Sooooo, as he already pooed this morning, I thought it would be a good day to finally crack on and try the reusable nappies. Number one went ok, then ten minutes after putting the second on... whoosh! I'm not sure if I just didn't do it up tightly enough, but there was more poo in his trousers than in the nappy. :D I've very optimistically put number 3 on, surely there can't be any more in there? :D The paper liners seem to bunch up and stick to him, wondering whether to add a microfibe booster I've got lying around instead/as well? I don't really know what i'm doing, so guess i'll just keep experimenting. :D

Oh, he's still doing the 'wake as soon as put down' thing, he must sleep eventually? :D

Daddy is currently dealing with a very grumpy girl who has been refusing to nap all day, so I'm not having to bother with keeping her awake. She's getting the idea of sleeping at night and being awake in the day but trying too hard!

Last night we had a 7 hour run followed by nearly 4, so all overslept! Never thought that would happen again and was very grateful we had only made vague plans to be out which was not a problem. Unfortunately I woke up about 5.5 hours into her long sleep and had to express some milk so I could get comfy enough to get back to sleep myself :(

Ro, it really sounds like you are falling apart! Hope you start to get some of those problems sorted. I haven't even washed the new clothes yet and most are too big for her but I'm sure we'll take photos, especially at the weddings.

You guys have really scared me with picking nurseries! I haven't even thought about that. I'm planning to be off until SMP runs out in September, but I really hope we can find a way for me to stay home longer even though that is probably only if pigs find ways of flying. For many reasons I really don't want to go back to my current job, that is absolutely worst case scenario!

Sorry to scare you!! Our hv warned me all the nurseries round here were already full through to end of yearwhich scared me..... luckily i am going for one near work not near home, so they had places. Its worth checking out the situation in your area so you don't get stuck if you can't stay off work. look at Ofsted to see where there are good ones near you.

Oh, on the looking round front, we've had to invest in some dangly toys, and he likes trying to hit them so they make a noise. He will lie on his mat for a while looking at them, as long as i'm near and set the noisy ones off occasionally, and preferably sing along. :D He's not keen on front time on the mat though, even though he's always had a strong neck and will come up right off my front and stare around. I guess you can see more when lying on someone. :D

I did manage to cook 3 meals yesterday! Only because lanky teen was around to talk to him if he got stroppy while I did it, but he sat in the pram fairly happily for a bit. Today is a different matter. :D

Same here. The ones around here get booked up pretty quickly. I was even told some have long waiting lists!
Fortunately for me, a very good friend had her daughter at the one Charlie is goung to, so have a great recommendation and first hand knowledge of it.

Hi Mozzy glad your stitches are healing, I had the same problem could not sit down either which messed up feeding. As for the lactulose at least it works lol!
Good luck with trying a different formula, sounds as though him being a grumpy moo and refusing to sleep is making him more grumpy too. Wish I could wave some sleepy dust over him, Scott was so much better in mood when he got a bit more sleep in the day, really feel for you. With the winding you said he screams when u do it, does anything actually come up or go down so to speak ?
Re the tears hope it is just the stress, if not then don't be afraid to get help. I do tell myself that the tiredness etc is just for now and not forever. Does make me a bit sad that me and hubby are ships that pass, but there is no way I could cope without going to bed by 9 pm with the night feeding.

    Hi Ro
Thanks hun. He doesn't really burp up much, only a bit. But he does have alot of wind, which we use infacol for. I think he's just a fussy needy baby. Very strong willed!
    How is Scott today? x

    Hi Ladies,

Hope all are OK and had a nice Sunday. I'm feeling quite grumpy today and me and hubby have had an argument so he's gone off out on his bike! We'll make up when he gets back, think we are both tired and feeling grumpy!

We went out and bought a new car today which is being delivered at the end of March so that's exciting!

Talking about going back to work and child care (dreading going back!) I'm not going back until November and I've reduced my hours to 3 days a week and only term time so not to bad. I've got a child minder that I'm using for Poppy, she is the wife of somebody I work with and is lovely so I feel quite happy about that.

Just wondering what everybody's dressing routing is for their LO's? I dress Poppy in a day outfit (leggings, or dresses and tights) in the morning and then she has a bath every night at 8.00pm and after that I put her in a babygrow for bed. I don't really like bathing her every night but they did in special care and the one night at home she wasn't bathed she just didn't settle.

We are off for a hearing check tomorrow, Poppy didn't have a clear response at the hospital for the first check for either ear. The appointment is 2 hours long and the letter says baby should be settled and not crying - gonna be a fun morning!!

I was having problems with CJ having bad trapped bottom wind, and not giving up her burps either, causing her discomfort. In desperation i got some Mommys Bliss gripe water. I cant be 100% sure that it was the gripe water that has helped, but since i've been using it, she is burping alot more easily (by herself sometimes!), and passing parps like anything and is alot less fussy and struggles less with it all. I would definately say it is worth a try.

I don't think Charlie has got colic, but he is always crying and needs constant feeding, holding, rocking etc. Otherwise if I just put him down, he'll start screaming and crying. Very demanding! . x

Mozzy, your LO is only 3 weeks old? My LO was like this to begin with and someone posted for me to look up the 4th Trimester. It explained that some LOs are so shocked when they come out of the womb that they have a 4th Trimester where they need to still feel close to mummy, therefore need lots of cuddles, rocking, holding etc. It really helped my understand my LO and after I changed my perspective and approach (I became less stressed and worried about how much cuddling she needed) she soon became much more settled and content.

Hmm, does anyone know if it actually works to keep a baby awake in the day so that their body clock goes the opposite way around? Harry is awake from 11 - 3 falls asleep for an hour and then wakes up for a feed at 4. I don't want to end up with a really grizzly baby though because I've kept him awake in the day to try and get him to sleep in the night and it end up not working.

What do you do to keep her awake? Harry's 7 weeks old. Is he too young to be kept awake? He was 8 weeks prem, but he looks around and stuff like that. He takes things in, but when I try and play with him I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere. He kinda just stares.

Out LO had her body clock mixed up when born and we spent the first 2 weeks of her life changing it around. As well as keeping LO awake during the day, it is important to encourage them to sleep at night. So at the time our LO would only sleep at night if she slept on one of us, so we took it in turns to stay up and let her sleep on us. This resulted in her being more amenable to being awake during the day. At 7 weeks he will just stare, but it won't be long before you get more back from him. Try singing short songs, play with a variety of toys, carry him around and talk to him about absolutely anything, (I take LO in the kitchen and talk to her about chopping onions), look out of the windows and talk about what you see, don't creep around the house being quiet if he falls asleep, just go about your business as you usually would. Even if you are just disturbing his sleep it will make a difference. Be careful though as he will still need some sleep during the day and you don't want him to get over tired and grumpy

    Hello all

Glad to hear that Ellie getting on ok at home.

Mozzy- what too do with em eh? Ackward monkeys ! This one was ok but in the afternoon one visitor unplanned and a long phone call later and routine out the window! We are trying to get him to sleep when we can and always around 3-4 pm ish but visitor came so he was grumpy without his nap. Did go for a walk with pram and hubby to shops but back bad again ((sigh))
Let me know how u go when u want to as I know u are tired, bless him with his burping, Scott gets v upset if it doesn't come out xxx

Ww- great info and tips love reading them

Crabapple - yeah falling apart !! Lol how are u getting on?

Jannine- hugs for hearing check today, u are very good with the changing/bathing routine, Scott is in sleep suits all the time as easier but bathing him we do when we want to, going to give him one today but just been using plain water worried about upsetting his skin.

Aimless- well done for giving reusables ago, I am now guiltily waiting until spring !

LO does like his pram toy thingy, have to say we love the music as much as him! Will post which one it is, u can tie it to buggies, car seat too. Best money spent so far! If u chatter away to Scott he is paying attention, if you say gooo slowly to him he will repeat when he is in the mood but he is very young so does not do it all the time!!! He smiles when he has done it which is v cute lol

That will do for posting for now !!

    Ro xx
