Similar here, though he will nap, but usually only on someone. As soon as he's put down he normally starts wailing and wanting more food. He did sleep for a couple of hours on our bed this morning though, so will try that again tomorrow!

Have you got anything nice planned for the wedding anniversary Kira? Ours is the same day as yours, can't believe how fast 2 years has gone :) I think we're just going to have a takeaway dinner...

Bluebell, no, nothing planned that i know of. I've been chatting to the owner of a little casual caribbean restaurant that is on one of my pram walk routes, and he said he will do me a takeaway to finish off at home if i want- jerk chicken and pork, rice and peas and plaintain. Thought it might be a nice idea as we went to Jamaica on our honeymoon. I cant believe it is 2 years either. Its flown by!
Nice that we both have the same anniversary!:)

And thus it was told, for 4 days and nights there was grunting and grizzling... and on the 5th day there came to pass, a great poonami....

Oh my word! Poor little monkey, no wonder she has been grunting and fussing and waking her herself up crying in the mornings. She looked so tired before lunch, and wanted to feed but kept pulling off and crying. Was giving her "nappy" signal. So took her upstairs, opened the nappy, lifted her legs to remove the nappy, when she let out a few stinky parps. I closed the nappy as this often means a wee coming, then opened it to see the first of a stream of brown mr whippy. Caught it with kitchen roll, then another came, and another, and another, and another, and another.... I cannot believe how much came out of that little belly.

I'm so glad she doesnt like having a dirty nappy and let me know, so that that didnt all come out in a nappy, so i could get rid as it happened. There is no way one nappy would have contained it all, it would have been EVERYWHERE!
    Bless her.

Amazingly, i actually managed to get her down in her crib for a proper nap for the first time every at lunchtime after the poonami. She has been down for an hour, its BLISS to have a bit of time to myself. I'm going to try and make this routine..

Had a decent night last night. She went down a little later than normal as she was fussing over her belly (i know why now!), at around 8pm, and slept for 6 hours, then woke up had clean nappy, gripe water and a feed, and went down for another 3 hours, then another feed, and down for another 3 lying across my belly with her legs dangling over the side to relieve her belly. Miracle!

    Hello all

Jenjade- hope Ellie is more comfortable xx

Gilly- hope u get the milk prescribed if it helps ur LO

Mozzy- hello sorry u are struggling with LO does oh give ua break from LO in the evening?

Bluebell & kira happy anniversary !

Jannine - poor poppy and mummy. Think if it was me would go back another day and see a dif Gp as that was complete pants...

Fist sucking - Scott has to be au contrare he fist sucked a lot the first week he was born (the week he lost weight) once he was getting both breast and formula it stopped so god knows!! He only does it very occasionally.

Making up bottles- we were doing it wrong to start with re water temp, I am naughty/realistic (u decide!!) and make up feeds in advance with boiling water (can't be bothered to wait until drops to 70 degrees after half hour) I mix in powder and cool bottles quickly then refrigerate. I warm bottles up in a jug of hot water.

    Before I lose my post...

It was so stupid was changing Scott and boiling kettle in 2nd bedroom. I noticed a spot of poop so reached for cottonwool over the kettle :eek:Had to wake hubby up at 3am, will take up a thermos flask tonite as its only for warming the bottle up... A few weeks ago nearly sliced my finger off, the tiredness is dangerous!!!!!

Sounds lovely :) We've got a Jamaican cook book and some of the recipes are really delicious!

We went to Robin Hoods Bay for our honeymoon so I guess that means we should be having fish and chips ;)

Just a question I know that guidance is to make up feeds as u go along but if u do that surely there will be more air in the bottle for LO to swallow because you have to shake to mix it. If done in advance surely less air or am I nutty?! Don't shoot me as I know making up bottles is as controversial as good old cliff...:p

Thanks Ro. Yep, i've been willing the poonami to happen! Bizzare isnt it! First thing i did was call DH and let him know!
No wonder she has gone down for a proper sleep. Hopefully she will be a happy monkey now. The long walks are knackering, but worth it for some peace. The walk i did on +3 days from the birth was painful! Felt like my insides were falling out. Lord knows what the neighbours thought of my hobby shuffle!

Ouchy on the burn. Make sure you keep it nice and sterile. Hope Scott carries on taking boobie. I confess i had to LOL when i read about the boob monster! I got mine out for LO today, when she was in her seat, and she just looked at it and started to grin inanely!

Bluebell, nowt wrong with good Fish and chips! I really wanted it during my final tri, much more than pizza, or any other junk.

    Kira,
How I laughed at your poo post, I could have written that! Poppy goes days without pooing and then poo's for England! She always waits until her nappy is off and I have her legs bend and then out it comes! The nurses said the pressure on their tums from having their legs in the air makes them poo!!

I'm also mega jealous that your little lady sleeps for 6 hours!! Poppy only sleeps for 2.5 at the most. When she was in hospital she was fed every 2.5 hours so she is in that routine now and I'm trying to break it but its proving to be very difficult! I could set my watch on her waking up. Hoping she starts to sleep for longer soon as I'm knackered now!! She is upset today and will only settle on my chest so I don't know how I'm going to get any jobs done or make tea!

I know, i'm very lucky with the sleeping now. Shame its usually from 6.30pm though, as morning at Midnight isnt so good!
I think it is down to her size, easily 13 pounds now, so her stomach is large enough to do a good cluster feed and keep her going longer. Poppy only has a wee tummy still, so she is doing well to go a few hours i guess. It will get better as she grows! I think you are doing brilliantly.

Very true about tummy sizes, Poppy's is still quite small so its little and often - guess I'm going to have to get use to feeling tired! My poor hubby who is back at work is taking some supplement to get him through the day (not sure what, think its got lots of caffeine in it!) I've said I don't mind him sleeping in the spare room, but he doesn't want to be away from us - bless him!

Anyway going to attempt to move Poppy into her basket so I can get some jobs done.

    Have a good evening all.
    xx
