ooooh, your room sounds fantastic, katiepoppycat!
No, I haven't tried that bar (for some reason chocolate smelling toiletries put me off, I always end up not buying them), but what I bought today was their newest fizz bomb. I love their bombs and bars, they're the only products I've found capable of making my back smooth in one single session.katiepoppycat wrote:

keatergreyhound A friend of mine had her diet monitored by a nutritionist - when she wasn't losing as much weight as she hoped she was advised not to eat so much fruit, and if she did fancy fruit, avoid eating it on an evening, and try and stick to 'English fruits' such as apples and pears. I can't remember the science behind it but was something to do with the fructose and a layer of fat! Have to say I love fruit, particularly on an evening when I have hunger pangs.
Thanks for the suggestions for nibbles everyone. I may try rice cakes again - used to really like them but stopped having them when trying to follow a low GI diet last year as they're not too good on that. Already eat carrot batons - the reason I had the swede was that I'd run out of carrots! Would like some variety though and love pickled onions so may try them - but not when I'm expecting company!Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
Hi, i'm new to this board (usually post on OS but have been lurking on here for the past few days) and would like to get involved in the 5lb by 05/03 weight loss challenge, and generally be involved in the group as u seem like such a friendly supportive bunch!
So a little about me, well i'm a student so healthy eating isnt easy as i have v little money for food and things but i do my best by buying all my veg and basics first so i have less money for 'treats', cutting down portion sizes, freezing leftovers, and so on. my OH is supportive and he doesnt mind when i do things like substituting beef mince for turkey in bolognaise etc, as i use lots of herbs and veg and he always enjoys my cooking luckily (and we both enjoy the savings - 450g of turkey mince is half the price of beef!!)
Basically i got lazy in my first years of Uni, ate and drank excessively and now am paying the price by having flabby bits where they r not wanted!!
Been on a few 'diets' before (not WW or SW, just ones i made up myself really, basic rules like more veg and less cake!) but always get the friday night craving for ben and jerrys and next thing i know i've given up and feel like cr*p again!!
Like ThrifyKatie said, i think that being able to log on here and discuss my progress and read about others' will really help me stay on track and feel like a part of something rather than all alone in my efforts (all i get at home is 'shut up and have another biscuit' from my friends and the typical useless boyfriend comment 'well i think you look fine' which is nice but not v helpful!!)
However i am a bit slow on the uptake so have a few qs about the 5lb challenge- do i have to pm loislane or will she see me on here and add me to the list?? and when is weekly weigh in?
Thanks all, hope to get to know you all better and get slimmer together!! (first time in my life i think i've actually wanted to be a 'loser' !!! hehe!!)
KatMad x
Ps- thanks for the article competitionscafe, fantastic read. had me laughing and cringing and feeling somewhat in dispair by the end. is there no end to her madness!?!? :rotfl:Moneysavinghopeful :rotfl:0 -
hiya Katmad, always nice to have more company. not sure about the 5lb thing because i don't do that but lois issues the weigh list usually on a monday night so we all mostly just time our weigh ins to hit that. You just post your progress and lois will pick it up and put it in cos she's ace like that.
didn't know too much fruit could be bad - they get us coming and going don't they?! Off to london now and have packed an enormous fruit packed lunch. I'm really pleased with myself, I've had my 5 a day every day for a whole week! So even if i don't lose any weight I know i've achieved somethng this week. Lois I can't weigh in this week so put me down for a maintain please. see you all soon0 -

Not as bad as my Friday chow mein, Chicken green pepper and black bean sauce
On a side note I played 40 odd mins of Rugby yesterday, 10mins in the 1st half as cover for a sin binning, and 30 in the 2nd as a sub. Knee was fine, though a little sore afterwards. A little stiff this morning though. :TProud Member of the Lose Weight Thread on I Wanna..................

thanks katiepoppycat for your reply.
I am having a lazy student day today, went for a long walk yesterday and played squash on friday and my muscles are not very forgiving, so everything hurts today!
Hope everyone is having a good dayMoneysavinghopeful :rotfl:0 -
Its not going to be a good weigh in this week but I've had a good week! Valentines day, chocs that DH bought me (why?) Chinese last night and out for dinner tonight cos its DH bday. On top of that I have made Nigella's malteser chocolate cake and will obviously have to sample it!
On a better note I have been finding out prices of gyms - problem is there are only 2 in the town which I live - one is the council one at the leisure centre, the other is Fitness first. FF is really run down and has been for a while - I was a member previously but left as I thought it was dirty/run down/broken machines - they know they have a captive market and people will go anyway so dont seem to do much about it - the leisure centre one has been done up I think - both are £32pm. There are other ones in the area - about 30mins away but I know that I will use that as an excuse not to go. There is also curves and a similar womens workout place. What are your views on these - is a "proper" gym better
Oh and thanks to retiredlady who has inspired me to find out about gyms and possibly join :T0 -
HI all:wave:
honey28 I would think your smaller gym's will be worth looking at as quite often they have to make sure they are better to compete with bigger ones... we have a great small one near me but it has no parking so I joined ff. Knew I would not go if had to park in local P&D and then lug bag to it whearas I cant use that excuse with ff.
Havin said that did talk myself out of goin yest, but also talked self out of big kitkat too:D
hi katmad I'm fairly new on here but have found it invaluable in havin finally decided to do something about weight.0
