ooohh 6 hrs sleep you go girl . i know its not recommended to let them go longer but its up to you how you want to do it, if she is getting herself into a routine then go with the flow, plenty of people refuse to wake their baby up at a night time sleep. as long as they are feeding regulary during the day.
well done for doing so well with the breast feeding, i always found the first 5/6 weeks the hardest
what pump did you go with manuel or electric? in case anyone else is looking for one im selling a http://www.nctshop.co.uk/Ameda-Lactaline-Personal-Dual-Electric-Breastpump/productinfo/2006/now proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
At 3.30am I was awake so sleep feeding her made me feel better
She only wakes twice a night normally for a quick feed, I am very lucky.
She seems to have taken to BF really well, with DS it wasn't easy, and due to a health issue I lost my milk at 3 weeks (I dislocated my knee and the stress dried me up, but my knees were fixed a few years ago, so no need to worry now). But after being 'forced' to give up breast feeding (I cried for a week) this time I wanted to 'choose' and planned to stop after week 6. But I have decided to just see how things go...
So I ended up going for a Avent Manual Pump, I just cannot afford an electric one, and it had great reviews, and it was half price at £13.99
I used the money I set aside to pay for formula in January (just in case I couldn't feed)!! How MSEWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. Mine have all been going from 10 or 11 to 5 or 6 by 3 months and I've never been told to wake them! I mentioned to hv that Isla went 7 hours the other night and all she said was ooh lucky you, get the sleep while it's going?
Imo as long as they are gaining weight and making lots of wet/dirty nappies and seem happy enough then let them sleep.
We put Lo in the shower yesterday with daddy, second time we've showered her, we find it much easier than bathing, especially as she has a full head of hair and it was still all yucky and in need of a good wash.
I hope everyone feels ok this morning, it's chucking it down here today, forecast says it's in for the dayMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Morning. Not a great night, LO now sleeping peacefully and has been for about 3 hours, but she was waking every hour wanting a top up so I was getting about 40 minutes sleep before she started squawking again. DH kindly took her downstairs this morning to give me a couple of hours more - dunno why she would sleep for him and not me!!
The advice on timings for feeds is confusing. I've left her more than the recommended 5 hours a couple of times (not often she has gone that long) but start worrying even though all logic tells me if she was hungry she would wake up and tell me about it! You get told that and on the other hand that you should never wake a sleeping baby. I think part of it is getting to know your own baby, but she isn't into a rhythm yet.
Waiting on midwife, who could be here at any point today, and DH has gone out for most of the morning so I'm all alone. Actually quite nice after the mass visits last week from friends and family. We tried so hard to space them out and then people kept changing times and dates for various reasons and we ended up inundated. Our next door neighbour is a bouncer and we were thinking of getting her on the door at one point:rotfl::heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

I find my LO will sleep better with Daddy then with me. She knows it's me... and therefore wants milk and comfort... they know Daddy does't have the 'good stuff' so they are more likely to settleWe spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like. Morning
Does anyone know when babies generally have growth spurts? My little one is just over 4 weeks old and seems to be having one at the moment-he seemed to want to feed and feed and feed yesterday and was unsettled still seeming hungry inbetween. I am seeing how he gets on today-and may have to up his milk an oz if he keeps this up! He has definetly grown a lot-his sleep suits are no longer swamping him and i can feel the weight when i hold him. I'm taking him to be weighed later on in the week-so we'll see how much he's put on
He has a cold and cough still-which is frustrating as he cant lie flat on his back still because of the phlemy stuff that he keeps coughing up. He threw up this morning-and brought some phlem up though which is better out then in.

I just can't get my chunky monkey to go longer than 3 or 4 hours at a push between feeds. Short of leaving him to scream for a bit to stretch the time between feeds I don't know what to do. He is taking 6ozs formula and is 6 weeks today (where has the time gone) but is also a big baby. Nearly 13lbs and almost outgrown his 0 - 3 clothes and size 2 nappys are getting neat on h I'm to give an idea of size!
Any suggestions as giving him a dummy to suck doesn't work when he's hungry0 -
I would have thought 3 hours was pretty normal at that age to go between feeds ,sounds like he is a hungry boy.
Keelykat - according to Kellymom (great site if you are bfing) the growth spurts are around 7-10 days ,2-3 weeks,4-6 weeks, 3months ,4 months, 6 months and 9 months so you could definately be going through one. Also explains why my 9 month old has suddenly started eating lots of food!
I would leave them at night if they are asleep for feeds as long as they are gaining weight, have plenty of wet nappies etc.0 -

HV told me to give Katie cooled boiled water between feeds as she may be thirsty, but she was only going 2 hours between feeds. I think 3 to 4 hours is a good space between feeds as I wouldn't go that long without eating or drinking :rotfl:
Well in order for me to get some sleep Katie is now in her own room with OH sleeping on an airbed on her floor. I have got to say it is bliss, although I do miss OH. Katie is still coughing and sounds really phlegmy despite the antibiotics, so we are back at the GPs tomorrow. Katie has been that often that they are going to be thinking I have Munchausen's!
I feel like the medication is really starting to help with the PND now, it's like I am back on an even keel instead of a rollercoaster of emotions
I'm just wondering what other people do about having a shower when home alone with a baby? Usually I have one before OH goes to work, but didn't have time this morn. No sooner was I in the shower and Katie started crying, despite being quite happy to lie on the bed while I pottered about in the bedroom for half an hour and built up the courage to go in and leave her.0 -
Wonder Womble I leave Ben if he is awake, fed and burped to have my shower, I figure it won't hurt him to cry for a few mins I need to get ready if he starts whilst I'm in the shower. I try though to have my shower when he is asleep so this morning that was 7.45ish after he had had a bottle.0
