Once asleep he's good but I think life is far too interesting now to waste time sleeping!
:rotfl::rotfl:I think this is the problem here aswell! He is far too nosey!
Has your LO ever napped in the day? How old is N?
He always has 2 or 3 naps during the day, usually around the same time aswell, but I always have to get him to sleep he wont just go down by himself. But he goes down to bed at night fine by himself, I just dont get it!
He is 15 weeks old.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -

Very very wishful thinking!!I was up from midnight until 5am with LO, OH took over at 5am but I couldn't sleep.
Delain - Hope the Drs goes ok, would be interested in what they say as Isabella has a lot of spots on her face and neck, im assuming they are milk spots but not sure.
I assumed LO had milk spots, but when HV saw her yesterday she said it is eczema.Someone please tell me where I am going wrong!
Noah will not go for a nap during the day without being rocked to sleep first,
Ditto, Katie is the same, if I put her down she screams. If I put her down after she has fallen asleep she will wake 5 minutes later and screamThe only time she goes to sleep herself is in the car or her pram. At some point we are going to have to do controlled crying with her
Well I had a nightmare night last night. Took Katie to the baby clinic to be weighed yesterday and she has put 1 and half lb on in 2 weeks :T HV commented on her skin, and what I had thought were milk spots were eczema  So HV gave me sme ointment to put on her and off we trundled home. I put the ointment on her a in the afternoon and then OH put it on again before bed.
I was woken at midnight by the horrible mucus rattle that Katie has and got up with her. Usually after holding her upright for 30 mins the rattle goes and I can put her back to bed for an hour before it starts again. Not last night though, it just wouldn't go away. I held her upright from midnight until 5am. On top of that her face was the colour of a tomato and the eczema had spread all over her face
I phoned the docs first thing and got an appointment this morn, he gave me 4 different potions for her skin. It turns out she also has a chest infection, and her temp was 38.3! So she has antibiotics and calpol for that. It's just as well she gets free prescriptions. So we are now in quarantine until Katie is on the mend. The plan had been for her to spend the night at my mams so I could get some sleep, but not now. So if anyone wants to chat in the early hours, no doubt I'll be checking in here.0 -
ww sorry to hear your having a mare of it. samuel was like that the other week, slept on sofa for a week so he could sleep upright.
the oilatum bath soak and oilatum cream has worked really well with samuels eczema.
as for daytime naps i know i will get shot down for it but i love cuddling samuel to sleep, never did it with my other 2 , had them in routines and was strict etc but im just loving being at home with samuel and enjoying our cuddles and us times whilst he is still small, i know how quick it goes. xnow proud mum to 3 handsome boys :j latest one born 10/10/11:j0 -
Omg.. what a nightmare few days. Spent a horrible 24 hrs in hospital with little CJ. Went in via resus in an ambulance as it was out of hours, and LO was just not right and my instinct said she was getting worse- not wanting to feed, not wanting to rouse when we tried to wake her for a feed, a bit pale and floppy. Very scary stuff indeed. All is well, but we are now on a fairly military regime of 20 mins b/feed every 2 hours without fail, day and night until the end of next week, when her own hunger management should be stronger. Tiring as the best case scenario is about 1.30mins of sleep at a time, and if she takes a prolonged amount of stop and starting to feed 20 mins, it is alot less! At the moment, we have to nearly constantly tickle and rub her to get her to carry on sucking.
The ambulance and resus team were great, but i have to say, the A&E paeds and Paeds ward at the hospital we went to were truly awful (reaffirms i was right not to want to have LO there!) If we had followed what they said, we would have a very sick baby by now- having in A&E Paeds said she was a bit dehydrated and needed to be fed 90ml of pumped breast milk if i could produce it (formula if not), or fed by tube, because they couldnt be sure how much milk i had, so b/f wasnt acceptable, they then left us in a bare room with 2 chairs for 7 hours, before admitting us to a ward- 7 hours which if we had listened, she would have had no feed at all. As it was i carried on trying to feed her, as i wasnt willing to allow her to get distressed by refusing to B/F her and managed 2 x 5 min feeds and 1 x 20 mins before being admitted to the ward. I was instructed that once on the ward, that i had to show i was able to produce 90ml of milk for a 5am feed. Having left me without a pump, and then with no instructions on how to use it when i reminded them, having been feeding LO from one breast, and expressing with the other at the same time (EEK!), i managed the full 90ml, but at 5am, with no means of heating/feeding the milk to LO anyway, noone bothered to come back to me- couldnt get anyone till 6.30, and no doctor came round to check until 10am, which would have been over 12 hours without feed if i wasnt ignoring their instructions and b/f.
It really scares me what would have happened if i was scared to ignore the doctors!
Anyway. LO is doing really well, lots of wet and dirty nappies, feeding, interacting, and was so good at going back down in her crib between feeds without fussing. Fingers crossed this was a one and only event...Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Hugs Kira. I can sympathise as I had a similar experience with Daniel. 3 days old, very sleepy, would only feed once every 12 hours, kept vomiting mucas hen stopped doing wet nappies. The hospital were great. We were taken into treatment area 2 mins after arriving in A&E but it was a long wait til we were admitted to a ward. I wasn't allowed to breast feed as they wanted to see how much he was taking. After asking repeatedly I was given a breast pump but hadn't a clue how to use it. Damaged my nipples turning it up to full. But the nurses were very good and let me sleep while they took him off every few hours to feed him. Completely turned a corner with him and got his tongue tie cut too. So glad I took that decision as he had lost 15% body weight already.
Hope you have turned a corner too Kira and things get easier. It also shows that nothing beats mum's instincts!
Womble Daniel has some excema on his ear and cheek and bad cradle cap. Got given diprobase by HV and it got so red that he clawed at it like mad and I had to swaddle both arms to stop him scratching. Olive oil seems to soothe it a bit but it's not gone away and I'm not sure what else to put on it. Hope that your LO settles down soon now that he's on antibiotics and you both start to get more sleep.
Daniel was 4 months on Sunday and has been seriously cranky these last few days. He still has a cough and his cradle cap is driving him mad, plus he seems a bit more hungry. I'm really hoping its a phase as he is such hard work and cries at any excuse it seems. Feel a bit weary and OH seems to be completely unable to settle him. OH is now sitting enjoying a pint of cider watching Telly. Might have one too after kids are in bed.First Baby born January 2007

((HUGS)) Mimi. Do what's right for you and for your children. All will come right in the end I'm sure.
Kira - How awful! So glad to hear you went with your instincts and what you knew to be right in the end. Hope LO better now.
Flower - Sadie is 15 weeks on Monday and will nap in the morning and early afternoon. It tends to work - feed at 7am, chat/ plays on her mat/ plays with me - put her in sleeping bag that she wears at night - lay down in cot about 8.30am and she'll sleep for about 45 minutes. I do the same after 11am feed, I normally lie her down by about 12 after a chat and a play and she goes off, probably for about an hour. Only time I can't get it to work is after her 3pm feed! When all else fails we head out in the pram and then she'll sleep for ages! I also usually leave her in the pram when we get back and leave her to snooze.
Sorry if I missed anything important from anyone else!
Sadie is at last over her chesty cough, I'm struggling with a cold instead so DH is doing night feeds to give me a chance to sleep it off! That's what I'm planning anyway ...Wandered away from the MSE track for a while but am back and on a mission! Debts cleared nearly £18k. Now to start saving ...0 -
Kira That sounds like a nightmare. Well done on following your instincts and continuing to feed her. I hope she continues to feed well for you x

Also my husband is still off work but he starts back next week and im petrified about being on my own. Im struggling with not sleeping at night and have no idea how to get through a whole day and night on my own as its not fair on my husband to be up in the night with having to travel to work as well.
Hi hun, not sure if you and your husband want to try this but this is what we do:
Around 8ish (but depends on when LO is tired) we start the bedtime routine (bath, feed, bed) which husband does.
I go to sleep while he is doing that, then when LO wakes for the first feed in the middle of the night, I have gotten a good chunk of sleep.
Husband also does the early feed before he goes to work allowing me to sleep in a little, and I do all the feeds in the night so hubby gets to sleep for a good 7 hours.
So basically hubby does late and early feeds and gets a good nights sleep and I do all the overnight feeds but coz I go to bed early I get a good few hours too.

Cradle cap & dry skin, (8 years ago) the health visitor recommended olive oil for my nephew, which worked okish, but one weekend away my sister forgot to bring it (about 6 weeks) so we used my "burts bees apricot oil" which worked amazingly well, so much so I kept importing it from the US, for the daily massage she did, as it was not then available here. Boots and other places do it now for around £10/12 for a bottle, it will last a while and my be worth a try, if you are not happy with your current solution. I've got a bottle ready for my new baby, it was one of the first things I bought! HTH:ANeeding to save all the money, lots of MSE learning still to do
