Hi all, hope its ok to join in. My youngest, alex, is 5 weeks old. He has 3 older sisters aged 7,5 and 3 so life is pretty chaotic and money saving is always on the agenda!
Congratulations and welcome! I hope your little man is doing well and that your girls are enjoying having a brotherDon't know how you manage with four - my little girl is singlehandedly keeping me occupied 24/7!
Word of warning re. moneysaving: Although in principle we all have good intentions, we do tend to get a bit carried away talking about clothes, toys and all sorts of other stuff that our LOs need (or that we convince ourselves that they need)!0 -
Turtle - welcome back, hope you had a nice time with your family
Jannine - how did your nearly new sale go? Hope you managed to make the £200 you were hoping for
Sammie/Katie - believe it or not, but I haven't had any alcohol since I got pregnant in August last year! I just haven't felt like it, but sometimes I do wonder what would happen if I had a glass of wine now - I'm a lightweight at the best of times!...0 -
Sexymouse-glad things are looking up for both of your babies
I go by feeling the chest for temperature. Although I keep getting moaned at by mil and my mum that Niall isn't wrapped up enough. Any of you ladies put socks under sleep suits? I am fed up with them saying his hands and feet are cold.
Hard day hear today Niall has only slept in sling today got him off to sleep many times in bouncer and Moses basket only or him to wake 5mins later
We have got into the pattern of taking Niall up at 9pm, he feeds then I tend to get him to sleep for 10pm. He will sleep for about 5hours then feed then sleep 2-3hours. We obviously want to move this forward and are slowly going to bring bedtime forward. He is currently 8 weeks. Just wondered what other people's patterns are with babies of similar age?

Hi all
Just taken us nearly an hour to get LO to sleep....he is such a little scamp!
I cannot drink anymore either, have never been a big drinker anyway but now even 1 glass and I feel it! I dont really fancy it either anymore, is that just me?!?
Laura- at Nialls age, Aiden had awful colic which was worse between 6-10pm so we had no hope of getting him to bed at an earlier time. He used to go up with us about 1030 and sleep till around 4, then feed and sleep until around 8. At about 12-14 weeks his colic cleared and he sort of fell into his own routine of bed at 830, we have now moved it forward to 7-730 as he naps less in the day. Re sleeping through, still fighting that battle! Sometimes he will, other nights not.
Thought earlier when I am back at work if Aiden is still going to bed at 7ish I will hardly see him

Laura, I think you should stick with feeling the chest for temperature - feet and hands will never be an accurate indication of how hot or cold he is. I've never put socks under a sleepsuit. Mothers and MILs will always worry about cold feet and hands, but if he's happy and not cold I wouldn't worry.
When my LO was 8 weeks, she'd normally fall asleep around 8.30/9pm, wake up at 2am-ish for a feed, then again at around 5/6am. I would then put her into bed with me, as she'd then sleep until 8/8.30am. I still do this - if I don't, she's wide awake at 6am refusing to sleep anymore. When she was about 10 weeks, we started moving bedtime forward - we now start her bedtime routine between 6.30 and 7pm (depending on how tired she is), then bath, massage, feed, and she's usually asleep about an hour later. Getting our evenings back has been great - I'd definitely recommend it! Although admittedly I spend most evenings doing laundry, cleaning, sorting out milk bottles etc. but still...
Hope the daytime naps improve for you soon. Do you put him in his basket/bouncer already asleep? We used to do this, and she'd wake up within 5 mins. She's gradually learnt to fall asleep by herself, but I think she was at least 12 weeks before she was able to do this, and she now naps for about 30 mins. Niall will get there too - I'm sure things will get better over the next few weeks.0 -

I've been thinking about this too - I'll be picking LO up from the nursery at 6.30pm, so we'll be home at around 7pm. We'll actually have to start her bedtime routine later than we do now (currently 6.30/7pm) just to get time for her to have dinner, then it'll be straight off to bed. I'm also going to have to be super-organised with her food and cook things in advance that can just be re-heated so that she can eat as soon as we get home. BooThankfully OH will be able to pick her up earlier on some days, so she'll at least get some time with him in the evenings, and she'll only be at nursery 3 days a week. But still...

Bah, how have you managed to bring bedtimes earlier? It's 10pm ish here, and I can only get him to go down after half an hour lying down feeds in a dark room, wit til he's asleep and transfer to cot.
He used to go to bed awake and get himself off no problems....he hit 16 weeks and now cries if we try anything bedtime-y before half 9 onwards. He also has to be asleep before going in the cot or there's trouble (for me!).
We went backwards from a really good bedtime to now it stresses us both out. Any one had anything like it? I'm toying with one of the projectors that was talked about on here recently....hmm0 -
Nutella - cute pic she's gorgeous.
Sunshine when are you going back to work?
