Thanks - just been googling a bit, and the general consensus seems to be that follow on milk is unnecessary. Think I might keep LO on stage 1, given that she's happy on it...0

Anybody used a doidy cup instead of sippy cups?
I really like the look of them, but OH thinks it's a gimmick and he's just going to spill it all over himself. Reuben that us, not OH lol. I think no matter what age he is, when he first starts using an open topped cup, he's going to spill it until he's got the hang of it, might as well start now if these work?? I'm 27 and I still spill drinks now from time to time!! :rotfl:0 -
Sexymouse, that's really interesting - would love to hear what other FF mums on here have done; did you switch to follow on milk or did you stay on the 'first stage' one? I've heard that the extra iron in follow on milk can cause constipation... LO's very happy on her 'first stage' milk - should we stick with it?... I know follow on milk is more likely to be on offer and you get points etc. but my one and only priority is my LO's health and growth.
I've kept all my boys on the first stage milk (sma gold) and they have been fine.

I was told to go onto cows milk by hv now Maisie is 6 months old, but she is on special milk so gonna stick to that for a while yet.0

Cows milk you tend not to give as a drink until 1 year, it doesn't have the necessary vitamins and nutrients for any babies under that age. You can use it in cooking from 6m+ on though.
Follow on milk is the exact same as stage 1 except it has more iron, it's also cheaper, and can be put on offers and 2 for £xx. You can also collect advantage card points/club card points when you buy it.
That's it really, A is on a special milk free formula, so will be on that until 1 year, where they will review it but more than likely he'l be on it until 2 yearswe use Oat/Almond milk in cooking for him.

Hi Gilly. Is Aaron still on Nutramigen AA? That is what Maisie is now on. Sadly her health is not good and she is awaiting 2 operations at the moment. Hope your well, don't get on here much xx0 -
Hello! How awful to hear that
wee pet. I hope you're alright, and coping as well as you can be with all of that going on. Do they know when she will be getting her ops?
Yes he is still on Nutramigen AA, he doesn't mind it at all, he just won't eat it in food, or his cereal. Oat milk is fab for that, I only heard about it a few weeks ago, I got it from Holland & Barratt.
How is she finding it? Is it for a cows milk protein intolerance she has it? xxxThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0 -
Hi Ladies,
Having a hard time with Poppy for the past few days, her sleeping as gone right out the window and she has been waking from 2.00am for the past few nights and not settling again until 5.00am, hoping its just a phase as I'm knackered and really don't want to start work again in a months time feeling like this.
Took her on the park for the first time today and sat her in a baby swing, she wasn't impressed and hasn't been very smiley at all for a few days. Still no tooth yet so maybe its going to come through soon and this is why she is grumpy.
When I go back to work Poppy will be having her prescription milk during the day (Infatrini for slow growth) and I'll still breastfeed her in the morning and night. I was thinking about expressing but I've spent so long expressing for her and don't want to have to express at work, it won't do any harm to have her Infatrini for a few feeds and she loves it even though it smells like cream and taste horrible!

Aiden has cow and gate follow on milk, he has done for about 3 wks. My HV suggested it when I mentioned we were weaning him.
He has had no problems with it at all. As for constipation, he goes roughly 4 times a day so no worries there! He has 3 or 4 bottles of 7oz a day, in cooking we use full fat cows milk and in his breakfast I use half cows milk half formula.
Maybe buy a couple of cartons when the time comes and see how she goes with them?
Hope everyone is okay xxLittle Man born 11 March 2012 :smileyhea
