Hello all!

Sorry to just drop in - flitting over from the pregnancy thread, as trying to think through the things we'll need for the nursery, and realised that we only have one fitted cotbed sheet in the bedding bundle we got from babies r us. How many sheets do you all have, and can anyone recommend the best place to buy some?

Also, which baby monitors do you use, as trying to make a decision on those too?

Many thanks in advance for answering my questions. Looking forward to joining you all properly in a couple of months.

Hello  Good to see you over here - this is where I *should* stay but can't resist staying on the pregnancy thread too to see how everyone is doing!..

We have four sheets, but would only really have needed two. Got them from Babies R Us (currently have a buy one get one half price deal on sheets and blankets) and John Lewis (good quality, but expensive). I think it really depends on how 'messy' your baby is, which obviously you won't know until he/she is here (we've not had any vomit so far, but have had a couple of nappy leaks), and how often you'll be doing the laundry. You'll need at least two, so that you have a spare when one's in the wash - you could always buy more later.

Monitor - we have the Tomy Digital SR325. It's OK, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it - the light for baby's room is very small and faint, the display isn't great and it needs charging fairly frequently. Plus points: it's small and easy to move round the house, it has lights that flash if baby makes any sounds (useful if you're watching TV/listening to music), and it displays the temperature in baby's room.

Thanks for all of the replies ladies. Saw that Tesco are doing 2 fitted jersey cotbed sheets for £8 in store today, but Asda are £9 for a 2-pack and seem to have better reviews. Not sure who to go with. We have a couple of clubcard vouchers to use by the end of August, so hoping we may get a double up vouchers again to spend. Has anyone had sheets from either? How did you find them?
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

I got some Clair de Lune sheets from Boots which I didn't like as they felt quite hard and not a good fit. Went to Toys R Us and theirs felt quite hard too. I eventually bought some John Lewis value range ones (3 for £15). They're quite thin but softer. Not tried one on yet as they've just been washed.

For the crib I had 4 which was plenty, I used a folded muslin under his head to catch any dribbles when he was littler. Those I got from Mamas and Papas and they felt nice, but were a teeny bit small for the mattress (despite that being M&P too!) and I had to stretch them each time to stop them bending it. :D If you request a M&P catalogue it used to come with a gift card, and they've usually got offers to get gift cards every so often, keep an eye on Hotukdeals or here.

I have the Angelcare sensor pad, and then when I decided I needed a sound monitor too, I picked up a sound only Angelcare one on Ebay which I can hook up to the pad if I want to. I don't use the sound one much, mainly if I'm in the bathroom or kitchen and he's asleep.

Hello everyone, its nice to see so many names I recognise from the pregnancy thread. I've been reading for a while but never seem to find the time to post anything.
Jake is 3 months on Wednesday, gosh where has the time gone? He's already out of the moses basket and in a cot but I couldn't bear to put him in another room so the cot is squished in next to my bed (where I can still check on him five times a night AHEM.) He's going to bed at 8pm (ish) and sleeping until 2 then waking again at 5am. I would love for him to start his big sleep later and get rid of that pesky 2am feed but he just cant manage to stay awake past 8.30 bless him. I've tried waking him at 12 and hoping he will then sleep longer in the early hours but he then wakes at 2am anyway so all I'm effectively doing is adding in another feed.
I'm using a
Summer Infant Secure Sight Digital Video Monitor as I really wanted to be able to see that he's okay when I check on him when he goes into his own room, and I already had an audio monitor "first years true choice" which I bought from Home Bargains that was great for listening in, sadly they interfered with each other. You cant have them both on at the same time (say one in the bedroom and one in the living room) so I donated the audio monitor to freecycle.
He's due his second set of jabs a week on Wednesday and I *really* dont want to take him as he had a funny reaction to the first set, he was fine about the actual injections but he went all hyperstimulated (arms and legs flailing, big eyes roaming the room, wouldn't sit/lay still etc) all that day and the next. I'm just hoping that this time he handles it a little better otherwise I'm going to be a nervous wreck by the last appointment.
Sorry for the mamoth post but I wanted to get everything down as I probably wont be able to post for another month :rotfl: I will be reading though.

I second that I'm also glad the thread is back! Woohoo!

Sexymouse - I've got Tesco sheets too, and they are absolutely fine. Charlie sleeps well on them. As for a waterproof sheet, I can highly recommend the Little Green Sheep organic one. So much better than those plastic ones (that I've also got!)

I've not yet used any blankets that I bought lol. We went from swaddleme straight to grobag.

Ro, hope all going well with relatives, chat tomorrow!

Safesound - nice to have you here! Good luck for second lot of jabs! x

Hello ladies ... I hope you dont mind me crashing but I just have a quick question.

My baby is due in around 14 weeks. We don't own a tumble dryer. Is this going to be an issue? The thing I'm mainly thinking of is towels. We just dry ours on a clothes-dog (is that was its called?!?) now but I think they overdry because they do become super rough once dry - too rough for a baby's skin!
