Feeling fed up today, H insisted we went clothes shopping as a reward for loosing a stone and a half, didn't want to but went.... I can't believe I have not dropped a size.... nearly in tears in the shop when a 16 was tight and was not fitting....been an 18 on a stone and half more so imagined (especially as SW says 10 lb is a drop in dress size) that now a size 16 would be comfy but no:eek:
Yeah - try not to feel down about that, did you shop in the place you usually go to? A lot of the shops I go to I am different sizes in, in my size I can fit in Next jeans, but not their trousers, and forget New Look Jeans, I can get into two sizes above what I am!Loan (orig. £6014.20), now [STRIKE] £5,813.74 [/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£5,063.58[/STRIKE], £5,438.66 debt free Oct 2009

Hi all and welcome to Mike (xlt hunter).
Victory one of my members has only lost 2½lbs and has dropped a jeans size - she is really miffed that it's not showing on the scales  . The thing is, everyones body is different, and they all lose weight from different places. It's still weight loss and, eventually it will come off your waist (or wherever it is you're storing it at the mo). You're doing so well, please don't put extra stress on yourself, it may make you so dissatisfied that you give up all together.
BTW, thanks for the BOGOF list - very useful!
Katmad (and Kerry), pineapple makes my mouth sore too - so much so that I rarely eat it and I love it. I think the secret is not to eat too much at once (I have a tendancy to eat the whole thing once I start, lol).
Suggs, congrats on passing your exam - you clever thing
Lara I can only echo Katiep, avoid these "fad" diets, in the long run they cause more harm than good and it's just not necessary to mistreat your body in that way in order to lose weight. With SW you can eat jacket potatoes, piles of pasta, rice etc until you're full and still lose weight at a decent rate!
KatiePC, you are close by - my son-in-law comes from Kippax! I went to Freeport today and spent a small fortune on bits and bobs for my holiday. Got home and forgot I was supposed to be going to look at the Crocs at Xscape (old age and senility setting in, lol). So I'm going to have to go again next week - oh dear, what a shame :rotfl:
Right off to get my tea, then a night in front of the TV - CSI later, hurrah!!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
A quick Hi:hello:
Have been rather busy the last couple of days thus sparing you my inane mutterings, but all good things come to an end;)
Victory, I was sorry to read of your disappointment, I must admit that when I measured myself I couldn't believe that I was managing to squeeze into the size that I do, could it be that you have been wearing 'expandable' clothes and then tried fitted styles today? Although I must admit that to lose 1 1/2 stones and not to see any benefit is pretty soul destroying but you sound as if you have a sensible H and you are doing so well, don't let it get you down. You WILL get to wear white jeans because your hips WILL appear
Welcome to xlt hunter (Mike) You sound as if you have a lot of common sense (are you for real?). I'm interested in your comments about fresh pineapple and will give it a try this coming week; I'm trying to vary my diet as I tend to lapse into a routine after a while and stick to the same type of stuff week in week out, which isn't good for weight loss. By the way I was sorry to read about the dog, even though it wasn't your fault you will still feel bad.
Have got my camera ready to try and photograph the lunar eclipse later on, I've no idea if I can do it but hey! it's worth a try, but before that....
..... :j CSI :j
xxxxI wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latterbut my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

Thanks for the welcome girls & sluggs

hehe, I hope I am real. I did 2 years working in a crisp factory (big name one) and its a real eye opener to the cr*p that goes into it. (One to strike off the list - will not touch a bag of crisps again). Then I moved to another firm in the food industry for another 2 years where they sort out eggs to sell on the supermarket shelf - again I won't buy shop eggs now and have my own choocks in the back garden. Then went to another firm making fresh soups for Morrisons for 3 months before I left the food industry all together. All I can say you learn alot on how the body functions to current dietsBut I went into HGV driving and the weight "just" pill on :P
My only fault really lies in the fact I was doing QA work in these food firms (job involves eating the product) I got "big"
Well, brother and sis tucked up in bed, (brew in hand) and telly for the evening (and the net up). Had some toast this evening with Mexicana cheese on (with "strong" chillies in) wow - blow you mind away there
Added up the calories using the guides online and they say I used about 1400-1500 today. So a -1000 from my daily amount (as I am a guy the gov average is 2500 a day, for the women is 2000 - why i don't know), also did 40min walking today so an extra -250 off as well. I did find out that to burn 1lb in fat you need to burn 3500 calories. In plain english 1lb loss is 3500 calories less! or 500 per day for a 1lb loss a week. To get the 2lb "magic" safe figure a -1000 a day must be done. So I am looking of hitting the target of 1500 per day (eating wise) and any workouts is a bonus
Victory, I wouldn't know regarding how to keep a lass pleased - been too long without a lass (would like to start dating again, should be alot better when the weight starts to go and can get out more)
All I take it that you all go to SW or WW? as the lass whom Im working with at the moment is with WW. I am not with any club as the thought of paying £5 to stand on a scale is not for me. I like to see visual effects (hence the ad on free-cycle). We are each giving each other support but she is a temp and so am I until the project I am working on ends. She is struggling with WW at the moment as she is having too many naughtys and the weight is not going anywhere.. She is bringing in alot of fruit now (following my example) and Im pleased for her. I want to keep in touch with her when she leaves so have given her my number - but in fact I am interested in her daughter

Victory - dont worry about the clothes. As someone else said all shops sizes are different - you may find if you try something on in a differnet shop the Size 16 will be hanging on you. Have you been taking before and after measurements of yourelf ? I recommend you do this and update it monhtly/per stone loss and you will definately notice the changes. Stick with it, we are all behind you x
Mike - Hello  Sorry I missed mentioning you earlier. Welcome to the thread - lots of good advice, thank you. Some of us are doing SW and WW but most folk are like yourself, doing it alone. Try and stay off the scales though and only weigh yourself once a week, your weight fluctuates during the week and in some cases weighing yourself daily can be de-motivating.
Having an early nightCatch you all tomorrow Night Night

 there - yup I weighed myself on Fridays.... but i wasn't too sure about the weigh in yesterday so redid it.. shouldn't have now.
Still putting sugar in my tea- herbal tea is a no no as I can't stand them, same goes for coffee (makes me ill) - plain water can be boring... any ideas - I thought about slice of lemon in the bottle (anyone tried this with cold water?)

Hi Mike - welcome to the thread.
Have you tried swapping your sugar for sweeteners? They are quite palatable and zero calories, so they make a difference if you drink a lot of tea. Tea is actually quite good for you, although it does contain caffeine, so if that's a concern you could try decaffeinated. Why not add some sugar free fruit squash to your bottled water too.
Let me know if you want to join the 2 pound weight loss club. There's more information on thread #15, but briefly, I post a chart every Monday recording everyone's weight losses.

Thanks for that - I find sweeteners don't give the same "hit" as sugar in the taste dept, I also find them "chalky as well?... splender could be a option (remember to write it on shopping list) - Please add me on the list0 -

I just can't believe I have put all this effort into loosing half of the three stone I need to loose and still in the same size:eek:
I thought the weight loss would open up all the shops to me so I could be like a kid in a candy store but no..still heavy limited (in more ways than one:rotfl: :rotfl: )
Hi Victory - I hope you don't let this put you off, as you've been so motivated, and your success speaks for itself. As others have said, womens clothing sizes differ from one shop to another, so if you were to go somewhere else you may even find you can get into a 14 - they really do vary that much. I also have a theory that the 'larger lady' shops like Evans, Ann Harvey etc actually size their clothes bigger, so an Evans size 16 is bigger than a Next size 16 - or even a Dorothy Perkins size 16, and they're part of the same company!
Keep going, I'm sure you will start to feel that the effort is all worthwhile.
