Just read back over the last couple of days as I haven't been on since LO was first home. 9 days in sometimes I think I am getting to grips with it and other times like I have no clue at all!!
Helpful to hear about belly buttons and cords as I was worrying about that too. It doesn't look too bad but I can't wait for it all to heal up. Last visit from the midwife tomorrow so I will get her to check it. Not heard anything from HV as yet.
We've done our first trips out of the house now - took 2 hours to organise baby being changed and fed on top of me and DH getting ourselves washed and dressed. Hopefully we will get a bit better at it given practice!
I'm also realising we've been very lucky with the bf, not only baby and me getting the hang of it (her faster than me!) but also with the support from the midwives while we were in hospital advising on positioning. 3 day weigh in she had only lost 5% and I'd be very surprised if that was not back on already. The only problem is that she seems to feed far more in the evening/at night than during the day and I'd prefer it the other way around for obvious reasons.
Does anyone know how long it takes for stitches to dissolve? Not sure if they have gone or not, don't want to poke around for obvious reasons! It seems that having a wee is not so sore now so I'm presuming things are knitting back together. If it makes a difference, I had a 3rd degree tear repaired surgically. Not the best end to the delivery, but as everything else went very much to my best case plan, I can't complain too much.:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

hello all
Just wanted to let the ladies who have a baby affected by reflux of my experience in case it may be of help to them. My daughter who has suffered from severe reflux from birth was finally seen last week by a consultant aged 7 months. It turns out that she is dairy intolerant as is her brother. So if your babies reflux seems worse than how reflux is normally described then please insist on them being referred to a consultant as they too could be suffering the same problem as my children.I dont think I fought hard enough for referrals to be made and now feel incredibly guilty

abella how did you find out about a breast feeding support lady?
Yesterday we kept having 10min feeds, every 2/3 hours, then had a 20min feed at 10. Colic started again at 8ish, managed to settle her at 11.
Give bournemouth maternity unit a ring... Just say you're local and in need of bf support and ask if they've got any useful numbers for you xMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

My LO is definitely going through a growth spurt, he has been feeding every 1-2 hours, and sucking on the bottle with desperation and getting really grumpy in between feeds, I assume this is a growth spurt anyway, he is 7 weeks old today. My darling boy born December 20110

Thank you for the advice and shared experiences re bf. thankfully Scott put on weight overnight, he's now 9% down. We have to continue feeding plan and we have had some breastfeeding support and plan to go back tomorrow for reweigh etc. back to baby madness trying to feed a sleepy Scott. Ro x
Kira it is weird how we have had sililar probs. 4nnabella glad you have had support too0 -
Ro hon. So pleased LO has gained overnight. Finger xd it was a milk timing blip like mine. Forgot to say, in case it helps you or anyone with expressing or bf. When i had to express in through hospital, i discovered that my feeling round my boob for harder areaand massaging them, i released more milk, even when the pump seemed to have drained it ell. Now i am home, doing the same massage while feeding seems to help get the flow faster which helps cj suck better when she gets sleepy.
Wishing everyone sleepy dust for tonight.

Just woke again with a start... Eliza went 6 hours without a feed, I know I should be grateful, but it sure scares the life out of me. I am feeding her now... but she's asleep, I read that they shouldn't be allowed to go more then 5 hours when they are under 3 months old.
Her feeds were slightly closer together before bed, and as we'd been to my sisters, Eliza did get in a tizzy from over stimulation again (she has 3 boys under 4) but she only upset herself for half an hour. We have a calm day today, so we'll see if she does it again tonight.
Last night I ordered a breast pump and a breast feeding scarf/sling. I always planned on stopping at 6 weeks due to health problems I experienced with DS. But I have decided to stick with it longer (hence the pump and sling). We spend money we don't have, on things that we don't need, to impress people we don't like.
