i am doing okay. Ellie doing well means i can cope. if she was unwell i would have fallen apart. I think i will fall apart after the op:j Proud mum to Jade age 10 years and Baby Ellie born Christmas Day:eek: with a broke heart
Proven to be a little fighter and battling on with her heart condition :j

You have coped in a totally amazing way so far and have lots of people here who are filled with admiration for you.
If things get too overwhelming afterwards please dont forget that there are lots of us here who are rooting for Ellie, yourself, Jade, and your partner who may not be any actual help to you but will be more than happy to be a sounding board for the many emotions and stresses that you will probably experience afterwards.

Bit of an odd question here. We have a maxi cosi I think pebble car seat (the one with the circular head hugger if that helps) that our daughter is too large for as her head is right at the very top of the back. I really need a car seat for her due to the amount of hospital appointments we are currently attending but as she is only 8 months old she is still too young to consider the next stage car seat. I am looking for any suggestions for a more suitable seat for her as I do not want to risk her safety in something that is too small for her.
This is totally new for me as both of my boys were pre term and so were tiny and fitted in their seats even after it was time to move to the next stage!0 -
Wow I didn't realise this thread existed. I hope you don't mind if I join in?
About my son;
Thomas was born on August 7th 2011 (same birthday as my oh) 3 days overdue after a very long and rough pregnancy. My waters broke pre prematurely at 14 weeks. I was told he wouldn't survive and if I got past the miscarriage stage I would need to prepare myself for a stillbirth.
Amazingly Thomas continued to grow and at 24 weeks my waters revealed though I continued to suffer with oligohydraminos (low fluid). They wanted to induce me at 34, then 36, then 38 weeks but I refused. My scans were normal, he was growing on target and moving normally.
He was due on August 4th and on the 3rd (39+6) I started losing my plug and getting contractions. Finally after a very long 3 days I gave birth to a healthy 6lbs 8.5oz baby boy who had barely and hair and 3 thumbs.
He had a bit of a rough start. He had a blood infection at 2 weeks old and we weren't sure if he'd survive. Thankfully he pulled through. He had an op in November to remove the extra thumb and at the same time realised he needed splints on his ear because it had not formed properly. They were removed in January this year.
The poor mite then had to deal with a nasty hand infection where he had the op. He has an umbilical hernia, a sacral dimple (which thank god they can see the bottom of so no worries of spina bifida) and we are waiting to see an eye specialist as both his eyes turn.
He will need another op when he's about one as on the hand where the 2 thumbs developed the 'normal' thumb isn't in his hand joint.
He also ended up in hospital again on February 6th because whilst I was wearing him (I don't use a pram) I tripped over a loose slab in my town centre and he got a concussion.
He's a happy little boy though. He's for the most part healthy, a good weight even if he is very skinny and he loves to shout!! He can't roll, sit or crawl but we'll get there eventually!!
I just wish he'd sleep! He's always been a bad sleeper and he's awake now at 3:15am!Wife and mother :jGrocery budget

Hi Ro, bless you for thinking of me! I'm good thanks, we're all doing ok here. We had our first really good night's sleep last night, Amelia actually fell asleep in her moses basket rather than on me, and she slept from 11pm through to 7am, waking for a feed at 2am and 4.30am and both times going straight back down and falling asleep again! I'm hoping that the combination of Ewan the dream sheep, a sleeping bag and a dummy to help her sooth herself to sleep is the answer!
We're off to our first playgroup this morning as well! It's not too far from our house but unfortunately it's up a big hill that I'm not looking forward to climbing but at least it's exercise!
Amelia's got her 6 week review on Monday. I keep meaning to make a doctor's appointment for mine.
mozzy - you can take LO to the supermarket. The injections are for things like Diptheria, hopefully he won't run the risk of catching anything like that at Tesco:j Debt Free 27.07.2011!! :j0
