How do you guys stop snacking between meals? This is the thing that kills me every day! I eat quite healthy meals but I snack so much in between. I think one reason is because I'm bored...

Oh dear, Day one club tomorrow. I was doing so well too....came in from hairdressers and was soooo hungry I started to nibble, and nibble, and nibble. Now so stuffed on nibbling that I dont want a proper tea. Feel sick and cross with myself. Tried to do a red day but I was really hungry all afternoon. I need to think again about lunches I can have at work on a red day. So Slowlyfading as you can see I am not one to ask about stopping snacking between meals :rotfl: My advice (and I need to listen too) is to be prepared for the grazing and have bowls of salad/chopped raw veg, fruit salad ready so you can just reach for that.0

Also slowlyfading try drinking a glass of water every time you feel like reaching for the munchies - can be quite filling! Alternately if you're bored, when you feel like snacking, get up and do something! Clean a cupboard, take a walk, or if you're at work, head down for half an hour... I wonder if you do horrible jobs it'll trick the body into assimilating hunger with hard work = you stop feeling hungry?!If you don't have anything nice (or constructive) to say... DON'T SAY IT!0

Thanks for that, I'll try drinking water all the timeI'm just fed up at the moment!

Evening All! I am feeling very excited at the moment and also very nervous. My husband and I went down to our local leisure centre today and have signed up for a years gym membership!
I am the type of person who doesn't like to waste money so I will go regularly to ensure I get my moneys worth;)
It did look really good, loads of machines, wall to ceiling movie screen, saunas, swimming pool, jacuzzi, and plenty of staff. It was also nice and clean. They gave us a guided tour and tomorrow we go back for an induction and assessment before they give up our programme.
My fears are that I know I am so unfit - I am out of breath and my legs are shaking after a walk around the block!! Do you think they will take the p*ss when they see how little I can do? I do have a lot to lose so I know I will lose quicker with more excercise (I hope:D ), plus of course good old SW!
I would love some reassurance from you guys, and any helpful suggestions as I am a total novice at the excercise lark. I think I am a naturally lazy person! Mind you with an extra 15 stone to carry around it is hard work to do anything really!:o
All the best

Well Done Marion for going out and joining the gym :T You don't need reassurance from us but we know you can do it! All sorts of people go to gyms, all with varying levels of fitness, all different shapes and sizes, some recovering from heart attacks etc - any good fitness instructor will be able to devise a plan that is unique for you and what you need from it - eg you may want to tighten up your stomach muscles while your OH may want bigger biceps! They are trained to assess people of varying fitness and help each and every one of them. Good for you, I need to get out and do the same thing.
Enjoy your induction tomorrow - its good that you will have OH to go with you too, so well done him as well :T0 -
Yay Marion, excellent!! Please don't worry, they know exactly what they're doing and will push you gently in the right direction.
I used to go regularly and always felt the benefit, though I have fallen by the wayside over the years with having the FIL to look after. I'm sure that exercise actually gives you energy - you'll be fine. Do let us know how it goes tomorrow.

Well peoples, I'm off to my bed - early I know, but I still feel rather weak and wan and seem to get absolutely jiggered at the least bit of effort. Have eaten rather more today (sadly), so must be on the mend.
See you all tomorrow :wave:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Hey!! I am still in Australia, wont be back for a while yet (still got 6 months on my visa, but want to see NZ and a few other places too.....) - I hope they were saying good things about me over there
Sounds like we have the same amount of weight to lose, its tough isnt it. I found repaying my debt SOOOOOOO much easier, and in a way its about applying the same principles, but I am determined to do it this time!!
Retiredlady - Well done on joining the gym, dont worry about it though, there will be people of all ages & fitness levels there, just remember you are doing your body & mind good by being there, dont worry about what anyone else thinks. And dont run before you can walk (literally!), take it easy, and start with gentle walking, something is better than nothing and you dont want to scare yourself off before youve even started. I am 26 and my fitness levels are probably pretty poor considering my age, but I have gotten better since going to the gym and push myself to beat my last target. I've only just managed to run for 15 minutes in a row and look like a beetroot when I'm done. Oh well. It is worth it though!! And good for the mind too!!
Let us know how you get on!!
