got a couple of questions and dont know where to find the answers.
how do i get the hospital to investigate why none of the scans in pregnancy identified Ellies heart condition? it should have been noticeable in the scans.
second question is
can i get my paid mat leave extended? if Ellie had been ill when i was back at work i would have got paid compassionate leave so can i claim anything now? I feel hard done by today lost over 20 days with my baby and she needs me home for longer now i feel to fix our bond which has been severed by not being able to stay with her in intesive care etc

 just got hit by a giant poo jet nooooooooooooooooooo
Had to completely change, serves me right for not bothering to put the poo apron on this time.
Maybe the idea of going back to work isn't so bad after all....0 -
Jenjade every health authority works differently unfortunately and what I am suggesting for you to try is what I would advise a patient here to do, but may not be accurate for your area. To get the answers you want I think that you may need to lodge a formal complaint. If you are able to it would be worth contacting the maternity hospital and asking for a written copy of their complaints procedure, which should contain information on what steps you need to follow. I usually advise people to contact the PALS service within the hospital as I think they are amazing and provide a great level of help and support.0

Hello all you mummies!
Just butting in for a minute to ask a question about car seats (felt a bit shy about posting a whole new thread so thought I'd see if I got any answers on here first!)
Most of you have probably shopped fairly recently for a from-birth car seat, so I'd like some pearls of wisdom...
We need a maxi-cosi car seat, as it is compatible with our pram chassis (Petite Star Kurvi). I'm currently trying to work out what will be best for us, given the following:
- I know the dangers of keeping a baby in a car seat for too long at a time, therefore I'm not planning to use the car seat/pram as a "travel system" as such, very often. However I figured it might be useful sometimes, hence buying a car seat that fits on the pram.
- Because I'm not planning to use it as a travel system all that much, is it necessary to buy a base for the car seat? How much inconvenience will it really be to strap it in each time?
- Our car doesn't have Isofix. I know you can get the EasyBase units which strap into the car, though. Can't decide if it's worth spending the extra money to get one.
- I can't see much difference (apart from cost!) between the Cabriofix and the Pebble. Any thoughts?
- Or there's the Maxi Cosi Citi, which seems just as good, but it isn't compatible with any bases. It's a bit cheaper than the Cabriofix, which makes me think we should just get that if we're not going to get a base anyway. But is it worth getting the Cabriofix/Pebble just so we've got the option to buy a base later if we want one?
Sorry - so many questions!
Grateful for any of your thoughts advice, having been there, done that so recently!

Hi BB, I'm lurking here too and thought I'd add my own opinion, obviously haven't tried out my purchases yet though! I got the maxicosi cabrio fix as I'd read that its meant to be the safest carseat on the market. I have got the family-fix base to go with it, firstly becuase isofix is the safest way to fasten a car seat into the car, and secondly because the family-fix base fits the next stage carseat too 9but is slightly more expensive than the one that first the first stage seat only). I won't be using the carseat on the pram at all (it won't fir but I didn't want it to anyway) but I do expect to be taking it in and out of the car regularly as if baby has only been in it a short time and is asleep when we get home then I'll take them inside in the seat rather than lifting them out and risking waking them up. For this reason, plus the additional safety offered by isofix I would not want to use a seat that fastened in by the seatbelt only.0

Hi BB1984,
I have the kurvi and the car seat that came with it is fab, Only takes a minute to strap in and def feels secure and safe for Baby jessica.
We, before baby was born considered buying a diff car seat but are now glad we held off as baby is very happy with the one that came with travel system.
Hope everyone well, I'm having a sofa day, doing nothing but dealing with Jess and lounging on couch.

More gorgeous baby pics, thanks guys!
Been to pram group this morning. She spent the time just staring around at the other babies and toddlers fascinated! Now flaked out after all that exertion :rotfl:
BB1984 - I have a maxicosi cabriofix but not got the base as yet. I have been thinking about it as it will take the seats for when she is older, but I have a fairly old car and not sure if it will take the fixings. The seatbelt method is fairly secure and I don't do that much driving with her. The maxicosi does fit on our pram but I haven't used it that way as I can get the carrycot easily in the boot and that's better for her to lie in especially at only 8 weeks. I do occasionally carry her in the car seat but not for long.
Bluebell - I think you're on the facebook group? There's a list of the first weaning foods on one of the docs. From memory definitely carrots on there and they are fairly easy to grow. Good luck with the allotment, that sounds like fun!:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls

I think I made this work! (Apologies if they are massive).
Naomi this week. Couldn't resist taking pictures of her in the cute pramsuit with ears. I'm sure she'll love those photos when she's a teen!:heartpuls Daughter born January 2012 :heartpuls Son born February 2014 :heartpuls
