(Stands up in the group of fellow people who are losing weight)

Hello all, My name is Mike, Lincolnshire born - 24 years old, and want to lose weight - I am 17st/11lbs (was! - 18st/1lb), 40" waist - and my target is to lose 60lbs or 30% of my body weight before the holiday in the sun in September!

Back to the real world - Have been lurking for a while, posted in the old topics but the life just takes over. So wish to rejoin - and I must stick at all times! As I got some important events in the coming months and a target(s) in mind.

Little more about me - way back in 2005 I started to watch what I was eating and I joined a gym in the early months. I think around this time I weighed about 17st/6lb and at 22 years old - okay I was big but I didn't feel big - but I felt I really would like to shift the mound :D - so over the course of 6 months to Sept 05 I lost over 2st and came down to 15st/3lb iirc - then the distaster struck. The employer who I was working for had a major set back when the place went up in flames, I was put onto another shift/different time frame and my whole routine of gym and eating habits was shot down in flames stright away. Come Xmas 05 I was gaining weight due to stress and it got worse.... anyways... roll on to Jan 07 and 5 different jobs later - I can finally clam myself down and the stress is melting away. I feeling happier... well but the weight has come back again.... But this time with a snag - I have now got a allergy to some type of food which I can't locate to which food it is, what ever the food is doing it, its causing my arms to break out in a red rash that need steriod cream to settle down and heal. Doctor advised me to do the following:
    • Keep a food diary
    • right down what is happening with the arms
    • feel postive
    • eat more fruit/veg
    • and look forward to my appointment on the day before your b/day!

So on Feb 16 I started to watch the weight and food wise - at that point in time I weighed out at 18st/1lb   - felt so low - really I couldn't get into them suit outfit for the job so had to go out buy a new set but at 42" waist instead - feeling the shame and the penny drops now.

Roll on 2 weeks and eating masses of fruit/veg I am felling better, in fact recorded this morning a 4lb loss since I've started the food diary (the sub mind watching what you eat) But I had a naughty evening yesterday - didn't feeling like have a meal (pig out on fruit in the day) but had a bar of them Lidl mini chocolate squares - but one thing I noticed that chocolate doesn't taste the same since the revamp in the diet as they taste bitter to me now? - but the suttle clue raised its ugly head this moring - remember above about that food problem which makes me break out in a rash - well it happened today and the only change in the diet is the fact I had chocolate (NOOOOOO!!!) - sobs, my thing I like may be the root cause of the problem - so a taste will have to be done - NO Chocolates for long as I can and then have one and see if I have another outbreak after the skin has healed up (this healing takes weeks!) - Not feeling the munchies in the evenings any more...

For example my eating log for today:
    07:00 - Weetabix (S.Milk) and a brew (I can't start the day without this!)
    10:00 - 1x Orange
12:00 - Pineapple (say about 3 rings thick, fresh pineapple!) 150ml of plain yogurt, 1 Bananna
    15:00 - Some nuts (cashews :o)
18:00 - Tea at mums - (Pork Chop without the fat) spuds, carrots, green beans, brocli  and gravy :p

So for the 5 a day I must have had 6 or 7 - going good...

Anyways the targets are on the computer at the moment and will be printed off to put onto the fridge/fruit bowl - my using the 2lb loss a week the following can be met :) -
    • Mum/Dad 25th Wedding Anniversary in late April - 16st-9lbs
    • My 25th Birthday end of July - 14st/11lbs
    • Holiday to Rhodes in late Sept - 13st/9lbs
I have also written in the diary the targets and the % weight loss in 5% loss's and where they are - so if everything is correct I am all set to be 5% lighter by the end of this month - little treat in store when this happens (the car will have a trip to the body for a suttle face lift :D )

So thats my story - I hope you lasses and guys can keep me on track and I am here by email/pm to support and help (shoulder to cry on) other users.

    Mike

    Hi xlthunter:hello:

I'm sure suggs will be pleased to see another male on board. Everyone on here's really nice and supportive although I don't post as often as I should  I do read them all every day.

Having an okay week so far apart from last night when I went to my parent's house for a bit of a party but I don't think I was too bad!;)

Working tonight and tomorrow night which sometimes cause a problem as I'm sort of up for 10 hours grab a couple of hours sleep before work then up for another 10 hours so I sometimes eat chocolate if I get sleepy:o

Loopy-Lou I hope you enjoyed the curry. Try not to worry about it and just start again today afresh

Welcome Mike (can't remember your username! ) Another man, AND someone from Lincolnshire! :j I'm not the only one living in the rural backwater! Well done on your progress so far & keep at it. You sound like you're determined to do well :T

Lara I've heard nothing but horror stories about the cambridge diet. Very low calorie diets are not at all good for you. They cause your body to shut down and go into starvation mode (actually making the weight loss slower) and while you can initially lose a lot of weight quickly, it's not maintainable at all. There was a programme on BBC3 (I think) a while ago about a girl who was trying to slim down to a size zero (kinda the oposite of supersize me). She went on all sorts of diets, I think the cambridge being one of them, and she said it turned her into such a grumpy person. She felt miserable, she had no energy, she was antisocial, and she really didn't lose much weight. Obviously everyone's different, but there's no way on God's planet you would ever get me on a diet like that.
(Apologies if anyone is on the cambridge diet, just my personal opinion)

Morning to all - sorry not been around this week, very busy at work and spent a whole day doing accreditation exams, I passed, but all it means is that I can read and answer questions :p

I managed 3 sessions in the gym, 1 aquacise and a 1000m swim this week. So hopeful of a good week. The children are with me for the weekend and I was so shattered last night I cheated and did Tesco Indian last night, very nice but very naughty.

Welcome to xlt hunter the ladies are very nice in here and very helpful, just watch out for victory and her threat to put you in a bikini :rotfl:

Right sorry for a short message, need to pack my kit, playing rugby later.

    Have a good day all

loopy-lou and suggs, at least you had an supermarket curry and not one from the curry house. YOu've actually saved syns, really . . . . .

gosh Jojil and Consultant we are close by - I live in Kippax which is about 3 miles from Xscape. Glad you enjoyed that pasta dish too! My gym is the one in xscape but I keep well back from the windows so you won't ever see me. I need someone to tell me what a good girl i am - i just got back from Mcarthur glen and i walked past thorntons, charbonnel and walker, cadburys, even Julian graves where they had 600g of salted cashew nuts for 3.99! I'm feeling so virtuous that i'm off to attack the cold new potatoes i cooked last night. Got my mum's mothers day present in the le creuset shop - the most gorgeous little salt and pepper shakers shaped like little jugs in the orange. I was going to get her some kippers sent in the post but this will be less whiffy and the dog won't chew it before she gets it. Welcome to Mike, I can't believe you might be allergic to chocolate! When you are better you might want to test yourself on different types - ie, really dark organic chocolate might not set you off and it's technically good for you in small quantities.

Good start to the day with the weetabix and brew. Now tucking into a apple now as the hunger pang (feeling peckish).

But that may be nerves now as I've had a bump in the car - not my fault as the poor pooch came out of no where (behind a parked car) and I went over him - felt the car go up, me and brother(20) looked at each other and said !!!!!! was that!

    :cry::cry::cry:

Was shaking, (my new car - sod it, dog is more important!) - poor dog, it was howling like mad. We both got out calmed it down, I called the owner thank god its got the tag on. By the look of things when the dog calmed down that one leg is broken (limp) the other a big graze on the joint. I feel so bad - but wasn't my fault. Dog owner not impress as he said the dog got out of the house and they have been looking for it. I told him you must take him to the vet asap.. wether he has done I don't know.

Went to the police station to report it as I am not having any come back to me as its not my fault

Anyways - I got my younger (8) and sister (4) to babysit this evening, so tea for them (thinks..) and me will look for something good and easy. .

I also went on the scales this morning before brekkie as the scale said I lost 2lbs already (only 1 day!) - Heck I drinking alot of water, so not water loss....

Will be back later with another update

Hi Mike, sounds scary about the dog! poor thing. hope the owner takes care of it, and your car is ok.
Sorry to hear about your allergy, but it's good that u have a positive attitude with the food diary and such. I hope you find this board as helpful and motivating as i do.

I am a bad girl and just ate 5 custard creams. WHY do i buy these things when i know i shouldn't eat them?!?!

Off to do some sit ups!

    have a good weekend everyone!
