Hi all, I am gatecrashing as I haven't actually had baby yet, I am 24 weeks pregnant (hope you don't mind). I was wondering what you would recommend in terms of bedding for when our little boy arrives?
I was thinking of the sleeping bags that he could wear rather than a blanket as there is less chance of suffocation with those. But am concerned that he will not be able to kick the sleeping bag off if he gets too hot as he would a blanket.
Any advice would be great!
Thanks x
Hi
You can buy different tog sleeping bags. Noah was born in march and I used a sleeping bag almost straight away. He has been fine with it at night and starting sleeping through from 3 weeks. I put it down to not being able to kick his covers off and getting cold
I think Noah's are all 2.5 tog but I have seen 1tog sleeping bags on eBay which would be great for the summer. I have found sleeping bags a god send.

Just wondered if any of you have thought about wills since having your LOs?
My OH had a conversation with his mother last night who is "worried" about what happens to our LO in the event of our deaths. Basically, she was angling for him to say "of course you can have him". He didn't, but did say it was a good idea for us to do wills etc now. I guess that is right. The MiL did make me a bit cross though. It's all about her as usual. She isn't necessarily first choice certainly for me anyway and I know there is some sense in thinking about it, but it does make me (perhaps irrationally) cross as she just wants to have in her mind that she gets my little one if we both pop our clogs. It may be that my OH turned out ok, but I also don't agree with her parenting techniques (slapping him and his sister with slippers which she used to make them fetch for that purpose and keeping a piece of wood with a nail in by the stove which she used to threaten to hit them with when they were naughty... I veer much more towards attachment parenting myself!).Mortgage at largest: £250,000 _pale_ (March 2006)

Hi all,
Sunshine did you get anything cute for Aiden, or did you restrain yourself?!
I've had the washer on today too, all George's bits. I already can't wait til I can hang stuff outside again next year, our flats so tiny and now with G the airer is going to be up pretty much non stop.
Fairly productive morning so far though, washing done, G on his second nap, tidied round, peeled spuds for tea, finally uploaded a load of pics to my flickr account. Dinnertime for me now, then got a tesco shop coming later on.
Re sleeping bags, we've got one of the 1 tog ones which we've had him in a few nights recently. I'm undecided about it - I know alot of people like Sammie love them but if you go for one I'd deffo get a cheap one as George already has his feet stuck out the bottom of his!Newborn thread member

After 8 attempts at getting a picture on here I give up - any tips? All my photos are on Flickr, I can get the URL, and the HTML code but neither work!Newborn thread member

oh sammie i hadnt even thought about toilet seat!!! I hope you have two loos in your home....one for boys and one for you!!
katie on flickr, look at the pic you want to use. Then look at the top left, and move one button across to the right - it says "share". Click on this. You can then choose the size (medium seems about right for on here) and just copy and paste what is in the box.
The picture won't show up until you post it though, I usually hit the "preview post" to make sure it has worked.0 -

Yeah, definitely. I've been talking to the OH about wills. It's worth noting that you don't actually 'leave' your child to anyone (!), you just include a note naming a prospective guardian. All this does is give people an indication of who you wish to look after your child - this can still be disputed, and might even need a court to decide. Even without making a will you can still make known who you wish to be guardians - just tell them. We've asked my brother and SIL to be guardians and made sure the rest of the family know. I guess my husband's side of the family could contest this (they won't) in which case a court would need to decide.
All this you can do without making wills. However, it's crazy not to have a will because you'll want to set up how and when your child inherits, e.g. trust, when they can access their inheritance, who the trustees are, whether the guardians can access money in order to bring your child up, etc."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -

Hi Ladies,
Wow Sammie that was a good cleaning blitz! I did mine on Saturday, but with 3 big dogs mooching around inside all day (throwing it down again today!) the house soon gets untidy again! Just made meatballs for tea and after my sit down and brew going to hoover up.
Me and my husband have recently updated our wills and sorted out life insurance. Its a grim job and not nice thinking about bad things happening, but I think its important when you have children to be prepared.
Not been out today, me and Poppy had a lazy day together. Hope everybody else is ok.
xx
P.S Scary thought but this time in 6 weeks I'll be back at work - noooooo!!!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:
