turtlemoose when I was in labour, I had 8 different people with their hand up my bits, including a man, who I would have been horrified to have done so pre-baby. Will be interesting to see if I'm any less embarrassed when I have a smear next year.
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Did anyone watch that "is breast really best?" documentary last week? I recorded it and watched it yesterday (assume its prob on iplayer).

I bawled my eyes out at the scene of a woman giving birth and they placed the baby on her chest and they tried to feed, still makes me mad that they took my baby away!!!!

It was interesting, and quite balanced, the presenter is a FFing mum.

I was shocked that the official UK rate of women BFing exclusively at 5 months is only 3% maybe the NHS should stop the "ram it down your throat that breast is best and make you feel like !!!! if you don't do it" attitude, and switch to one that's more supportive, maybe they'd get the numbers up then!!!!

Also I'm so tempted to start selling my milk. One preemie ward said they pay £100 a litre for it. That's about 35 oz, so about £2.85 an oz. hmmmmmmm!!!!!

    Hello all
Looked after my nephew this morn with Aiden, he is 2 but is currently being assessed as he is slow developing so he is more like 18months, I am shattered after chasing them both round! It was quite sweet having 2 little people here :) Aiden loved it! My house is a tip though!

Aiden had a 2.5hr nap just and is now squeezing the life out of a crumpet in his highchair.

Sexymouse, brilliant that things are improving :D hope all goes well for Friday.

    Back later x

We were away for the weekend so I only just caught up.

Our weekend was very unMSE - bought a new bouncer and mat for MIL's place; a mobile, a M&P Tummy Time Activity Toy, a Sophie, two packs of sleepsuits 3-6m, a pack of muslin squares, Bonjela and two big packs of nappies as they were on offer  Luckily had some gift cards but it's still shocking how much we spent.

sexymouse - I'm glad your furbaby is going to be fine and that J has got drops for his eyes. It's really shocking about his arm - hope it gets fixed sooner rather than later. And well done on expressing so much.

turtlemoose - funny enough, I still don't look forward to my smear test and will probably be putting off having it...

re temperatures - it's around 19 degrees when we go to sleep and 17 in the morning when we get up. B has a 2.5 tog sleeping bag (vest + sleepsuit) and I put gloves or socks on his hands to keep them warm. He sometimes pulls them off during the night and then wakes up with stone cold hands but his belly is still nice and warm. Oh, and we have a window open all night every night. Just a crack but enough to get fresh air in.

re sleeping - we only use our cot at night. During the day he naps just anywhere - in the carrycot, on the sofa next to me, on daddy's legs, in the sling, in his bouncer. We don't have any routine during the day either, apart from feeding times which are (sort of) fixed. He sleeps when he's tired and we go out for a walk when it's not raining. I don't know what my HV would say to that but she doesn't know :rotfl:

Can't wait to start giving him proper food. All your stories of your LOs eating strawberries, carrots etc make me want to cook.

Tesco's running a 'weaning week' from today until 15th Oct - I haven't had a proper look, but looks like there are a few offers (plus competitions): www.tesco.com/groceries/zones/default.aspx?name=baby-weaning

Wise words, very wise words :o I had a look at the Cow & Gate website today to read about their follow-on milk which we'll probably switch to once LO reaches 6 months - to get to their product information you're asked to read an 'important notice' about how much better breast milk is. Argh!

Nutella I was told that the baby can stay on first milk and that follow-on milk is a gimmick to make you spend more.

Sexymouse, that's really interesting - would love to hear what other FF mums on here have done; did you switch to follow on milk or did you stay on the 'first stage' one? I've heard that the extra iron in follow on milk can cause constipation... LO's very happy on her 'first stage' milk - should we stick with it?... I know follow on milk is more likely to be on offer and you get points etc. but my one and only priority is my LO's health and growth.
