Yay, breast feeding support lady is coming round to the house this afternoon to see if there's any advice/help she can give. My milk appears to be coming in though, at least I'm guessing that's what's causing all the irrational, unexplainable crying on my part... :rotfl:

Thats the fun part lol I still cry at soppy films now - being a mum does seem to make me alot more sentimental.

Does anyone here do real nappies?

I'm thinking of buying either some wool or fleece soakers for when LO goes up to size 2 wraps and wondered if anyone here has used them and if they are any good? The plastic ones have been fine but they can rub her legs sometimes so I was wondering if a cloth wrap would help.

  • I use real nappies ttstss, mainly tots bots easy fit and tots bots bamboozle size 2. Also used bambino mio. Have only used the plastic wraps tho, and had very little bother. Sometimes there was a bit or redness, but not much :-)

4nnabella how did you find out about a breast feeding support lady?

Yesterday we kept having 10min feeds, every 2/3 hours, then had a 20min feed at 10. Colic started again at 8ish, managed to settle her at 11.

Sorry to hear about those struggling with the bfing.I agree to feed them at least every 2 hours if you are worried they aren't getting enough and feed them more often if they want it. It is hard work but it is only while they are so little. I felt to start with like she wasn't getting enough because she fed so often but she has grown at a perfect rate so am obviously doing something right.

Been to baby and toddlers this morning and Poppy managed to escape into the toddler bit and start pushing along a ride on toy. She seems to love other children so hoping she will get on well when she starts nursery.

Hope everyone had a better night last night. Ro sweetie, how did you get on? 4nnabella, looks like the three of us have all been having similar experiences. Just shows, its a very common thing. Thats why i love this forum. Not only is the advice and tips really useful, but it really shows that other people have been there and come through the same things so no need to beat oneself up too much.

Apols for the typos in my night time posts. It is what happens when i try typing one handed on a smart phone, cradling LO, in the dark! Darn predictive text does very odd things on this phone too!
Mixed night last night. The feeding itself went fine, no probs there. She even had a few marathon 40 min sessions and some back to backs, mixed in with the ones where i had to constantly nudge her to feed. Sleeping, nowhere near as good as the previous night. But i am being positive here. It wasnt like the two nights of unstoppable crying, so i dont feel as emotionally wrung out, just tired. She just wouldnt settle and sleep between the feeds 9pm-3am, it seemed she wanted to poo and couldnt quite get it out, and grizzled herself awake everytime her eyes closed, so i didnt get any kip till she eventually went down after her 3am, but managed to sleep between the next 3 feeds. We did have projectile pooing last night as well, which was amusing....

Little steps though, so will take what i get!

It was through my community midwife, there's a medical centre here which is a Sure Start centre so she's based there. She came out to my house a couple of weeks ago to talk about breast feeding, and told me about local drop-in sessions for 1-2-1 support and stuff. There seems to be quite a lot available around here, which is great! She came round at 12, watched me feed Amelia and said that everything actually looks ok. When I get her latched on properly, she's feeding well. I just need to make sure, if she comes off after ten mins or so but still seems to want more, that I put her back on the same side rather than offer the other side first, which I wasn't always doing.

Well after the past 2 nights of uncontrollable crying and general unsettledness i have booked to see a craniosarcal therapist just waiting for her to confirm the appointment!
Also think i might have found a nursery, honestly didnt think it would be so hard! The one i had my heart set on has no spaces until october but i need a place from june and everyother place i rang had other issues like a minimum 2 days a week, and i only want 1, i even thought of a childminder but the one i called doesnt do school holidays!!
    Hope everyone is ok?

I had the same issue as my milk came in... Eliza was dropping off after the foremilk and i would give her the other side next time. Her feeds got closer and closer and Eliza was unhappy. My sister (who is training to be a sure start support for breast feeding, and has 3 children) told me the same thing... and after 24 hours i noticed a huge difference. I now put her in her crib when she comes off and if she hasnt had enough it wakes her up and she gies right back on. We end up doing 2 x 20 minutes each feed on one breast now. She sleeps 2.5 hours between feeds (unless she wants to play).

I hope it works for you as well as it did for me x

Why when you are able to grab an hour nap you can't sleep?!!

Have booked to see a chiropractor to see if it helps with the colic.
DD been alseep most of the day so may worried she will not sleep later? At 3weeks does her sleeping in the day affect nighttime?
