I managed to use the wrong address for RBS mycol! I must have had a brain meltdown... I have used that address previously when sending letters and I got a response back quickly so I'm hoping this will not make a difference to the mycol proceedings!
Has anyone had to actual attend court with RBS or do they pay up just before the court date?
Light bulb moment April 07: [strike]£3,655 [/strike] Oct 07: [strike]£2,220[/strike] now 0 - 3 years of Uni debt to be added at a later date :o:D

  • Hi,

I've sent my last letter to the bank (RBS) and still heard nothing about my claim. I live in England but my branch is in Glasgow, this causes problems on mcol. Any advice on what address to use? Also, when I sent my last letter to my bank I thought what the hell and sent a letter asking for my statements to my credit card company (Mint), they got back to me very quickly with the statements and offered me £77 as a goodwill gesture. The total charges are £192. Is this strange - I hadn't even asked them for money! I thought that because Mint is owned by RBS they might be seeing if I would accept or decline the initial amount.

Any advice would be really appreciated as I dont have a clue what I should do now.

    Thanks

    Lynsey

Could you not change your branch to one in England or would that mess up the whole thing? I assume your account number would remain the same, just your sort code would change.

RBS made us an offer on 19th July - we received 25th July (They send 2nd class!) We accepted offer and sent off next day. Today I phoned them and was told by very snooty woman after being kept on hold for 42.5 minutes that "didn't I listen to the recorded message" when I said I did, she looked up our claim and said "that as we didn't receive the acceptance until the 31st July, you will be sent another letter and will need to accept that".....she wouldn't say if the offer was the same or not..............I don't think it is fair that we are penalised for the postal strike, we accepted before the test case announcement. Still, lucky to get anything I suppose.

RBS did the same with us. Letter dated 19th July and offer received and sent back on the 26th July. Finally arrived there 30th July. I phoned the chief executive office and got a lovely guy who has checked this letter is on way. Allegedly sent yesterday. If I do not receive it tommorrow I've to call him and he'll sort it out for me. Also I've to fax the letter back to him so he can sort out the next part! Hopefully crediting my account!! The telephone number is 0131 556 8555. Then ask to be put through to the chief executive office. When they ask why tell them a member of the team is dealing with a concern for you. Good luck!!

    Hi

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but loooked in the charges help thread and it didn't look like the right place for my question!
My sister banks with Royal Bank of Scotland and has told me that they took 9 x £38 charges from her account last month. It is my understanding that, for example, Barclays Bank can only take 3 x charges in any one month period. Can anybody tell me if there is a limit with the Royal Bank of Scotland or not (in any one month).

    Thanks.

Winjackie - I am sure its per day I am sure its 3 per day they have a cap on, maybe have a look on their website on the terms and conditions bit.

Has anyone had an offer from RBS over the past few weeks and the money credited after the test case hold ? The reason I ask is my OH was offered an amount by RBS and it was less than half so he called up and they said they would re-evalute it, this took weeks on end and no one got back to him, he was phoning on a daily basis and the customer relations would either tell him it was on a managers desk or to take it to court. So when the news about the test case came out he sent in his original offer letter, as he would prob have to wait, or get nothing, with the postal strike and everything it didnt get there til the saturday, I had used the special delivery by the post office on the monday  which cost me £4.30  anyway there is still no sign of the money in my oh's account, I had a claim earlier in the year and they took 3 days to put the money in, so we are getting a bit anxious we might end up with nothing.

So has anyone actually had any money from RBS since the test case hold ?

    Thanks in advance

tTere is a limit on paid referral items which is capped at £90 which works out at 3 paid items if funds are not available and at the banks discretion. However the £38 charges are for items returned and not paid by the bank so not sure how these work. This is just from personal experience. I'd get her to call the local branch to query this further as they may well refund them if this is the first time. They tend not to if it's a recurring problem.
  • Hiya

Started my reclaims way back in February - took ages to get all my statements (some were in different branches) so didn't get to send of my request letter detailing charges (totalling over 2k) until 16 July. Got the standard letter re the test case dated 1st August.

Ok so I now have to wait even longer to hear what will happen - but do you reckon I should reply stating it was way back in February I got the whole process started and have been polite and patient meantime.... during which time they have repaid charges or do I just sit it out and wait in hope??

    Advice appreciated !
  • Having been offered £25 on a claim of £113 by RBS on a closed account and accepted it without prejudice they have today informed me it is only available as a final settlement so it's off to MCOL we go...

Just one question, who do i take the action against? RBS Advanta or Mint as it is now known or against The Royal Bank Of Scotland?
