    Evening ladies.

Boo to the end of mat leave sunshine. But glad he's settling into nursery so well.

Good luck with the reduced feeds Nutella. Pretty sure I'm in for a bad one again tonight - last night he had 4 feeds and I was up twice on top of that to put his dummy in. Think its a combo of tooth, travel cot and traffic noise as our room at mums overlooks the street.

Had a lovely day today - showed him off to mums chemo nurses at hospital then went into York for some shopping. Got this http://www.marksandspencer.com/Marks-and-Spencer-First-Xylophone/dp/B0037GQ4WW?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_2&nodeId=42966030&sr=1-2&qid=1353096270&pf_rd_r=129BAMFY42BNBMZ2CG9N&pf_rd_m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&pf_rd_t=301&pf_rd_i=0&pf_rd_p=321381407&pf_rd_s=center-3 for my gran to give him for crimbo, this for his crimbo day outfit http://www.boots.com/en/Mini-Newborn-Boy-Christmas-Three-Piece-Gift-Set_1269120/, some cute little shoes and a jumper with a sequin owl on for me. Absobloominglutely shattered now!

Glad you have had a nice day katie. Hope its worn out George and he sleeps well for you.

That toy looks fab,.and what a bargain! And I love the outfit....super cute. Sequin owl sounds great!

    Morning ladies

Nutella - hope your plan worked and little one slept well.

DP has booked a table at a restaraunt tonight and arranged for his dad and step mum to come over and look after the kids. It's the first time I have left Noah so I'm getting worried now, I don't want to go! I know we will only be gone a couple of hours but I will miss him!

Awww, that's nice of your DP. I'm sure you'll have a lovely time - it'll be nice for the two of you to have some time together. You'll be back with Noah before you know it :) What kind of food are you having?

Our night was pretty average thanks - I reduced her milk to 150ml x 2 (down from her usual 180ml x 2) and had no complaints, and she didn't wake up any earlier. Think I'll try 120ml tonight and see how that goes. I don't want to reduce it too much (or go cold turkey) as long as she's got diarrhoea, as I'm sure her tummy must be emptier than usual + we have to make sure she stays hydrated.

Oh don't even ask about weight Nutella, still at 1st 10lb off, I've lost more and put more on, with friends visiting, going home to family etc. At least I'm still back on an even keel. What did you make :D

Pretty terrible night to be honest :( lost count of how many times we were up. But it meant he was shattered and slept the whole way home so I didn't have to stop. Just about unpacked now, G was very happy to see his daddy :p

Has your LO still got diarrhoea? Poor thing, hope it clears up soon.

Sammie enjoy your night out! Noah will be fine!

I've been reading my blw book, its quite interesting but very "blw is the only way to go", not balanced at all and I think there are pros and cons to both blw and purees. For the time being we've got a few jars to get through (which he loves!) so having those with finger foods, may go 100% blw once they're all gone.

BLW is great, but sometimes it can be sightly annoying if I'm having something maybe not suitable for him, now that he is eating properly or I can't be bothered having dinner I still need to make something proper for him. In saying that I started with purees for A, and I know next baby I won't even go down that route, will be BLW from the start.

Thanks gilly, its good to hear opinions from real people rather than just books. What kind of things did you start with? I guess the book will give some ideas, I've not got very far into it yet. We eat a lot of fairly spicy things, and a lot of rice. I think his spice tolerance is pretty good already as I ate hot stuff all through pregnancy and am bfing, a friend doesn't normally eat hot stuff and a few hot Doritos upset her bf baby!

Whatever I ate, honestly, I think one of the first thing he's ever had was a baked potato and beans, and meatballs :D he loves meatballs.

If I'm doing curry or whatever I tend to do a separate pot and just add less curry powder/chillis.

Don't be afraid of using herbs and spices though, A loves those. With rice I give him a preloaded spoon as he can't quite manage it on it's own, or if I'm having rice I sometimes do him pasta as he can pick that up easier.

Things like nann bread with a tiny bit of rice and topping go down well. There are a good number of books out there with recipes in it specifically for BLW, things like bread scrolls.

For breakfast we do porridge fingers, muffins, porridge balls, fruit fingers, yogurt (dairy free for us and on a pre-loaded spoon) bite sized shredded wheat just lightly soaked in milk so he can still pick them up :)

Lunch I tend to do baked potato, pasta, toast, bread sticks, have even given him Tesco potato waffles (they're the lowest in salt)

Dinner things like Bolognese (extremely messy but fun) casserole, curry, wedges and chilli, mini home made burgers (I use turkey mince sometimes) He loves chips, I make my own oven cooked ones so I figure they can't be that bad :D

I do make extra and bundle it up so that on days where I'm maybe having something he can't have I can just leave something out for him.

Remember at the start they won't eat much and most of it will get smooshed or played with or just gummed and that's fine as they're experimenting. They will eventually start to eat more. Also he will gag at one point or another, the trick they say is sit on your hands for 10 seconds, before reacting. If they're making any sort of noise it's gagging and not choking. So hard at the beginning though to let go :o

For snacks I tend to just use baby biscuits/fruit/organix crisps etc.
