As anyone on here tried to lose weight listening to a cd. I read in the you mag a couple of weeks ago about the inner voice cd lose weight now and wondered if anyone has tried it. I bought a weight loss cd from amazon a couple of weeks ago but I find the blokes voice gets on my nerves and I find it impossible to empty my head so my mind keeps wondering. But this one is music or nature with hidden subliminle messages say things like you are tall, (mabe I'll grow a couple of inches!)slim and confident. you only like healthy foods etc. any way I ordered it today and I'm hoping I'm going to lose more than the £25 it cost me.
    HOW MUCH ?

Just remember a diet is for life, so a few blips here and there are ok. Look long term and try NOT to lose over 2Ibs a week otherwise you are burning muscle tissue and losing water which will make you weaker and more likely to put the weight back on. Hope this advice helps someone..

When I get to my ideal weight I will still be monitoring what I eat and weighing myself every week. I realise I'm not in my 20's anymore and need to be more sensible..

My only fear about weight loss is the fact of excess skin around the belly, does it tone up after a while as I am a 40" waist and would be looking at a 32" come summer (doable) and wouldn't want excess flabby bits hanging around that needs cutting off? Is is that for people who are mega over weight?

I really worry about this alot. I do have a lot of weight to lose (and lose it I will), but the skin thing is concerning me. It is one of the main reasons I started going to the gym.

I saw the TV show last night about the woman who lost 30 stone - her skin was the stuff of nightmares!!

If I thought that is what I am going to look like at the end of my journey I think I would get off the bus now!

Does anyone know if this horrible skin leftovers will happen to anyone who loses a lot of weight? ie 15 to 20 stone?

Please help you guys - I am starting to panic now!!

Erlqueen, another one so close to Castleford Xscape - it's uncanny! Where do you live!

I actually live in Castleford itself :D

    Hello and welcome Becky.

I had an average day yesterday, which for me means I ate in a 'maintain' way not a 'slim' way, until about 8.00 pm. Supposed to be going to Sainsburys for a big shop and passed a new Lidl which ppl keep raving at me about - so went there instead. Picked up a tin of Sweet and Sour Chicken (no rice) and compared it against a tin of stew steak which I know is free on a red day.

    Chicken per 100 gms was 114 c, 0.8 fat
    Steak per 100 gms was 113 c, 4.8 fat

Hmm not too bad I reckoned until I got home and ate it still without rice. It was delicious! "Nothing this tasty is free" was my automatic thought so did another comparison and the carbs were 10x higher than the steak. *gulp*

wow Victory you are doing really well.Im much slower than you with 11 lb since 9 JAn.

Thank you, I have not once cheated, very hard on myself, loads of water, very determined, very focused a bit like my own personal nagger:D

I know I can do it, I want to do it but also do not want to do it for months on end to loose the incentive etc so pushing really hard tro get to ideal weight as soon as possible and then move on from there to healthy eating, much more excercise and maintaining, I am harsh I know but that is the only way I can do it and stay on it:D

I would also like to know about the skin if anyone knows...

I have 20 lb to go, lost 23 lb in 9 weeks, BMI down to 28.4.... 5 lb to go for 2 stone and then I am getting my hair stylishly chopped:eek: :rotfl:

Also being diabetic has it's benefits !! I have been diabetic for only 8 years of my whole life but it makes me not drink as I feel truly awful if I do and not hanker for sweets, cakes etc.... I bake cakes for all the family and leave them on the side for them to eat and enjoy...that doesn't bother me because I know how sugar affects my blood sugars and makes me feel as if I have done ten rounds with Frank Bruno so it is no loss not to have it now....

My problem is or was portion sizes, if I am having toast I like lots of butter, if I am having a take- away it is KFC, if it is dinner my mum used to say " crumbs you eat as much as your dad"!!! Yes, big eater me, now all that has gone, the take-aways, crisps, biscuits (they were only plain digestives ones but have gone) olives, chorizo anything and everything that is not a vegetable or fruit or porridge, shreddies or weetabix... the only suffering I have is hunger other than that I keep going because come July it is bikini time on the beach in Spain !!! xxx

Erlqueen, with regard to the chicken versus steak, you will see that the fat content is also much higher!! Since it's eaten now, I wouldn't worry about it. Write it up to experience and forget it!

Retiredlady, I think the skin question is dependent on so many factors. Some people have much more elasticity in their skin naturally, and those lucky ones will get away without too much sagginess after losing a lot of weight. Your age has a lot to do with it too. I know when I was younger I could get away with losing weight (which I did with depressing frequency, lol) but now, since my last weight loss I have got loose skin which i hate with a passion.

I would have thought it extremely unlikely that after losing 15 to 20 stone, the skin would shrink back. If you are thinking about yourself here, have you seen a doctor about it? If you are prepared to put in the effort to lose a large amount of weight, I would have thought you may get a tummy tuck (or whatever) on the NHS. It's worth asking anyway.

Victory, you are indeed hard on yourself. Whilst you are seeing brilliant results, are you living your life as you really want to. I don't want to preach, but you need to enjoy life as well. Do you feel that you can live like this for ever or will the deprivation eventually grind you down? If you lose weight too fast, you run the risk of losing lean muscle tissue, which will lower your metabolism and make it easier to gain the weight back.
If you know exactly what you're doing, I apologise and will keep my beak out :D

Off out now, see you later
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Currently I enter all the details the machines wil let me input, weight, age etc and it displays calories burnt, I then try to match or better it as well.

I've never really bothered with the calorie thing, but now I think about it, it would be quite a good measure.
I've always just gone by time but like most people my enegy levels change from day to day so it might be good on slower days to knock it down a level and keep going a bit longer and alternatively up it and get it over with a bit quicker.
I'm off to the gym right now to try that.

I too used to hate the cross trainer, I'm only little (height wise ;) ) and used to worry about falling off they're so high up. Now it's my favourite
