May i join the group? Jacob was born 23.06.11 and so is six months. :-) we use real nappies (lolipop brand) am breasrfeeding on demand and have started baby led weaning.

All is going wel apart from the sleepless nights! Has anyone experiance of letting them cry it out?

P.s. Most councils stopped the incentives for cloth nappies last april - i just missed out!

    hey all,

Darling daughter one is back at school and baby Ellie is asleep on the sofa!! This is going far to well!

TMI ALERT- i didnt have a tear or anything after having Ellie. No idea how i got away with that. the bleeding was mild i used maternity pads for 3 days then normal sanitary towels. i had no bleeding at all monday or tuesday or this week then weds has some mild bleeding. Weds evening i had 3 large gushes of blood. Should i phone the midwife? It seems to have gone back to light bleeding again now. the gushes were quite big! red blood.

Right off to try and fix the fence pannels that blew down in the wind last night!

okay i have a breastfeeding question.

Baby Ellie is 11 days old today on Weds i need to go back to uni. She will be with her dad for that day. I have been breastfeeding but she will need at least one bottle while i am at uni. (i only go once a week and will be leaving her from 9am until 4pm!) I am really worried about doing it.

Also how do i do it? I dont want my body producing loads of extra milk. should i express a bit after she has fed? How is it best to do things?
should i give her some in a bottle before weds?

    HELP i feel clueless!

  • Don't worry about gushes jenjade. Think you only have to worry about clots and smelly discharge. Sorry if tmi! Especially if bf-ing, it can come and go like that for weeks. Did for me anyway.
I wouldn't worry about producing too much milk by expressing. Baby will have growth spurts every few weeks so you will only be helping by upping your milk supply in advance. See when suits you best to express. Maybe try expressing the other breast as you want the bottle to contain both fore and hind milk. If you only express after the breast has been part emptied, you will only get hind milk. Have a wee ezpriment and see what works for you. And maybe try and have 2 bottles not 1 ready as 9-4pm is quite a gap! And if you gets lots of milk separate it into different bottles so you don't waste any. Better to have 2 x 3oz bottles than heat up a 6oz bottle and have to throw away what doesn't get drunk :-)
And definitely try her with the bottle in advance, just in case!

  • Hi all,
Nice shiny new thread for pregnancy club emigrees - I like it. I found the parents club slow going and random so nice to see everyone again here where it's a bit more topical.
Bubs is 10 weeks yesterday and coming on a treat. He is well chunky already though!
We've had to formula feed which was going great until recently. For some reason, some of his bottles he is unable to take and is getting really frustrated, angry and upset, screaming and refusing to take anymore. We''re totally confused as it's only some, not all!

Basscadette what bottles are you using? We used Tommee Tippee and they come with size 1 teats so when baby is really hungry it doesn't come out fast enough as they get bigger. We moved on to variflow teats so she can control how fast the milk comes out herself and has been much more successful.

I graduated pregnancy thread in July by the way, Lily is 5 months now and growing beautifully!

it can stay in the fridge up to 5 days not on the door of th fridge though. you can buy freezer bags for breast milk or little pots with lids but think they only hold 2 oz
