  • yay! glad you're back petrichor! And glad we're getting more dialogue going now. Suggs, you must be gutted about that gain but at least you reacted to it the right way - you wanted to do something about it and didn't give up. Thats a lot more constructive than the way I felt earlier this week. I was all set to have a truly awful week for syns thanks to work and valentine's day but the onset of the dreaded lurgi has meant that i haven't eaten half of what i was going to and I'm just about on track - so far this week I've had 71 syns and by my reckoning at 15 a day I'm just inside it. Now i just have get through the beginning of next week - going on a course in london for work that involves travelling down on sunday so thats at least 3 meals that I can't control . . . maybe I should pack a couple of swedes?

Marion I hope you enjoy the gym. I hate it but i love that smug feeling of virtuousness i have when i leave which makes it okay. Just make sure you have an apple or soemthing similar half an hour before you go in. It's also a good idea to try and time your meals so that you can eat within an hour or so of finishing your workout. Apparently exercise stimulates your system so you absorb less calories or soemthing like that anyway.
  • Hi all have been ill for over a week and weighed myself as well and I have put on 5lbs how i just dont know,

I would recommend the davina 30 minute workout Karren, its really quite good, I started it again this morning. need to get me motivated again.

Petrichor...glad you are back, we all know it is hard...keep going ...results are not far away...

SUGGS.... Leave the weigh in until Monday as usual and you shall see a huge loss...no gaining for you with the amount of gym you do:D

Be interested in the healthy pancakes... the sugar on them is what kills the 'healthy' word:rotfl:

Petrichorglad you came back, every one feels like giving in sometimes but I don't think people on here will let you!

retiredlady well done on joining the gym. It sounds a lot nicer than the one I use. No-one will expect you to do more than you are capable. I have back problems and sciatica and what I can do looks like nothing compared to most other people.:o I used to worry what others would think but now I don't care cos my back feels stronger and it means I don't have to go have big needles stuck in it as often as I used to...

loisplease put my first weight loss as 2lb. I was hoping for more but found out that the youghurt I was eating (by the bucket), thinking it was free was 3.5 sysn each.

Should still be on target for the 5lb loss hopefully tho:D

Was gonna be really really good today but went to costco and hubbie queued for food, no jacket tatties so got me chicken bake, then bought one of their spicy pizza for tea:eek:

Will start counting syns again tom:D

  • One Syn Pancakes. (makes 2)

    1 Egg + 1 Egg White
    1 Tablespoon Canderel
    1 tablespoon Cornflour (2½Syns)
    2 Heaped Tablespoons V.L.F. Yoghurt

    Mix all ingredients together.
Measure out half for each pancake.
Cook in a non-stick pan sprayed with Frylight over a very low heat

Hope these help somebody out. Don't forget to add syns for any juice or sugar you sprinkle over.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

    Hi Everyone

    Like the rest of you I'm awaiting retiredlady's post re the Gym - what an incentive to those of us that would like to join but daren't, hmm you never know;

Evening everyone and welcome back Petrichor! Well I went off for my induction after much deliberation on what to wear (settled for loose trousers and t-shirt)! They showed us all the equipment and I had a go on most of them! Did 10 minutes on the walking machine (not inclined) and did 1/3 kilometers:T That is really good for me!:j Then I went for a session on the cross trainer (I think that's what its called) It sort of like running on skis? It felt weird at first but I quite liked it! I did 5 minutes on that and covered another 1/3 kilometers! Then did some big machines (I really do need to learn their names  !) for the upper arms and back.
    Then had a shower and a jacuzzi!:p
All in all we were there for 3 hours! Loved it, loved it, loved it:T :T ! I did not feel embarrassed once and I imagine I must have looked pretty weird!

Heres a funny for you - my husband is registered blind with very limited vision. When he came off the rowing maching he said to me - I was keeping a surrepticious eye on the guy on the next machine and I think I was doing better than he was - I had a look and there was no guy next to him - just a mirrored wall!! He had been watching himself!:D :D That had us in fits of giggles all afternoon! I am going back on Monday for my written out programme and my next session. I am really looking forward to it - if anyone is thinking of doing it - go for it!!

    All the best
    Marion

ps - I forgot to say - the walking on the machines and the cross trainer does not hurt your knees and ankles the way it does walking on pavements! This helps you go further - its called non impact apparently! (I am so new as this:o )
When life hands you lemons, ask for tequilla and salt and give me a call!!!
  • Oh well done RL I'm really pleased for you. Yes the non-impact exercises are so much better for your joints, you'll feel the benefits without having to breathe in all the fumes from the roads too.

Had a chuckle at your hubby, bless!!! It will have done him no end of good thinking he was in competition with someone else - pity you told him really :rotfl:
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

I hope you're feeling better, connie. And I am really glad to see petrichor back! Just take one step at a time, going slowly is far better than not going anywhere!

I've had a horrible, very stressing week and quite hard working at the office. I'm glad it's over - more of that on Monday though :(

So much so that, after of so many weeks without touching a piece of chocolate, I bought a galaxy bar yesterday. It could have been worse. I was looking for the caramel filled ones, but they'd run out of them.

At least I can say tonight the trainer has nearly killed me and I cannot move a muscle. I have practically crawled home from the gym.
Anything for a better health, hehehe
