Thanks Turtle, here goes attempt 9! Hmmm after a few attempts I'm not sure I did it entirely according to your instructions...but it worked so never mind!

They're from a couple of weeks ago now, the ball thing on the tray in front of him is one of my toys from when I was a baby! Not sure why I have such a daft expression on my face in the second!!!!

Hi all, I am gatecrashing as I haven't actually had baby yet, I am 24 weeks pregnant (hope you don't mind). I was wondering what you would recommend in terms of bedding for when our little boy arrives?

I was thinking of the sleeping bags that he could wear rather than a blanket as there is less chance of suffocation with those. But am concerned that he will not be able to kick the sleeping bag off if he gets too hot as he would a blanket.

    Any advice would be great!

    Thanks x

We've worked our way through the whole range of bedding: cellular blankets, swaddle blankets, knitted blankets, fleece blankets, sleeping bags. I'd suggest not getting too much of any one type of bedding until your baby's here and you know what they're like - e.g. whether you have a wriggler (my LO didn't start kicking off blankets until she was almost 4 months old) and whether they're the warm or cold type. I know the official advice is that baby should wear/have one more layer than you, but in our house it's the other way round - she's always hot and I'm always cold!

Cellular blankets are ideal when they're tiny as they can breathe through them if they end up in their face - most are big enough to be folded in two, so warm enough for winter unless you have a very cold bedroom. Unless you have a big baby, sleeping bags are not usually recommended from birth. My LO really doesn't like sleeping bags in any shape or form, although she seemed to mind less when she was younger. She loved being swaddled when she was tiny - now she just screams if you wrap her up too much. Now that it's colder, we use a warm and soft fleece blanket from Mothercare.

Anyway, I'm probably not helping much - what I'm trying to say is that I'd probably just get one or two blankets and one sleeping bag (Babies R Us often have them on offer), and then see what your LO is like and what you prefer using, including how often you get nappy leaks, vomiting and the like - thicker sleeping bags take much longer to dry after a wash. You can always get more quickly and easily by sending OH to the shops or ordering online.

Sammie, lovely pic!! Wheres that hat from? I love it, think I may be obsessed with buying him hats !

Nutella, she is stunning. So so pretty!!

Well, twice today Aiden has gone in his cot awake and fallen asleep on his own. Not much to some of you I know, but for my boy thats amazing. Nutella, he has taken to the seahorse! OH bought him his own today as we only borrowed one for the wkend off our friends little girl.

Hope everyone is ok tonight. We are having a curry for tea, one of those takeaway ones but from the supermarket - its our little treat for the week

Scary thought but this time in 6 weeks I'll be back at work - noooooo!!! :(

Boo to work! Hope you're able to make the most of those 6 weeks. But at least Poppy will have a great time with your mum (? It is your mum who'll be looking after her, right?... Or did I imagine that?). I've just realised I'm now over half way through maternity leave... Going back to work in February :(

Awww, thank you. I do think she's rather cute, but I think I may be biased! :o

Glad Aiden likes the seahorse - yay for naps! Great that you were able to try it out - if only we could do that with all toys before buying! :)
