Claire - i didn't start with blw but Poppy has never been massively keen on purees so i give her a lot of finger foods. She started refusing the spoon so hv just said let her feed herself. She doesn't eat a lot but she seems to really enjoy it and is a lot less stressful. I think next time i would definately think about blw from the start.

yeah i am breastfeeding. really strugging to find anything to drink other than water. i drank loads of milk when i was pregnant but gone off that now. Water it is i guess

Luckily I quite like water, as there's nothing else left I can drink! First thing after i'm having some nice juice tho!

Hiya Corncob. Congrats on your little girl!
If you really want to save money longterm, you should consider washable nappies. There are some good deals on mothercare at the moment and when finished you can get a good price on Ebay for them.
Also, some of the English councils give you vouchers or grants towards them. If interested, try websites like for more info. :D

I had looked into washable nappies, but I can't even keep on top of our daily washing, never mind adding nappies into the equation. I know I should make more of an effort for the money saving side of it but little bubs is a very needy baby so I'm lucky if I have my hands free for 20 mins at a time!

Just seen your comment about nappies Wonder Womble. We use Pampers Baby Dry at night and it never leaks despite him wearing it for 12ish hours. Even if he does wake for a feed in the night I don't change him anymore as the baby dry are fine. He has newborn nappies during the day. Have no words of advice about how you are feeling but just wanted to say I am thinking of you xx

Thanks for the advice, I'll get some of them and see how we go

Ellie will be 2 weeks old tomorrow and all she seems to do is sleep! Is that normal? She has been asleep since 2.30 and it is 4.45 now i expect she will wake for a feed soon then she will go back to sleep for another 4 hours!

I think all babies are different jenjade. DS2 and DS3 didn't/don't sleep much during the day. Little cat naps really. But I can't really complain seeing as though Jacob sleeps through most nights. Ellie is still only very little isn't she - probably still recovering from the birth!
