This sounds all speculation - the people on the phones are numpties. Wouldn't panic.

I agree with you there, but just remember (maybe someone will remember) since I think I change the package before it did come to the end. What happen when Orange cancel the Orange in a box system? (if ppl wonder what I am talking about)

have to say looking at these old stuff now, show how tariffs and handsets have move on so much!!

My O2 XDA arrived yesterday. It's amazing - PDA, wifi, internet, email, 3mp camera, satnav - oh and it's a mobile phone. All this for a one off £100 a few years ago - and 200 free off peak mins a month. DEAL! Thanks stphnstevey

    Can I just check
    - Can these free minutes be used all weekend, just not on peak times M-Fri?
    - Only to 02 mobiles and landlines? Does this include 0845 numbers etc?

There were several options I believe.
We chose 200 off peak mins - 7pm to 7am each weekday and 7pm Friday to 7am Monday.
So calls to landlines and O2 mobiles are free during these times up to the 200 mins per month.
0845 and other non-geographic numbers used to be included but were removed a few years ago.

Calls outside the above are charged as below:
My O2 tariff: Group Net 99
    O2 to O2 off-peak UK 9.8p
    Voicemail 901 Weekend 2p
    Off-peak Standard Calls 2p
    Voicemail 901 Off Peak 2p
    O2 to O2 weekend UK 9.8p
    Peak Standard Calls 35.2p
    Voicemail 901 Peak 35.2p
    Xnet Peak Calls 48.9p
    Text (per message) 11.7p
    MMS (per message) 24.5p
    Xnet Weekend Calls 29.4p
    Mobile internet over GSM 9.8p
    O2 to O2 peak UK 35.2p
    Xnet Off-Peak Calls 29.4p
    Weekend Standard Calls 2p

Many thanks to all posters on this thread - had no idea I could upgrade for nothing. I did it online & agreed to keep my lovely 50 free minutes per month for a year and pay £zero every month and my brand new Xda zest dropped through the door 2 days later. DH will use it with his tesco sim, I'm happy with my new vodafone (paid for but excellent) HTC Hero & I'll use the 50mins in the house for landline calls - everyone happy.

And next 1st of August, I'll do it all again.

I gave up with the XDA Zest though as it had very poor battery life
  • Just to say that I just got 2 free up grades [sony ericsson w705]from 02 online As my wife and I both have PUFFL:beer:
  • Hi PUFL’s

Well thought I would share my upgrade this year with everyone. I have upgraded my phone 4 times now! In previous years this had to be done at an O2 shop but now the only way to upgrade is online.
I signed on and put my phone number in, O2 then send an upgrade code to your phone which you fill in online. You then get several different types of phones some free and some with an extra charge. You have to put in the tariff you want which in my case was KEEP THE SAME TARIFF.
I then got free delivery as well. The phone arrived the next day. The contract came in the post a couple of day’s later and states like online KEEP THE SAME TARIFF.
This is exactly the same as when I did the upgrade in store.
I plumbed for the Sony Erickson W705 mainly for the WiFi capability. The wife is pleased with her new phone which she pinched straight away!

    Good luck everyone.
