show! Now I ring up and get told of this new court case and can't actually speak to anyone. I'm well !!!!ed off as I was clearly lied to and fobbed off - Anyone know if there's anything I can do about it?

    Looby,

My wife and I have 3 accounts with RBS. We asked for the statements on one letter and sent £10. They sent 2 sets of statements back and asked for a further £5 for the third set so I assume they want £5 for each account.
