aimless, lidl nappies are good i have used a few and my brother uses them for my nephew. im still chopping and changing between huggies and pampers purely because i got so many bargains when i was pregnant, although im not keen on the pampers. but when i have ran out i will be changing to lidls ones.

kira, so glad littlen is getting better and putting on weight. x

Aimless - We started our LO on our reuseables when she was around 7lb. Its reccomended that they are 8lb. We haven't had an dramas, the only leak we had was when DH put one on in the middle of the night - lack of concentration! We had disposables on standby, just in case she was too small or I couldnt cope with the washing and drying. It was much easier than i expected :)

Kira - Im glad things are going well. It sounds like she will have gained.

Had our LO weighed this morning, she has put on 2oz since last week, not a lot but a gain is a gain :)

Lauralou - I was the same the other night when DD went 5 hours. Now i wake her between 10/11 for a feed and she wakes at 3ish. I figure as long as she is feeding well during the day and is having plenty of wet and dirty nappies then its ok. Also grab the sleep while you can!

Still struggling with a good BF position. Ive got pains in my wrists as i use the cross cradle position and she is getting too heavy for me. Im trying to do the cradle position, hastnt been going to well but last feed was better. Got her latched on and she had 10 mins :T

Think it must be a growth spurt, thought the colic was kicking early as she was bringing up her knee and crying, like she does when she has colic.

Had a 5 min feed at 3.45 then another 5mins at 4.15 offered second boob and had 10mins, have just put her back in the moses baskets, seems to be drifting off to sleep.

In the day when you use the moses basket in the loungue do you also use the stand?

Can anyone recommen a good breastfeeding cover?to use in public?!

Got discharged from midwives today (no word from HV yet but been told they will be in touch). My stitches are fine, baby looks good and she is 100g up on birth weight which is excellent. Her grouchy night of regular feeds was put down to a growth spurt, so perhaps that is the default explanation for when they change feeding patterns!

Emily - are you using a feeding or v pillow to support the baby? I've found the crescent shaped one I have invaluable as it sits round my waist and I only have to hold her head cupped in one hand when she is feeding to help her be in position, not supporting any weight.

Lauralou - I've been told to use muslins or scarves, but I've got a waterfall cardigan which is great - I can cover her and me easily with that and still see what is going on. I've not fed out and about yet but have done it comfortably at home when we have people over. I've found some people I can happily feed in front of without it but especially with DH's family I'm not comfortable with them seeing any boob!

  • Hello everyone! What a lovely thread for mummies to chat! May I join?
    I have 2 DDs, DD1 is 18 months and DD2 is 3 weeks.
I'm bfeeding DD2 - going ok, much better than DD1 where is was on the verge of giving up at 4 weeks! Just hope it's a smooth journey this time round too!

I just have a question for u mummies out there, can anyone recommend a lightweight stroller suitable from birth? My travel system is way too big for the car now. Thank you much in advance!

lauralou i always used to chuck the muslin over us. mine are from tesco and are quite large. to be honest no one really looks at you anyway, ive had several conversations where people have walked past and asked how old etc and started having a discusion until eventually they have realised im breastfeeding and then leave me in peace.

its just something you get used to, in the couple of months i was breastfeeding samuel he has had lunch, in the car, in tesco clothing department, in sainsburys cafe, in the school playground, in a pub when i went out for lunch with the girls. in mothercare feeding room which was so lovely and comfy, in mamas and paps feeding room which was quite nice.

So I ended up going for a Avent Manual Pump, I just cannot afford an electric one, and it had great reviews, and it was half price at £13.99 :D

I used the money I set aside to pay for formula in January (just in case I couldn't feed)!! How MSE :D

oh i could of sent you samuels one ive just given it away on freecycle, only used it for a couple of times and then sister in law gave me her electric one to use, hence the reason ive still got a brand new double breast pump for sale.

hope you get on well with it. x

  • Emily have you got an arm chair? I was always uncomfortable on the sofa and ended up buying a nursing chair second hand, which was amazingly comfortable. Also, I tended to favour the rugby ball position, with a cushion under my arm, esp if nips were sore as it changed the pressure point.
I found lidl nappies great last time around and nature baby care, but agree the are increasingly hard to find. Am using tesco own brand at night and they are very good too.
Welcome thriftymummy, cant recommend a light pram, sorry. I use a travel system and will change to a stroller at 6-8 months.
