Hey all,

I have been home since Friday night. been to visit today but Ellie is still sedated pretty much.

I have to say breastfeeding has saved me. Ellie needs my milk as it is what is best for her and easier for her to digest. also good for her immune system which she needs. So i have had to eat and sleep to give her the best milk even when i didnt feel like it. If i had not bee breastfeeding i really wont have rested or eaten over the last 2 weeks

As far as we know her operation went to plan. They told us at the end of last week that she has an extra vein from her neck down to her heart and 5 holes in her heart ;-( poor baby

Intensive care is horrid i cant stay with her at night so just visiting and she is completely knocked out. Saturday her oxygen was reduced and her chest drains were removed. she was also given some milk.


Sunday i visited and she had physio to get rid of fluid on her chest was not really pleasant to watch but for the best. she also had a tube that went to her kidneys removed and a bed bath to freshen her up.

Tomorrow i am visiting while DD is at school then we are hoping she will be back on the ward where i can stay Tuesday however they think she has an infection so have started antibiotic so things could get worse.

Thanks for all the wishes and support the internet has been a lifeline!

Hope all your babies are doing well i hate being home without mine. Had to put the moses basket somewhere else as i kept waking up and looking for her it was horrid. Last night i woke up and didnt know where i was at all

oh also mums that are just breastfeeding with no formula how often do your babies poo?? They keep giving Ellie lactlose to make her poo but she usually only goes every 5 days anyway. DD1 was the same so i assumed that was normal she never gets pains and it isnt hard or anything just not very often

if we hold Ellie like this (she tries to make us hold her like this all the time) her oxygen levels got to 100%

Jen. Fingers crossed things continue to get better for her, and she makes a speedy recovery.

Must be so hard being away from your beautiful girl but hopefully she'll be home again with you soon.
