Hi All, LO had a lie-in this morning after a fussy night, but is now happily bouncing in her musical chair and smiling so all is lovely! DH has a half day too, so will be home with us this afternoon.
Dizziblonde, sending huge hugs your way. Just read your story and don't know what to say - it seems like they were far too busy doing what they had decided was best to give you any consideration, explanation or reassurance and that should have been key. I'm glad you've come across some nice staff now as well so you know they aren't all like that. The positive is that you have your daughter, so congratulations!
MrsManda, I've been thinking of presents. We got too many blankets - I think people decided not to buy clothes and got them instead. Usefully for baby was consumables - my SIL got us a box of cotton wool, bath stuff, wipes etc which is still being used now. For us, people who brought food were most welcome!
Hope everyone is okay. We've just got new neighbours with an 8 month old baby which is nice as they will excuse the crying! Already caused me confusion when I was in the garden hanging up washing and heard complaining then came in to discover baby was fine and the noise was from their little boy. They also have a big dog, who is lovely and friendly but our cats are not convinced!:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

Hello mrs manda !
We have enough baby hats to stretch to the moon !
Yes we did get a lot of clothing and would always say buy bigger ie even 3-6 months as we have not used all the small clothing as easier to whip them in and out of sleep suits. Yes did get teddies and flowers too.
Nicest gift from ex work colleagues from years ago was a bright starts bouncer thing which we are having to wait to use!
Bought a baby carrier (rucksack type) yesterday from factory store reduced to £7 which is suitable from 3 months and it's fab so far and hubby quite proud with it on lol
Also this https://www.mothercare.com/Bright-Starts-Take-Tiger-Toy/dp/B005OS6PBQ?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_13&nodeId=42764041&sr=1-13&qid=1334570861 is great once they notice things and hubby hums the tune at work lol
Can't think what we would have wanted other than nice food as ate rubbish/hardly anything unless my mum sorted it for us as no time!!0 -

Most of my family gave me cash or vouchers, which was much better than the gifts people gave me. I've bought lots of nice bling with them. A baby Einstein playmat, a bright stars musical swing, Ewan the sheep, a gruffalo trunki, a tummy play mat from tesco, lots of little nuby toys, a sling, rainbow muslins. I've really liked these.
When I buy baby stuff for others I always include the receipt and normally get an outfit and a voucher, but now I would buy 3-6 baby grows for practicality. I've not been keen on some of the teddy bears, bottles, blankets, outfits people bought.
Seb is really doing well on the size 2 teats, he seems to want more milk now, so I'm going to give him an extra feed.:ANeeding to save all the money, lots of MSE learning still to do

Oh - one thing that DOES occur in terms of presents - this ward's got a no flowers or plants rule on it... infection risk apparently (the used towel that's been sat in the shower for 2 days now isn't though lol).
Anyone know if any of the supermarkets stock the micro (size 0) size of Pampers? Getting to Boots is a bit of a pain and the Tesco version just doesn't quite go on as easy.
Small sort's a lot brighter today at least - her jaundice blood test levels have droped a tiny bit (wish they'd leave her heels alone for just a day or so - she's got none left to take bloods out of) so she doesn't have to go under the therapy lights again at the moment (she hates this, I hate this, anyone stuck in the same ward bay hates this) and she's more active... unfortunately this activity is her fave game of trying to pull her nose tube out so I'm thinking scratch mitts may be coming back out to play in a moment.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -

Hi again Dizzy. If you have a big Tescos near you've,i've seen the micro pampers in those x
Re pressies,i've got lots of clothes, some I really wouldn't chose personally. My neighbour, who I love to bits, gave me a little pink addidas jacket which just reminds me of something Vicky Pollard would wear:eek::rotfl:
others have given some lovely thinks but altho i'm greatful, they really havent considered the sizes and that Amelie cannot wear the pretty summer dresses for a while yet,but will be too big for them once summer is here.:happyloveBaby girl born 27/2/12:happylove

The only supermarket that I know that stock the Pampers Micro Nappies is Asda. Poppy was wearing them for 10 weeks and I never saw them anywhere else apart from Asda and Boots.:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Jacket sounds lovely Lucy!! :rotfl:
I think sometimes people don't really think about clothes and what sizes to get! I had loads of Christmas stuff bought for Poppy when she was born (Santa babygrows and vests), yet last Christmas she was still in her incubator, didn't wear clothes and only weighed 2lbs. They would probably fit her now, but putting her in Christmas clothes in April doesn't seem quite right!!:heart2: Newborn Thread Member :heart2:

Thanks for this pinkpixie
can I just ask was me of the symptoms really bad bottom wind? He gets stomach cramps too
I'm starting to think I can't cope wit his screaming and tantrums and I'm only 8weeks in.
Hi, sorry just seen this. They did have bad wind which might have been because they gulped down a lot of air when crying during feeds. I used Dr Browns and Born Free bottles (with vent systems) for my boys which helped, as did infacol. But really, solving the reflux made everything seem much easier all round. Age is also a great improver of wind, and if you keep him propped upright more this will help him with his reflux due to gravity and should also help him to clear his wind more easily. There are also some massage techniques you can use for wind, do you have a baby massage class near you? My local Sure Start centre used to run them for free when my youngest was very small and I took him to those, it helped a bit.
Good luck with it, and do persevere. I got fobbed off as a new mum with my first and didn't get any real help until he was 20 weeks old, so you are doing really well!:footie: Mummy to 2 boys - born 2009 and 2011 :footie:0
