Hi
Seems a bit quiet on here at the moment, I hope that you are all out enjoying yourselves.
Welcome to beccaoz I hope you enjoy being with us, you won't be allowed to fail as I can testify!!
Many thanks to those of you who have welcomed me back (you shouldn't have but I'm grateful), I've clicked the thanks buttons (DD will be checking!).
Samcc sorry to hear you haven't been well and then to gain 5lbs, the whole purpose of being ill is to lose weight without any effortI've been lucky in that even though both OH and DD had the flu-like thingy I've managed to escape it so far.
Retiredlady I was so pleased to read your post and doff my cap to you and your husband, it must be good for him to be able to get going well on a treadmill without the fear of bumping into things and your story made me laugh; you have really inspired me as OH suggested a while back that we should visit our local gym but I put him off, I think that it is easier when you have someone to go with. Let us all know how you progress.
I promptly shot myself in the foot this morning by having a crafty peep at the scales (yes I know I shouldn't have and serves me right too as it only shows a loss of 0.2 of a lb) so I'm trying to get maximum taste today and tomorrow for the minimum calories. For dinner I'm cooking a concoction similar to a bombay potato meets chicken jalfrezie, it smells really good and there's quite a pan full. I've worked out the calories and if it tastes as good as it smells I'll try and put the recipe on the list.
'Bye for now Happy Slimming
xxxxxxxxI wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latterbut my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

So nice to see you back Petrichor
I find that if I can log in and read the posts it really helps - I haven't been brilliant but I know that if I hadn't kept logging on I would have given up by now and would have gained weight. This way I have kept off what I lost at the beginning of January, plus lost a few extra pounds too. Slower than I would have liked but in view of the amount I have been eating more than I deserve!
When people thank me for a post or I get a mention it gives me a buzz as I know someone on here is interested in what I am doing and it reminds me we're all here for the same reason. I certainly had a fair few comments about my swede episode but considering the after effects I won't be repeating the 'treat'. Am trying to find an alternative - can anyone help?
Two things are keeping me going - the gym and all of you on here. A big thank you to you all :T (and I'll be back on day one tomorrow after the curly wurlys - yes plural - this afternoon!!!)Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -

Anything to be of help, thriftykatie
BTW, I am pleased with myself today so I awarded me a delicious... fizz bomb. Now both my bathroom and I smell like a lemon muffin. And without the calories.'They can tak' oour lives but they cannae tak' oour troousers!'The Nac Mac Feegle0 -

Carrot batons are a favourite with me and they don't seem to have the same unfortunate effect that the swede had on you. They are sweet and juicy, I chop up loads and keep them in the fridge for nibbling moments.
Madauri I like the idea of smelling like a lemon muffin (with zero calories). Brilliant!!
I have got my appetite back with a vengeance today. Am I the only person who completely disregards the advice to allow 1 flap of egg noodles per person? I have 2 just for me and could in all honesty, eat 3. I know I'm a pig, but I can't believe 1 flap's supposed to be enough. I have thoroughly enjoyed my tea and am going to settle down with a huuuuge bag of grapes while I watch CSI later on.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I think I have been quite good this week and have given up the raisins, cheese and all other forbidden goodies! While cleaning the freezer found frozen naan bread dated October 2003:rotfl:
Has anybody else read " Stop Bingeing!" By Lee Janogly. Really sensible and down to earth. She recommends not leaving it longer than three hours to eat and points out all the known pitfalls to avoid about dieting!
Worth a read!0 -
hey everyone! I'm in a fantastic mood as I've been buying furniture!!!!!! yay!!!! a trip to ikea gets me really excited so imagine how chuffed I am to have been and collected my bee-yoot-iful hand made oak chest. It's sitting in the living room smelling delicious as we speak and I keep running downstairs to look at it. I've got lots of my authentic stuff in it and it's easier to carry than two pine boxes that i used to have in it's place. I can't wait till March when I get to take it out and put it in my tent and show it off. Thats the beauty of this re-enactment hobby, all your furniture ends up doing double duty - the spare room bed is a repro medieval campaign bed and all my vases are reproduction jugs! I know this is unlikely to be at all interesting to anyone on here but I was bursting to tell someone.
lemon muffin sounds good madauri - have you tried the ma bar from lush? It makes you smell all chocolately but weirdly it doesn't make you want to eat chocolate - you just sniff your hair all day.
thriftykatie I'm not sure what to recommend in palce of the swede - I'm doing SW so if I want to munch on a green day i go for baked beans and on red days wafer thin meats or smoked salmon if there's any in the reduced section. Otherwise pickled onions and gherkins do it for me but I am a bit weird that way. My mother will never let me forget that as a small child i broke into the kitchen cupboards and ate an entire jar of pickles, finishing off with drinking all the vinegar. It's no wonder I have an unhealthy relationship with food really. Branston pickled onions are fnatastic, really got a kick with them. Off to admire my chest again now. . . . . .0 -
just spotted consultants post and don't know how to edit - 1 flap of noodles is all those poor souls can have who aren't doing SW green days! I agree, its alwaysd 2 at least. And who ever eats half a tin of soup or beans either? keep seeing HEBs in SW magazine for 1/2 a tin of this soup or the other. What a waste. Bring on the whole tin I say. Fortunately there's enough choice that I can!0
