Am considering a new topic called "you know u are a new mum when....".
My first entries are for today...
it doesn't occur to you that in desperation you took baby for a pram walk in your pj's until several hours after you return....
that you are so in need of sleep that you find yourself trying to decide whether to go to do that v urgent loo visit you can feel imminent, OR let the baby sleep where she is on you for however many precious minutes it will give you..
You open the door to a stranger, who turns up unannounced, and within moments have taken them to your room to show your lady bits and discuss the obs and outs of poo.....
LMAO!!!!!
So mine for this week are:
"you know u are a new mum when....".
...someone throws up on your boobs and you don't bat an eye
...going to the toilet qualifies as quality 'me' time
...you don't have time to even put a necklace on anymoreMy darling boy born December 20110 -

You know you're a mom when..
You have time to shave only one leg at a time.
You hide in the bathroom to be alone.
You child throws up, and you catch it.
You get a babysitter because you haven't been out with your husband in ages, then spend half the night talking about and checking on the kids.
You find yourself cutting your husband's sandwiches into unusual shapes.
You use your own saliva to clean your child's face.
You say at least once a day, "I'm not cut out for this job", but you know you wouldn't trade it for anything in the world...
you stand still cross you legs and brace yourself every time you feel the need to sneeze
you sing nursery rhymes in the car even when the kids aren't there
you spend all day watching cbeebies even when the kids are upstairs playing
When you're at work and someone asks you for something, and you catch yourself saying "say please."
You use your hair-drier more often as a white noise machine to soothe an infant than you use it to actually dry your hair.
You think nothing of it when a small child shoves pre-chewed food into your mouth.:j Proud mum to Jade age 10 years and Baby Ellie born Christmas Day:eek: with a broke heartProven to be a little fighter and battling on with her heart condition :j

Hi Ladies
LabLover - We used the Gina Ford CLB routine too - and got on really well with it. I'm a routine kinda person so it worked well for us. As a first time mum, it has been a Godsend, and if we have another baby I will def use the same routine. DD slept through the night from 12 weeks and I haven't had to feed her in the middle of the night since. I was nervous about dropping the dream feed - and we dropped that somewhere between 6 and 7 months with no problem.
The moses basket wasn't used for too long here either. Not enough space and a bit to hard for my DD's liking. I noticed a great improvement in her sleeping when she slept in her own cot bed at 8 weeks.
We still use a dummy. I remember a few nights of doing the dummy dance and was ready to go cold turkey to get rid of it, and then DD learnt how to pick it up herself and put it back inNow when I put her to bed she goes down with 3 dummies as 1 will always get thrown out and she can always find another one. I try to limit the use during the day though so only really use them to settle at night time/naps
