right okay silly question time. now what do i do with it? I guess freeze it. In a bottle?? my tommee tippee bottles done have lid things freezing the teat seems like a bad idea!

I've bought some breast milk freezer bags that you can express directly into with the Medela. But i also read one idea is to sterilise an icecube tray, and put the milk in that, and then once frozen, portion the cubes into separate freezer bags of a few oz each, which are then ready to defrost at your leisure!

i fount it much easier to store it in the breast bags for the freezer as you can store it for ages and use the bottles as and when you want to, especially when you start weaning you can just get some out to mix the porridge/rice etc up with. x

  • watched the Happiest Baby on the Block DVD last night and tried the swaddling with shhing/white noise (app on my phone with white noise- left phone in moses basket) which worked really well to calm her down. I got 4 hours followed by 3 hours sleep last night so can't complain, plus we got up at 8.15 which was nice! Would like her to settle before midnight really, but suppose it could be worse.

I got the book and the CD for Christmas and it is really interesting. I think the techniques definitely work although we are not using swaddling as LO likes her arms free.

WW i had depression for yrs before i had DD3, as my mum died when i was 18 and i just didnt deal with it at the time. It wasnt until i had Lily that it all hit me like a ton of bricks and i finally allowed the dr to give me the antidepressants she had been trying to get me to take for 5 yrs! I so badly didnt want to take them, but after a few weeks was so glad i did. This time, the second i start to feel like it again (hopefully i wont!) I wont hesitate to ask for help. i`m not saying u need them of course lol, but just dont let urself get to the point where u really need help, good luck when u have a chat to ur health visitor hun xxx

Glad if it helped even in a teeeny way. I reread the bit in the book again last night for you, and it said 4-5 weeks is common, right up to 4-5 months, but that you are more likely to feel blue earlier, if you have had depression of any kind before, so while the HV is supposed to do a PND questionnaire at about 9 weeks, thats a long time away for you, and there is no point in unnecessarily feeling bad for longer than you need to, so get in there early, as there is lots they can do, and help you get it resolved quickly before it has time to bed in... :) Big hugs. xx

Thanks for the comments and advice (including those I haven't quoted). HV is referring me to the Post Natal Team for support. It really is getting on top of me at times, I'm sick of crying now and just want to enjoy my baby. I see my GP again in a week and I think I am going to ask to go back on medication as I feel as though I can't relax and appreciate having LO. Jen I know what you mean about feeling overwhelmed!

I know some people are saying their babies are sleeping though the night and I'm just wondering what you do about changing nappies? My LO needs changing every 3-4 hours otherwise she leaks. I've tried Huggies and Pampers and both are the same. Last night I changed her at 9 and at 1am I was lying in bed debating waking her up to change her or whether to chance it and hope she didn't leak. I erred on the side of caution and decided to change her, and the of course had to feed and wind. Sod's Law her nappy was virtually dry. If I had left it she would have soaked thought and I would have had to change her and the crib.

Evening all. Thanks for the email jenjade. Good night with Jacob again yey. We had a lovely day at our local soft play. He was as good as gold while the other 2 played. I don't know if I mentioned this but he failed his hearing test in one ear. The first time the health visitor didn't get a 'clear response' and then the second time it kept flashing up something about probe placement. But because of stupid rules, she can't now try again so have to have a proper hearing technician come out. It's crazy - there is nothing wrong with his hearing whatsoever. Now they have to come out and put probes on his head poor little mite. They want him sleepy while they are doing it - that's not going to happen lol! He's too nosy and doesn't sleep much during the day

Just seen your comment about nappies Wonder Womble. We use Pampers Baby Dry at night and it never leaks despite him wearing it for 12ish hours. Even if he does wake for a feed in the night I don't change him anymore as the baby dry are fine. He has newborn nappies during the day. Have no words of advice about how you are feeling but just wanted to say I am thinking of you xx

Glad u have spoken to someone and the ball is rolling for making u feel better WW xx
Have u tried using the next size up for night time nappy?! Or, get one of those Pampers bet sheets, i`m not sure what they r called, but they r basically for kids that wet the bed, if u lay one under babe, then at least u`ll only have to change her and not all of the bedding if she does leak. xx

ww- what size nappies are you using? how heavy is your little one? may be worth trying a bigger size at night they are more absorbent.

we are struggling with trapped wind tonight. she is not happy
