I see lots of your LO's have brown eyes, when do eyes normally change colour? Poppy'e eyes are blue with very small brown specks. I have very dark brown eyes and my OH has blue eyes, but I always thought brown eyes were dominant?

I'm off to Matalan tomorrow to buy Poppy some wooly hats after seeing the super cute hats on here!

    xx

If brown eyes are dominant, it means you only need one brown eye gene to get them. So you may have one brown and one blue gene, and have passed on the blue one to Poppy. If your other half has blue eyes, he'd have to have two blue genes, so definitely passed on a blue one.

My eldest has blue and I have brown, so I must have one of each. His have gone greenish blue, I hope the little one keeps his really deep blue ones!

I researched this when Jake was first born and apparently it can change at any point up until they are about 4 and it can change more than once!
Yes you are right, in order of dominance it goes brown green blue but its not always that simple if you have bl/br parents you will have brown eyes and if your OH has bl/bl parents he will have blue eyes but it means that its also possible for poppy to have blue eyes as its a 3/1 ratio of blue plus its not just the immediate parents/grandparents as it apparently goes back loads of generations so ultimately they cant tell.
What I'm saying is; cross your fingers :rotfl:
I looked this up too, and think concluded that it used to be thought brown was dominant but the conclusion now is "it's more complicated than that" :) I have a dominant streak of blue (me, my mother and her two siblings, her father all have/had the same distinctive blue), my dad's were greeny-brown. I'm curious to see what my bump ends up being re eye colour and skin/hair, both OH and I have a strong streak of ginger in us too hair-wise (and light skin with pink undertone), but his sister has a much more olive coloured tone to her skin.

You can have blue eyes if one of your parents has blue eyes, provided the one with brown eyes has a recessive blue gene. In fact, you can have blue eyes even if both parents have brown eyes. You can't have brown eyes if both your parents have blue.

Is anybody else dressing their LO's for Halloween? I bought Poppy this outfit from Asda: http://direct.asda.com/george/baby-girls-clothes/pumpkin-halloween-tutu-bodysuit/G003908955,default,pd.html

She looks mega cute in it! I'm taking her for her first trick and treating to both sets of Grandparents and my Sister! I get quite excited about Halloween, Birthdays, Christmas etc! Just like a big kid and at least I have a child now so I can really go overboard on the parties and celebrations!! :rotfl:

I'm really tempted to dress Freddie as a pumpkin. In fact, I might just buy a massive one, hollow it out and stick him in it :o:D

I like the one in your link but I'm not sure the green tutu would suit him (blue's more his colour :D)).

I dressed my ds1 in a pumpkin outfit when he was younger, I had to tell him he was dressed as batman otherwise he wouldn't wear it! :D luckily he was too young to know what a pumpkin was ;)

I've got to wait in today as we have British gas coming round to change our meters, our gas ran out this morning which was good timing as I'm not topping it up again. I can wait to get off of per payment meters and onto direct debit. :)

    Hope babies all slept well.

I had a really difficult choice as we worked out I could afford to stay at home as my hubs earns a lot more than me, but I do actually love me job and I'm lucky to have all the school hols off! If I were in your position with 3 children I would def be a stay at home mum!!

Noah sounds like Poppy, lots of rolling but that's it and no sign of a tooth yet! Though we've had awful pooey nappies for a few weeks now and red rosey cheeks so hoping its going to come through soon! I never know whether I should be worried at her age that she isn't as advanced as other babies, but we see the Consultant monthly and he's happy so I'm not going to start worrying needlessly!

That's lucky you get the school holidays off as I know mums up the school that pay a fortune for child care especially in the 6 weeks.

Im lucky as dp started his own business last year (he is an electrician) and it really took off, don't get me wrong we aren't rich by far but he earns enough to pay the bills comfortably.

Hi sunshine, glad Aiden seems to be on the mend finally. Hope he can shake the cough soon too.

We had another hideous night, up at 10pm, up at 1 and then I couldn't get him back to sleep til 3, up at 4 and awake til 5 then up at 6 briefly and back to sleep til 7.30. Argh I feel like a zombie and don't look much better!

But have finally seen the hv who said she can't advise starting earlier than the guidelines (6months) but she knows how hard it is when they're always hungry so if we do want to start early to give just a tiny bit of baby rice and mushed up veg. So I'm off to tesco when he wakes up! Can't carry on with nights like this for another month.

Thats all we started with, baby rice for 2days and then a tiny bit of carrott or sweet potato etc. I started at 5months too. I really hope it sorts his sleeping out for you, its so awful being up all night. Fingers crossed its what he needs xx

Reuben has a new trick....putting one leg through the bars of the cot, then rolling over, then waking himself up crying because he's got stuck with his leg all twisted. He's done it 2 nights in a row now, driving me nuts!! He didnt go down until half ten last night  then up at 12, 2, 4 and eventually brought him in to bed with me when he got up at 5 *sigh*

I've tried a bumper but he cries when he goes in the cot when it's there. Humph.

I've even tried a dummy lately, in desperation. I'm not against them per se, but I was pleased we got to nearly 4 months without one and was hoping to not need it. Doesn't matter anyway as he won't have it! It's mummy or nothing....not sure whether to feel pleased or exasperated :rotfl:
