    Hi Ralf,

TYpe out the charges in the following format:

Charge value, Date of charge, Interest (if you are charing them), Total.

That will be sufficent for any claim.

You forgot the column "reason for charge".

It will be asked for by the bank's solicitors if it isn't there.

    Hi All,

My bf has just got his bundle of statemants in the post. They waivered the £10 fee and just sent the statements as they say it is the only way to provide him with the details of charges etc.

Does he now go through them all and add up ALL charges (including recall and interest as well as charges?) He is unsure of what charges exactly to add up - if you know what i mean??

He is suspicious that some statements have no charges - could they have 'removed' them from the statements??

    Thanks in advance -

In answer to your question below add up only the bank charges. NOT INTERSET OR RECALL. Some of mt statements had no charges so I think not

Have a read through these previous posts, especially post 8 and then the Reclaim Help Thread where you'll find a list of what you can and can't claim.

And for the reason, use what you did (ie. late payment, going over limit), not how they describe it on the statement (ie. service fee).

  • Hi,

I want to start reclaiming charges.

In the advice on MoneySavingExpert it states that the first step is to write to your bank asking for all your old statements.

I already have these for the last five years since i opened the account.

Do i still need to ask for them all or can i just skip that step and proceed from there?

    Many thanks,

    Rob.

If you already have all the statement since you opened the account then you just need to add up all your charges and then to step 2 which is when you can try to either claim interest on your charges or not.
Most people have got the full amount back without interest. I think that some people may have claimed the interest back aswell.
