Done some research on this years upgrade.

O2 are trying to get people off oldr tarrifs by the look of things.

therefore there are NO free handsets available instore on legacy tarrifs. However, you can still get a pretty decent phone if you pay a £50 fee so still a bargain.

The best option is to upgrade online - plenty of free handsets there.

Just make sure you don't upgrade over the phone - that option never works.

not sure of the specifics of the pay upfront for life however would try and speak to someone in complaints and they may handle more effectively. think you can initiate a review by emailing the facts to: complaintreviewservice@o2.com

there is also an o2 representative somewhere on the forums whom you may be able to discuss with

Thank you for your help.I was offered an upgrade phone in December and now notice as of this month £30 charges for this and last month(2 x £15). I repeatedly asked if this would effect my contract and was told no it was only a phone upgrade Have taken your advice and contacted review service see how things go now.

I've popped your thread into this previous one with users who had this contract and in post 83 you'll find a link to the first thread about it.
