Sammie, there's some info here: www.netmums.com/local-to-you/places-to-go/toy-libraries. Your local authority should also know more - I think there's one in most London boroughs, so fingers crossed they're common elsewhere too! If you google toy library and your local authority name, something will hopefully come up.

Katie, what are they like for cleanliness? I'm worried about germs and don't buy second hand toys - I realise they'll all be different, but did it seem like they cleaned the toys properly after each borrower? My local toy library just advertised for volunteers to help clean toys, but I'm still a bit worried... I guess I should stop being paranoid though - once she starts nursery, she'll be playing with toys all day that have been all over the floor and in other babies' mouths!....

Most of the toys looked pretty clean to me Nutella, there are some ride on type toys that have been pretty well used but I think that's to be expected. I did wonder about germs and stuff but then at normal baby group he shares toys that other babies have probably been chewing on, i think it's just a fact of life. One thing I'm not keen on is second hand soft toys, hard plastic that can be wiped with an anti bac wipe or something is ok IMO.

He's awake now, clearly well rested as he's bouncing like a complete loon in his jumperoo!

:rotfl: sounds like George is having fun!!

I've just given Noah his lunch as he seems fine so we are going to give baby group a try, if he starts coughing/getting upset I can always bring him straight home.

  • Hi all

Gilly, sounds nasty. Hope you get shot of it soon x

I may be over reacting but I am now thinking Aiden is getting poorly. My sisters boy is seeing the doc at 2 so it might not even be measles, but Aiden slept till 8am today which he never ever does, didnt eat much and slept again for 3 hrs. He has no rash though but has had 4 pooey nappies which isnt unusual for him. I am concerned if he is getting measles he hasnt had mmr so would get it worse.
My sis said Owen started off sleeping alot and off his food then 2 days later rash came up. I should wait to see what her doc says as it could be me worrying over nothing.

Have fun at baby grp Sammie :) Katie hope you get through to docs....mine are rubbish with the phone too xx

Oh no sunshine, fingers crossed its not measles! If your nephew does have it could you get an appt at the docs for a check over? I don't know if they can test for measles before the rash appears? They might have some advice on how to minimise it at least?

We've just got back from town, very grey and damp today. Got a new projector though, hopefully this will last a bit longer than the mobiles.

Had another lovely time at baby sensory - Jonathan fell asleep just at the point where we had tea and coffees - he's got such good timing. :)

I've also just discovered a really good stain remover for getting rid of poo stains - ecover stain remover - it's not cheap at £3.05 per bottle and you can only seem to get it in Waitrose, but it's got some quite impressive stains out first time today with only that and soapnuts to wash. The only one that hasn't come out was one where I didn't treat it immediately (a day old) so I've left that on the bedroom windowsill to fade in the daylight.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

  • Well good news my nephew doesnt have measles :) just a viral thing which will pass.

Sexymouse, baby group sounds fun! Am pretty sure I have seen that stain remover in our asda, so may try some.

Sorry to hear of all your little ones who are poorly at the moment, I hope they start feeling better soon!

RE Toy Libraries. In our area these are part of the Children and Family Centres, I haven't use them yet as Teddy is too little for toys to hold her attention but from what I understand about ours is you pay about £2.50 to become a member and then I don't think you have to pay for each thing you borrow after that.

I did walk down to our local C&F Centre this morning to check out a group called 'Baby Movers' as it was the only group on the timetable that mentioned babies but we were a bit late due to a projectile nappy and the group had already started (no one asked if we wanted to join in but all the babies were quite a bit older than Teddy so maybe its only for once they can sit up?! I only really wanted to go to try and meet some other mums :( ). Anyway it must have been far to hot in there for Teddy because she screamed and screamed the whole time we were there but was fine as soon as we left- so we didn't stay long just watched the baby group for 10 mins or so. Perhaps we'll try the bf drop-in group at the other C&F Centre in the centre of town on Thursday, but we'll have to drive to that one.
