    Hi Honey, and also to Victory. Sorry to moan, is not often of late I have and I suppose thats the problem, I have had such a good run and the slightest hiccup has upset my balance, and of course, rightly or wrongly I let it get to me.

    Well I shot to the gym at lunchtime and did 15min each on the cycle and the cross trainer, making 550 calories burnt. My children turned up at 4ish went shopping and ending up buying a chinese takeaway, as I couldnt face cooking. I guess Come Monday I will be applying for membership of the Day One club :) I got alot of hassle this week which never helps matters does it!

    I hope to be playing some rugby come the afternoon, at least 30mins would be a good test, I go back to the consultant next week for a check-up.

  • You've seen those ads on TV promising amazing results from all sorts of contraptions. Well, there's no need to invest in fancy equipment. If you have (or can borrow) a dog, you have everything you need to get in shape now!!! The following exercises can be done anywhere, anytime.

    Inner Thighs: Place the dog's favourite toy between thighs. Press tighter than the dog can pull. Do not attempt bare legged - dogs who favour shortcuts to success will just dig the toy out. You could be damaged.

    Upper Body Strength: Lift the dog - off the couch, off the bed, out of the flowerbed. Repeat, repeat, repeat. As the dog ages, this exercise is reversed - onto the couch, onto the bed, into the car and so on.

    Balance and Coordination, Exercise 1: Practice not falling when your dog bounds across the full length of the room, sails through the air, and slams both front paws into the back of your knees.

    Balance and Coordination, Exercise 2: (for use with multiple dogs) Remove all dogs from lap and answer the phone before it stops ringing.

    Balance and Coordination, Exercise 3: (alternate) For older dogs, attempt to cross a room without tripping over the dog. Get off your couch without crushing any part of a sleeping elderly dog.

    Upper Arms: Throw the ball. Throw the squeaky toy. Throw the Frisbee. Repeat until nauseous.

    Upper Arms: (alternate) Tug the rope. Tug the pull toy. Tug the sock. Repeat until your shoulder is dislocated or the dog gives up (we all know which comes first).

    Hand Coordination: Remove foreign object from dog's locked jaw. This exercise is especially popular with puppy owners. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Remember, this is a timed exercise. Movements must be quick and precise (think concert pianist) to prevent trips to the vet, which only offer the minimal exercise benefit of jaw firming clenches.

    Calves: After the dog has worn out the rest of your body, hang a circular toy on your ankle and let the dog tug while you tug back. WARNING: This is feasible only for those with strong bones and small dogs. Have you taken your calcium supplement today?

    Calves: (alternate) Run after dog - pick any reason, there are plenty. Dogs of any size can be used for this exercise. Greyhounds are inadvisable.

    Neck Muscles: Attempt to outmanoeuvre the canine tongue headed for your ear, mouth, or eyeball. This is a lifelong fitness program. A dog is never too old or too feeble to "French Kiss" you when you least expect it.
    RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

    I have been on Day One all this week. I just wanted cheese - so I ate my fill (a lot) and will be back on healthy eating tomorrow. :D

    SUGGS..... you know you have done so well, think of that and how fantastically well you continue to do at the gym (putting us all to shame!) and look forward ...not backwards...it will all come good in the end.

    Missmoneypenny.... I haven't got a dog but I have taken to walking everywhere, never catch the bus anymore or go by car if I can walk it and it sure helps the weight loss!

    Competition... I read before where she was not allowed to be called a doctor and that anyone could qualify for her job!! I watch avidly her programmes but at the end of the day it is what my H says...you just can't live life like that eating quinoa and drinking cucumber and celery juice!!!!!

    Suggs, do not get weighed mid-week, ever! This is why I always say it's such a diet killer. It makes you feel down and you know (we all know) how well you've done and will continue to do. Please don't obsess about it, it will make you unhappy and will then reflect on everyone around you. You're amazing, we're all proud of you as I'm sure your family are. You'll get there, but remember the story of the tortoise and the hare!!!!!!!!!

    MissMP, love the dog exercise regime and it's all so true. I don't have a house dog any more (though we have several guard dogs outside) since my lovely little mongrel had to be put to sleep a couple of years ago. She was the perfect companion, an ex rescue mutt with a heart as big as a bucket. I could never replace her and can't face the pain of losing another. The outside ones are lovely, but they're there to do a job and my husband doesn't like me to fuss them for fear of making them too docile.

    Gillian McKeith has made millions on the back of her false degree and can afford to laugh all the way to the bank. She seems to me to be a horrible woman who gets great pleasure from upsetting people and telling them they're rubbish. I've only ever watched her programme once, but I can't imagine anyone putting themselves up to appear with her. Does she have any children? What on earth would it be like to have her as a Mum?

    Goldrush you can (as MissMP says) find recipes linked to post number 1, but the biggest favour you can do yourself is to plan in advance what you're going to eat over the next week. In this way, you won't be caught short after a shift, starving and with nothing to hand. You can take a boxed lunch to work with maybe pasta salad (filling and easy) and fruit and yoghurt for after. It's harder when you do shifts, but can be done with committment and effort. Shopping for fresh fruit and veg is the biggest pain really, but worth it when your weight and general health respond and, of course, your baby will do well on a healthy diet too.
    I let my mind wander and it never came back!

    hello to all
    have been doing atkins for 12 months but now started slimming world. Can anyone tell me how many syns a packet of quaker seasons are(cheese,onion and chive). They are low fat so hopefully should be OK(fingers crossed).
