    Hi everyone :)

I'm moving over from the pregnancy thread after having Ava on Friday :) She's totally wonderful and i can't stop looking at her.

I had a quick question though if anyone has any thoughts...MW came yesterday and said i need to up her feeds (booby juice) to every 2-2.5 hours daily and 3-4 night. This worked good all day yesterday but last night she just wanted the boob ALL the time, she went from one to the other and just wouldn't settle. All the signs seem to be good, she's latching well, taking deep swallows and puffing her cheeks out so I'm assuming she's taking a good feed. I just don't feel very supported in doing this, i can see why people give up and i really don't want to especially as i'm so close to my real milk supply coming in. If anyone can offer any advice i'd really appreciate it.

    thanks in advance!

Congratulations! Elliot was quite sleepy for the first day and then wanted to feed almost constantly for a few days after that, it does get easier! Though at 7 weeks he still cluster feeds morning and evening, guess he's just stocking up for the day/night...

Major poo-splosion yesterday but it was DH's turn for nappy duty :D He had to clean right up to the armpits. I'm glad Elliot poos daily - if he went several days in between like some of you were getting, he'd nearly fill the house with poo :rotfl:

I went into work this morning to organise what I'm going to be doing next Monday, Elliot got lots of cuddles from my colleagues and was fast asleep the whole time, I don't think they believe me that he's normally fairly awake, as he did that last time I took him in! 6 days of maternity leave left...

I would second the advice about keeping an eye on the nappies (you can tell if dehydrated and colour etc of poo indicates how they are too), baby week by week book is good for guidance on all things baby.
Scott lost too much at day five weigh in and we ended up combination feeding( bf and ff). I would say that no amount of booby can be too much ! Also I had epidural etc so my milk coming in was late so if you did have a lot of drugs something to be aware of. We have local bf support ask your midwife etc if you want support with bf. I still combination feeding now.

Mozzy- you don't have a lot to learn its LO ;) needs to know who's boss, have to say am failing miserably in that dept today :o have u got that baby week by week book? It does explain what the monkey is up to as they change. Dylan is in the kitchen as he was getting Barky at the pigeons on the front lawn:eek: very dif when LO wants to nap and gets an ear full  how did you get on today and what about the swaddling? Scott hates being wrapped up lol likes to kick his legs like mummy except daddy likes to be wrapped up so tight it's ridiculous... Watched one born, I must be mad!

Congrats darkphaery! It is wonderful finally having them out so you can meet the little person you made! It's quite possible that as your milk hasn't come in yet she's trying to get it flowing - the more they feed the more you produce. Keep an eye out for the wet nappies like the others have said, and expect that there will be some weight loss. Good luck.

Hi Ro - we're doing good. Went out today to the arboretum, thought we would show her some trees and one of mummy and daddy's favourite places. She slept right through the journey, all the way round our walk, and all the way home again. Only woke up when we went to the HV clinic on the way home and we had to take her clothes off! I may have overdone the walking though as I seem to have lots of achy bits now :(

Anyway, apparently she has dropped slightly below the 25th centile but the HV wasn't concerned as she is still putting weight on nicely. Up to 9lb 12oz at just over 8 weeks- such a dinky little thing. Takes after her father!!

One of the cats has just been sick in my slipper. Sometimes I do not know why we give them free board and lodging! Got to love it though, DH has just cleaned it up with one hand while carrying baby in the other, and I'm sitting on my backside doing nothing :)

Congratulations darkphaery and welcome! Lots of friendly ladies on here and a great place for advice or just to let of steam (which I'm about to do with some tears thrown in!)

Just back from Poppy's hearing test and apparently she has a hearing loss in her left ear, her right ear is fine. The audiologist has referred us to the ENT Consultant to decide what to do next. Feel so devastated now, just seems to be one problem after the next and it seems so unfair. What has Poppy done to deserve such a crappy start to her life? I wish so much that I could take her problems and have her healthy like she should be.

Also got her letter to see the Cardiologist in 2 weeks time and I know they are going to set the date for her heart operation The thought of going back to hospital is horrible and we will have to travel to Liverpool for the operation.

Feeling really down tonight and sat here crying. :(

    Congratulations Darkphaery!!!

Jenjade, how are you getting on with having Ellie home? I bet it's lovely! Harry is only 7 weeks old but was born at 3lb 11oz and is now 6lb 11oz. I'm sure she will put on weight in no time! She will probably thrive now that she's home with you.

Jannine, sorry to hear about the hearing test. Hopefully it won't be anything major though, and if Poppy does have some hearing loss (sometimes they get it wrong!) then she will be able to use her other senses to compensate? Sorry, I don't really know what to say to make you feel better. But in a years time you will probably be looking back at all this thinking 'Phew I'm glad that's over'. Hope you're okay x

Hello all will post proper later.

Jannine - (((big hugs))) so sorry that poppy has problems with one ear. I understand that things are so upsetting for you but you do your utmost best for her. It must be so frustrating but poppy has one good ear and hopefully they can help with the other but understand with everything else that it is one more thing. Babies are such a worry and I don't think u appreciate how much until you have one. Hopefully the obstacles she has will be overcome as quickly as possible and you can relax a bit. We are waiting for the appt for Scott's heart to be checked so although we are not in your situation I still have the niggly worries too and think why him. But ultimately he is happy and can only say that I refuse to miss enjoying him when he is feeling good. I am sure poppy will come through all this and when she is a (stroppy) teenager these difficult times will be consigned to history. I hope it helps coming on here and getting off your chest as I think it really helps and we are all riding the big wave of parenthood but sooner or later calmer water is ahead

Hello ladies :) baby Flynn is 9 days old now!!
I know I should be an old hand at this after 3 girls having had the dairy intolerance, but, Flynn was put onto SMA 1st milk at birth in hosp as my Dr refused to prescribe hypoallergenic formula even with the proven family history of intolerance. In hospital he didnt hold down any of the milk at all. Came home and I put him onto SMA lactofree milk (got a few tins when i was preg just incase) and the sickeness stopped and all was going well, until fri. He didnt poo all day, or Saturday, so I got some Aptamil comfort, hoping he would be able to handle the reduced lactose in it. He started that yesterday morning. Had a huge poo last night....and hasnt stopped since! He went 4 times in 2 hours this evening, which is alot for him. He has also projectile vomited again a few times today. I`ve tonight put him back on the lactofree stuff as he obviously cant tolerate the dairy, but am now expecting the constipation to come back :( Going to go to the Dr 2moro, will demand an app with someone and just hope they agree to give him the hypoallergenic stuff! Not sure what to do really if they dont agree to it :(
Flynn is still only on 1oz every 3 hours too atm. And being a big boy at 8lb14oz, he should be on more!
Hope everyone and their babies are well tonight xx

Hello everybody hope you are all doing well :D

Jenjade my LO was 7lb 14oz at birth (37 weeks) and was 14lb 7oz at 12 weeks.

Jannine sorry if this comes across badly or seems patronising as it is certainly not meant to be. :o Impaired hearing in one ear although not in any way good may not be as restrictive as you are possibly picturing. My dad has been deaf in his left ear lifelong but very few people are or have ever actually been aware of it. It never held him back in any way at all and he has led a full and happy life including a successful career as a chef in noisy industrial kitchens. I dont know if this is because he had never known life any different so he just got on with what he had. My parents were apparently married for almost 3 years before my mum actually noticed! :) She only noticed because sometimes he didnt answer her when they were out in the car and wanted to know why she was being ignored :o They both laugh about this now 40 years on.

I am beginning to find the constant food refusal difficult to deal with. I think I have tried everything possible but am totally open to suggestions as I am getting annoyed at our HV who is actually lovely every time she tells me to just keep trying. Five months of trying with only one meal being eaten in that time is seriously testing my endurance :(
