RBS just replied to my first letter stating that they would be able to respond to my claim in 6 to 7 weeks. (despite the fact that I had given them a two week deadline) I'm thinking I should write back telling them they have one week from receipt of letter, does anyone know if this is still worth it given the stuff about a test case?
Thanks for any help.0 -
The answer is that they will say that they are no longer dealing with claims until the test case has been responded on. However, the advice that some sites are giving is to keep going because if your case is set aside, the bank cannot stop you under the statute of limitations act 6 year rule because you would have filed earlier than that date.0

I am not on the banks side, but with the amount of claims they are looking at, they need the extra time. 2 weeks is no longer long enough. The FSA allow 8 WEEKS for a DECISION so they aren't breaking any rules by taking 6-7 weeks. Wait the time they want and they'll most likely deliver. Read other's posts including my earlier ones. Put yourself in their position - you get a funny customer and a polite one. Which one are you more likely to serve with speed and professionalism? The polite one of course. They shouldn't, but it happens everywhere. Give them a call in a few weeks and ask them how they're doing. That of course depneds on this test case going on. I am not sure if they have stopped all claim work or are not accepting any new claims.0 -
Hello,
I requested the list of transactions from NatWest and because I haven't used a cheque book for years (probably would take a few weeks to get a new one), I asked them in the letter to debit my card in question (details provided, etc). Just to be sure I called their helpline, to confirm. Nah, no problem, they'd charge your card.
Now I got the reply on Friday from NatWest with a blah blah and the key information: The fee for this service is £5 which covers all account requested. Please supply cheque / postal order, etc, We cannot accept cash.
In essence, they !!!!ed on my letter when I told them in plain English to charge my account with the fee. Should I tell them ultrapolitely to READ my original letter, charge my card and please don't forget you have 35 days and counting to comply or else, or should I send them the damn postal order and pretend nothing happened? I would prefer the first option, but quoting a phone call is worthless, does anyone know an email for natwest customer services, so that I get it in "writing"? Then I'd be happy to attach it to my reply and tell them to get a grip.
p.s. although, in the light of the joint defense by the Banks in the last few days - which will take probably years to close, it all might be a pointless exercise.
Regards,

Wow.. I've sent them 3 letters and I didn't get the respond in 6/7 weeks letter... rather alot people have got their refund in that time frame without going to court!
I guess I got someone in a cranky mood!
I'm thinking of accepting the offer of £135.68 (I will continue my other two claims as I have one court date (sept) and waiting for the other date: two months since mycol ended!!!).
but I have sent a LBA stating that I would accept this partial offer... blah blah... can I change my mind???
anyone know if this would work.. or if they say no again and I go to court it might work against me (depending on the test case obviously!)

Can you tell me when you sent the letters to them? and did they say no the 1st time then made the half offer???
I take it you got the refund before the test case news?
I'm confused.. I've sent 3 letters so far with only one offer of £135 - (the full amount would be £241 charges + includes interest). some other people get the 6/7 weeks letter and get paid... I was going to start mycol on Tuesday (payday!) but with the new test case maybe I should just accept this one... 2 others already going through mycol!

Apologies if this has already been answered.
I have recently written to RBS to request reimbursement of bank charges and have received a reply advising "given the work involved in assessing your claim we anticipate that we will be in a position to respond within 6-7 weeks, but will endeavour to do so sooner if we are able to". As I gave them 14 days to respond should I send a further letter requesting immediate consideration of my claim, or allow them up to 7 weeks to reply?0 -
I would do neither and simply issue when the 14 days expires. If you are more relaxed than me you could wait the 7 weeks but if you get a reply I for one would be surprised. As I am not the Pope or legally qualified I may be wrong so feel free to get a second opinion from a qualified person0

Dear ...

Ref: ..
Further to our correspondence mid May of this year, I have yet to hear anything else on the progress of my claim. I understand that these particular matters are somewhat complex but having not had any indication (by post) since the middle May from either yourself or RBS, I feel is disheartening to say the least. After all, my aim is to recoup some, if not all of the money I have lost due to excessive charges.
I made the decision to call the relations unit on 0800 015 5035 roughly around the 8th of July. The agent informed me that an offer letter had been “generated” on the 2nd of July and that it was virtually a day or 2 away from falling in my letterbox. I asked how much the reimburse offer was for and I was told on the very same call that it would be in the region of £1300. (nothing less*). As you can tell from the date at the top of this letter, that offer letter was apparently created and sent almost a month ago and yet it’s still to arrive. I’ve since called time and again and been told another letter would be sent and sorry that the original letter hasnt been delivered. 3 times the letter has supposedly been sent now and I haven’t received any of them.
Therefore, I am now writing to recover the costs for the said amount of £1300 as I have little faith in the offer letter actually turning up at my home. I would be grateful if you could send me a cheque to reach me within 14 days of the date of this letter.
If you require any additional information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you in anticipation of your co-operation.

Yours sincerely,0
