The soup sounds lovely Katie - how do you make it

I base my soup on the recipe on here http://www.riverford.co.uk/recipes/recipe.php?recipeid=128&catid=2
    Hope that works...

I do it in the slow cooker and don't fry the onion first, just chop it and add to the parsnips, apple and stock and lots of pepper. When cooked I add the chopped parsley and milk (I use long life skimmed) and whizz up with my hand blender. I'm a bit free and easy with the quantities - I had two big bramleys today so it had more apple but whatever the quantities it's always yummy! I like it because it's filling and has a sweetness to it. I usually use a kg bag of Tesco value parsnips - got them half price too so a bargain!

  • Hey there Snake-hips :rotfl: hope you've got the techie problem sorted!

Oh I wish!!:rotfl: :rotfl: but I think that they will be in my dreams only. Managed to sort out one problem but there is still another pesky little thing that I know I should be able sort out but it's just beyond reach at present  ; I could do the easy thing and ask DD but I do not want hear the gentle sigh and see the pitying look and then watch her sort it out in a couple of seconds.....it's a matter of principle now and I will not be beaten.

I'm having a curry type dish tonight as well, very low cal but darn tasty, OH will have some naan bread to fill him up. Normally I watch CSI etc tonight but I'm an avid tennis fan and they're showing the Murray/Roddick match live at nine so I'll record CSI and watch it tomorrow.

Well done Honey for managing to avoid the Friday Bun Box, I hope you felt very smug because it's a great achievement and as for crying at books don't mention Watership Down, I didn't know I could get so attached to an imaginary rabbit, I wept for hours :o

I was glad to see that you got on well at the ENT Victory, don't worry I wouldn't have dared told my tale before you went; I hope that it soon clears up.

It's been a good day for me too, what a difference it makes to our attitudes to have a lovely spring-like day, it takes your mind off food.

    xxxxx
I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latter :p but my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

Hope the pain goes away soon Victory, did you find the HF Crackerbread?

Thank you, yes I did find the crackerbread but no likey:D I also bought Ryvita multi -grain-rye crispbread in the green packaging- 37 calories per slice- and I likey lots:D

I know the crackerbread will not be a hit because I gave it to my DS and they ate in silence:rotfl: :rotfl: can't keep them off the rice crackers and the wholemeal ones so no more crackerbread for us then:rotfl:

  • evening all went to weigh in on wednesday and i put on half a pound :( so im more determined now to lose this week i, i've found though i always hit this point and yoyo its like i cant get past it, we shall find out on wednesday if my yo yo theory is correct.

    :p MADE YOU LOOK :p
  • lol Honey, I cry at books too! Charlotte Grey really did for me. And OH says he is moving out when the next harry potter book comes out. I'm a speed reader and ended up staying up all night reading the last one. I woke him up at 0700 the following morning howling my heart out and he hadn't even opened the book at that stage. He was a bit cross about that. And Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials made me cry the first time i finished it too.

Having a fun weekend working on OHs kit fair and meeting some very exciting people. I'm surrounded by terribly glamorous goths in corsets and the like. One of them wanted to dress me up but i haven't really got the colouring. I'm blonde and tend to have a high complexion, so my natural colouring just fights against it. And it looks like so much work! And i'm having a s*d it weekend for the food too. If I'm on here whining tomorrow that I've gained weight someone kick me really really hard. I know the consequences and I'm big enough to make my choices. In my defence I'm still eating my five a day so I'm achieving that. I found a shop in Elsecar heritage centre yesterday that sells things with sheep on and nothing else. Teatowels, giftwrap, cards, toys, crockery you name it. IT was great! Well done to everyone else who is being more virtuous than i am this weekend!
  • katiepoppycat - seem to remember in an earlier post you saying that I could be you and I felt the same when I just read your post and you saying you are big enough to make your own choices. I could have easily written alot of your post , although I cry at just about anything vaguely moving, and I'm not sure about considering the corset :rotfl:

Isn't it awful when we know what we are doing, what the consequences are and how awful we'll feel later, and yet can't stop ourselves, even though sometimes our willpower is that strong that noone could even force feed us a biscuit...... and at other times so weak that I could eat practically a packet without noticing the taste?

I am up early to go to the gym before DD gets back, so hopefully am having a second motivated day. I will be looking out for your post tomorrow and remind you (if you have gained) that when you are back on track you will lose. We are rewarded (usually) by the effort we put in (says she virtuously who has eaten nothing but c***p all week and will probably have gained half a stone) :o

Well off to the gym now, and whilst I am pounding the treadmill/lifting the weights I will be repeating to myself '34 days til Oz, think of the beach'

  • had a good day yesterday (I feel) even though we went to a buffet party last night, I offered to drive so I drank one J20 - know its high in cals but it is at least fruit! then a sugar free squash - tasted nasty and so in the end had a pint of water and from the buffet ... 3 quarters of a sandwich and a bit of a chicken satay stick (didnt like it so left it - hooray - thats a start!) Left big crusts so I feel I didn't eat much bread - kids had crisps, prawn crackers and those yummy crinkly cheddars - got offered all these but point blankly refused 'cos I knew if I had one I'd want more!!

Being very virtuous - but aren't we all when we put our minds to it and start dieting - I think you all - who have been dieting for a little while - are brill and surely everyones allowed a rest once in a while - if you have a bad day make sure its just that (note to self - here!) and that it doesn't turn into a bad weekend/week and so on.

Victory, hope that ears getting better now and anyone else poorly - hope you feel better soon.

Have weighed myself (couldn't wait) and it is going - so it should! will let you know tomorrow if it still looks good. bye for now Bb xx

Well done bargain babe on the buffet:D I am not sure I could have held that restraint so do not attend any:rotfl: :rotfl:

No dinners out nothing so that I know I can stick to it:D

I am hoping to go out on Mothers day but that will have been 10 weeks on a healthy eating plan without once cheating with anything so I deserve it:rotfl:

  • Good afternoon everyone. I'm feeling rather embarrassed that I have not long been awake. It's the only time in my entire adulthood that I can remember sleeping until noon (other than if I've been ill). I have been sleeping really badly with having an awful cough, but I really made up for it last night and slept for over 12 hours. I ought to be wide eyed and bushy tailed, but I feel rather like a zombie at present - hopefully I'll come round soon, lol.

Ans I missed half a dozen auctions I was watching on eBay. I never bid till the closing seconds, so I missed out - serves me right :rotfl:

Going out to lunch shortly (carvery) so I'll be back later. Not looking forward to my weigh-in this week, my appetite's come back with a vengeance.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I did the same on Thursday - after a late night and too much alcohol :o I woke up at 7 and thought 'it's the holidays I'm not waking up yet' and went back to sleep until 11.30. I then felt dreadful all day, although not sure how much the wine the previous evening had to do with it

Sounds like you needed it for more medicinal purposes consultant.

Yumm carvery.... I've just had sardines on toast. Not quite as tasty. Going to eat later with my DD when she gets back. Been to the gym and then went into town and got soaked walking back as it poured down - I found out my jacket was waterproof but not my jeans or boots! Want something comforting to eat but came on here to try and take my mind off it. Not working yet!
