SM - Baby Sensory group sounds good I'm glad you and J enjoyed yourselves, our nearest one is in the next big town and I'm trying to conserve petrol at the moment.

Quick question Ladies, I'm going to try Teddy on some EBM in a bottle tonight so that DW might be able to help out by giving Teddy a bottle feed in the mornings before she goes to work, I have no idea how much to initially offer, any suggestions?

EL.Smith your baby was born the week after Jonathan, and I think I was feeding him 80mls at 3 weeks old. I believe their tummies can only hold between 60-110ml at that age, but Jonathan is quite a hungry and big baby so at nearly 4 weeks, he's taking 100ml in the daytime and about 90ml at night when he seems less keen to eat as he's tired.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

  • Elsmith - maybe start with 3oz and see how that goes. I think babies will guzzle more via bottle though as Niall will take 5oz in one go but I am sure he doesn't get this from me in one feed.

Niall still unwell with cold up every 2/3 hours with him nd after reading turtles post re her lo I am sure this is the reason for frequent wakings. Have just got appt in post today for his nex injections in 2 weeks time:(

Went to kiddicare today an got this http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_57+5001+320_10751_-1_14636_126020_10001_14636

It only cost us £30 after using discount code and vouchers. I am a spanner though should have used my 10% code to also get medela steriliser as you can't get it anywhere cheaper than £60.

Just using cold water steriliser at the moment and not happy with it.

I think my milk is increasing with expressing 4 times a day as getting about 5-10ml more per expression

Sunshine - that's great news about your nephew, I bet you are relieved!

Noah is worn out after baby group! I didn't realise they have a stay and play on Tuesday mornings there too so may pop in after I have dropped the boys off to school tomorrow as its on the same campus :)

    Hi guys,

Sorry I haven't really posted in a few days. I just had a couple of questions.

We've decided that I'm going to express and feed baby by bottle I've done some expressing via a Medela electric pump in hospital and they gave small bottles to store it in (50ml size) and I kept them in the fridge till I was ready to use them and when he fed he would normally have two of them and not leave any. However now we are home I only have access to a manual pump, if I was to express 100ml direct into a bottle but he only took 75ml of it do I need to bin the left over or can it go in the fridge till next feed? x

Ikkle- I used to put milk that I did not want to give straightaway into sterilised bottle and into fridge. If you mean baby has already drunk from the bottle then I would discard any remainder

ikkle it's fine to put it in the fridge from what I've read on EPing forums. I've done it with Jonathan and he hasn't had any ill-effects from it as the milk is naturally antibacterial which is why it can be kept at room temperature for 6 hours.
